Great video. Very informative, with great tips. Especially the fill plug on the transfer case.

I change all the fluids like this on a new to me vehicle. Just so I know its been done, and the condition of the fluids when I changed them and so I have a record of it being done. Fluids can tell you a lot about a vehicle especially if you send them in to be analyzed.

Great video!!! I like that wooden stand you used to clean your diff cover! Did you buy it or did you rig it together? Looks like it had some adjustable hinges. Proud Jeep owner here. Greetings from sunny florida

You inspired me to paint my diff covers as well (Caterpillar yellow). Looks pretty good on a green xj.

always put anti seize on the plug threads ( you hopefully also cleaned)......then you never fear rounding off stuck plugs..........

Thanks for this video! I have a 03 WJ V8 with a Dana 44 Super. Had it replaced 2 years ago and then started hearing some whirling recently on acceleration. Took it back to the same shop and they told me the entire thing needed to be replaced for $3,500. I think ill try changing the fluid first as I doubt a diff that was just replaced 2 years ago would go out that quick.

Keeping up with my past d and e videos. Another good one from you guys. Next time I do the diff fluid on my xj I’ll definitely be giving them a shot of rustoleum

My 02 WJ Laredo 4.7L manual states to change rear differential gear oil with 2qts of conventional 75W90-80W90(without towing) or 90W140(heavy towing) with 4oz Mopar limited slip every 12K miles which seems kinda excessive but hey there have been a lot of 4WD sticking problems and differential problems on 99-04 WJs

Little bit of nickel based anti seize on fill plug threads will prevent that fight!

If you use the liquid gasket, make sure you get the one specifically for "gear oil." the others will dissolve in the long term.

I'm sure you've long found this plug, but Doman/HELP # for it is 65340. Most any local parts store should stock them also. Look for an older working at the parts store, all of us have probably sold hundreds of them...haha
