@@BigSmallTravel yeah that area is very interesting in terms of history, since it’s very mountainous and isolated. All of Pontus used to be the northern Black Sea region of turkey, it was a rich and prosperous center of the Byzantine empire and was inhabited by orthodox Christians (majority were Greek) and after the population exchange of 1923 Greeks in the region had the option of either converting to Islam or being evicted and many were kicked out of their ancestral homeland. @@BigSmallTravel Hello, I am from Georgia. When I think about the history of our country, sometimes I think it is really a miracle that we still exist as an independent country and we are Georgians(Kartveli) but we are fighting and patriotic people. At the very least, you should give some historical background information: The name Kaçkar (from Armenian khachkar (Խաչքար) literally meaning "cross stone") may be used in various senses. It may describe the whole mountain range, including the many mountain groups, or it may just describe the Kaçkar-Kavron group with its highest peak, or just the highest peak itself. The local name of the highest peak or its mountain group Kaçkar Dağı translates to Kaçkar Mountain, and the name of the range Kaçkar Dağları translates to Kaçkar Mountains.

Wow, never knew that historical detail at all. I thought there were a lot of groups within this part of Turkey of course. The area especially in the Kackar mountains was not populated enough for us to get a clear influence, but we did enjoy the copious amounts of tea in this region as you can see at 10:51
@@BigSmallTravel yeah that area is very interesting in terms of history, since it’s very mountainous and isolated. The remaining Greeks who converted to Islam assimilated Into Turkish culture but there’s still some areas in that region that speak Pontic Greek.
Hemşin Come and see our beautiful Rize and Hemşin and :D Çamlıhemşin
Thank you, we really enjoyed this part of Turkey. We really loved Çamlıhemşin and Rize very much. Where are you from? Are you from this part of Turkey?
I m from Hemşin
@@atmaca53x3 are there lazians or they left this area
@@davexorus9836 You can't see Laz people in Hemşin district but Çamlıhemşin is settlement area of Hamshen people and Laz people. They live together in Çamlıhemşin district.
@@straussv0.243 are you laz? I just can't understand why are so many armenians here, because teritorry from hopa to sinop were occupied by lazians
NOT EASTERN. BUT NORD-EASTERN !!!!!!
Yes, for sure. But, still considered Eastern? Either way, this is a beautiful part of Turkey that we loved.
@Ahmet Yükseltürk Actually for the Kaçkar Mountains i think. Where live in north of Kaçkar Mountains, they isolation of interior community and thats why they have different culture, cuisine and a lot of things.
You guys look great, but is Eastern Turkey safe? Dangerous? Stay safe.
Thanks for watching! In our experience, this part of Eastern Turkey felt very safe - we even took local buses and shuttles and had no problems. The people here were nothing but hospitable and helpful, and we'd go back in a heartbeat. We'd highly recommend visiting this part of Turkey. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Turkey is safe expect syrian border but it's too far there anyway
@@erennyilmzz How should I know that? When I hear about this part of Turkey I am thinking of the refugee crisis and instability adjacent to Turkey. Would you visit Rize and the mountains without precaution?
@@ayangoldman5014 i got your saying but it's not this part
what you're trying to say is southeastern part of Turkey
Rize is part of black sea region and it's totally safe
@@erennyilmzz How well do you this area? Are you living in Rize? Don't get me wrong, I am enthralled with Turkey, but I have heard that you have to be extra careful in Eastern and Southeastern Turkey. The men there can be very conservative and react negatively towards foreigners especially women.
Aman lazlara dikkat edin saat 12.00 sonra akıları duruyor!!
Hi! What language is this? We don't understand. Thanks for watching.
@@BigSmallTravel he is making jokes in Turkish.
@@hllays8075 Oh really? What is he saying? We always like to have a sense of humor for sure.
@@hllays8075 I just translated the joke from English. So, the Laz people are the Turkish people in the Black Sea region?
@@BigSmallTravel he says be careful to the laz people because their minds don't work after 12 o'clock. It is a joke here 😀😀. Yes they are black sea region people
Hmm one of these two is seriously geography challenged. They show a map from Batumi to the Black Sea Region of Turkey (0:23 of video), but the map shows a start in interior Georgia to the interior of Turkey, neither of which are near the Black Sea🤣🤣🤣
Yes, when we made the video iMovie had a tool that showed a general journey between Georgia and Turkey. However, at 2:23 you can see a specific map where we are in Turkey. We were aware of where we were located in Turkey. Thanks for watching.
👍
Thanks! Turkey is beautiful. Our next video is in Baku.
Awesome video , Turkey is naturally one of the most beautiful countries in the world but unfortunately i have been there and the people are not as friendly and other tourism destinations i have been to , may be it is the language because they don’t understand any language other than Turkish .
What happened? We had very positive experiences with people in Turkey. Did they try to speak English? Where did you go?
You sure you were in Turkiye? 😊
These are our lands🇬🇪which were taken from us by Turkey😣❤️🩹
Thanks for the information. We do not know the history so well. Where are you from?
@@BigSmallTravel Hello, I am from Georgia. When I think about the history of our country, sometimes I think it is really a miracle that we still exist as an independent country and we are Georgians(Kartveli) but we are fighting and patriotic people. We have never been a conquering nation, we have always fought and harassed by others from all sides for centuries❤️🩹My country’s real name is Sakartvelo and we are Kartveli people🇬🇪Google Lazeti and Tao-Klarjeti, ofc if you are interested. Historically we are big country 🇬🇪with big history and culture, but we lost lots of territories and people, because of our enemies.
@@BigSmallTravel I am from Sakartvelo 🇬🇪In Turkey, there are lots of people with Kartvelian blood and roots, because of Turkey took Lazeti and Tao-Klarjeti from us. Also Trabzon province, these are historically Sakartvelo’s land🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪
😁
We love Turkey so much! And you?
@@BigSmallTravel I love it too but I moving to another country. Islamists rule the country.😐
@@erkan5829 What?
@@BigSmallTravel I love it yes 😁👍
At the very least, you should give some historical background information:
The name Kaçkar (from Armenian khachkar (Խաչքար) literally meaning "cross stone") may be used in various senses.
Normally I wouldn't say this, but it could have been yours but you missed the opportunity, you believed in the russians and the french and slaughtered the turks, the opportunity was born for us and we destroyed you and it was better I don't want to see armenia you dreamed of big armenia and it was the end of you now no one cares about agla little armenia as much as you want

@@BigSmallTravel He wants to say that from Ardeşen to Çamlıhemşin its area of Laz people, and from Çamlıhemşin and up its area of Hemşin people (first one have Georgian roots and second one have Armenian roots) You can search about Lazika or Lazistan 🌿
@@BigSmallTravelDon't believe in them. Those are Georgians who commented.

You forgot to mention, might be Turkey now, but is occupied Armenian land. Even the Armenian name Kackar remained, which means Brave Rock in Armenian.
