    The way Carrie messed up was when packing it with her bare hands. She transferred the scent to the outside of the container. She should’ve used gloves when packing and changed gloves when closing the containers.

    Since they said the "contraband" is legal, I'm guessing it's gunpowder or some kind of common explosive and Rex is a bomb-sniffing dog. Not too far of a logical leap since illegal substances comprise like 90% of what dogs are trained to locate.

      VERY true, but for me personally, I wouldn't want to chance it! As soon as I saw a dog sniffing around either my bag, or me, I'd probably give off 'fear scent' which they may be trained to detect as well as specific substances. From what I've heard, there aren't just general 'sniffer dogs', there are loads of different ones, all trained to detect different things! There are even dogs trained to sniff out quantities of bank notes during raids on premises owned by alleged drug dealers, and dogs that can sniff out dead bodies, used for murder investigations, and attempted rescues / clean up from natural disasters! Amazing creatures, but I still prefer cats.....They will NEVER tell the feds where your stash is ;)

    It has been wildly underestimated. Also misinterpreting how "sniffers" work. Also a giant lack of context but assuming they used their scents with the dog they can Ultimately figure out where things are based on the oils produced by fingers. When a trained canine detecting oders smells the last place something was placed it's not helpful to bury the items scent. But your own. Id be more interested in knowing how well they hid their own scent.

    Hopefully they tell you this in part two.
    Even if you put illegal drugs into anything you can think of, that article will still be semipermeable. The molecules inside the illegal drugs will still go through any object and allow the dogs to detect them. The longer the drugs stay inside the object the easier it is for the dogs to find them because it gives the molecules inside the drugs more time to permeate through it.

    As someone who has trained these for over 30 years and analyzed dashcam footage that coffee search was not real. It was done in more than one take. The way the dog went in, the position of the officer and the camera were all different. It appears to have been done at least 3 times. Also, NO OFFICER would ever allow the dog to have the dog do a known problem with bleach as part of it as it would damage the dogs nose and would ruin a $30k item that belongs to the city not the officer. Also, your aids were shallow and on the ground. I have trained puppies that can do that and though you didn't reveal the odor the way the dog searches reveals it is a narcotics dog. A bomb dog would not break thresholds the way this dog and handler did nor would they respond that close as a bomb dogs threshold is much lower and they don't touch ANYTHING. Not to mention the handler was in front presenting to the dog, you never get in front of an explosives dog.....trip wires. Given the fact that it would have been illegal for you to have had in possession actual contraband of a narcotic you were most likely using pseudo which is simply the single odorant that the dog responds to. For example, cocaine would be methyl benzoate. This was a joke of a test and to a trained eye done more than once.

    if the drug gangs wanted then could foil the dogs at the airports just be spreading pounds of there stuff around on the floors.
    then by all the people just walking around it will get into even the airplanes. on all the luggage. and people moving around.
    and no the cleaning staff would be no use they would only help to move it around.

      That's actually an incredibly good / bad idea, depending on point of view! The actual cost to the producers would be relatively low, compared to the chance of a shipment being intercepted, however, it wouldn't prevent the X-Ray machines from spotting stuff.

    • @legacyntd

      detection looks for things that are not living. Tracking is for searching for live organisms.

    • @csjrogerson2377
      @csjrogerson2377 3 месяца назад

      @@legacyntd Not sure that I agree with that entirely, because it means the dog can not detect something that is living. Tracking, by definition, is the detection and following of something. That something could be living or non-living. You can't track something with first detecting it? I see what has been done but they are imprecise definitions that dont differentiate the 2 functions very well.

    • @legacyntd
      @legacyntd 3 месяца назад

      @@csjrogerson2377 what you are calling detection is technically an orienting response and discrimination. From that point depending on what they are trained for they either track or search via detection The thresholds for tracking and detection are completely different as they are for SAR etc. So, yes I have differentiated them with the proper technical and scientific terms. Once an odor is at the threshold for an orienting response, the dog then discriminates if it is the odor that it has been trained to respond to. From there it either tracks (as it is already at the source of the odor and it stays on the source) or if it's trained for detection it begins to try and go to source and then give a final response when it has gotten to the source or as close as it can get. Because narcotics and explosives are not alive they cannot be tracked....only a live organism can be tracked.
