Two Ways to Approach Your Fitness Goals

  • One morning a young boy and his grandfather were sitting on the front porch. In front of the house the boy saw a little dog limping around like it had a splinter in his foot.
    Little boy: “Granddad, why doesn’t the dog stop and remove the splinter from his foot.”
    Grandfather: “Son, because it doesn’t hurt bad enough yet.”
    You can I approach our goal from one of two perspectives.
    1️⃣: From the perspective of pleasure/desire.
    “I want to train get strong so I can press 1/2 my body weight.”
    “I want to lose weight/trim up/lean out, etc. Because it’s summer time and wanna go to the beach and be comfortable walking around with my shirt off.”
    2️⃣: From the perspective of pain.
    “I no longer want to experience ‘X’.”
    “I no longer want to feel this way.”
    “I hate the way my clothes fit.”
    “I’m tired of getting dominated on the mat.”
    Pain is a BIG motivator.
    So when it comes to attaining your goals I recommend you ask yourself this question.
    “What’s more painful? The pain of remaining the same? Or the voluntary suffering and sacrifice to get what you want?”
    Both are going to be painful.
    Both are going to be HARD.
    But you get to CHOOSE your hard.
