Hey guys (and girls). I recently put the plans for this build in the video description. Pleas check out the dropbox link 😘 In this video I also answer some of the FAQs about this pulley: ruclips.net/video/B1B5bdsGako/видео.html If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them 👍😎
I have been looking for a DIY pulley system for nearly two years. I can't thank you enough. This is going in my garage gym. Subscribed and up voted from southern California.
This looks like the best one out of all of them here on RUclips !!!! Anybody here getting some ideas because the gyms are closed !!!! (corona v) I will never take the gyms being open for granted any more !!!! I learned my not going to the gym lesson !!!! Uncle !!!! Uncle !!!! Uncle !!!! Already !!!! My main regret is not taking advantage of the Deep Water Therapy Pool and the Deep Water Section of the pool as much as I could have !!!!! and I believe there is not other gym like it..... the gym is focused towards the retired and elderly, but they have Everything !!!!!
Thank you so much for your comment! I am so grateful I invested in a home gym setup. But obviously not everyone can have that in their homes! Know that this will all be over soon, we have to have a little more patience. And then we will be so much more appreciative of the things we had to miss. Stay Safe Oscar! I hope you can enjoy that awesome deep water therapy pool again soon!
Great video, thank you for taking the time to explain and do a follow up. Just finished building mine and it works great. Just need to add the lower pulley, I'm gonna try and make it adjustable so it can be used from different positions.
Your build is awesome man!! It looks so refined! I really love the angle that you made for the too pulley! Great job my man! How does it feel to use it? ☺️☺️
@@BarRookie Works and feels really good. I used chrome wardrobe rails for the upright guides, the weight block just glides up with no resistance. So happy with the build. Only thing I messed up (mostly cos i rushed at the end) was the hole for the front pulley. I didn't get them quite lined up so the pulley does not sit straight, I'm gonna open the holes out and add some bushes. Thanks again mate. :-)
Hey brotha that’s an awesome build love how it doesn’t take up too much space. Specially for those of us that don’t have too much room. I live in an upstairs apartment and closest gym in 30 mins away+traffic.
Thank you for sharing! I wonder if I could add a level of a pulley for bicep curls at shoulder level. You extend your arm out straight and curl. Then for bicep curls and shoulders, i probably need different length cords for that huh? I use resistance bands due to neck/ back pain. I figure a pulley system would be better than keep buying bands they keep breaking. It's a pain! I usually work 1 arm at a time because working 2 makes my neck pain worse. It's easier focusing on one arm then switch.
I would have loved a pulley that you can set at different heights. But in order to make that workable, you need a 2 tot 1 ratio. That way lenght of the cable is less an issue. I would have love to have one at elbow level for external rotations for example. But despite all of that, it is way better than using bands that break.
I will post it, if not here then on my Facebook account and i will give you a ring and i will make sure to say that i got the original plans and style from your video ;) I am still mainly going to the Gym to train, is a social thing to me 💪💪 ) Facebook : Art Studio Positive Eclipse Thank's for the reply, that was great . i used steel cable (without plastic covering) which was chewed up by the pulley in no time and broke. would i have better luck with steel cable with plastic covering or climbing rope? TQVM
Hi, that is why I used a cable with plastic wrapping. That way everything stays nice together and you avoid friction between the cable and pulley. A climbingrope will probably stretch over time.

I live in UK I can't find those 2 bars that holds the weights in the UK if you got website where you bought these from so if I can order them that'll be great
What someone could do is follow your plans and just put a longer peice of pipe between that 4x4 block that holds the weight that way they could slide numerous concrete plates made from a bucket as a mold.
I've actually seen somebody do that! Ik looks super nice. Which makes me wonder, wouldn't it be easier to find an old weightstack and use that instead?
You can find them at the hardwarestore, where you can find outdoor fence poles. If they don’t have that, you can always use threaded flanges and galvanized steel pipes. That is as good as an option!
@@BarRookie hey I actually accidentally found them while looking through Titan Fitness website. They call them weight plate holders. It meant for their racks but looks just like what you used.
Great pulley system! I’m impressed I think I’ll try and make this! I have a lower ceiling so I’ll modify the height of my pulley system based off your design. Any estimates on how much this would cost to make?
Hi, sorry for the late answer. I found these at the garden section of my local hardware store. These pole holders come with the green poles that are used for metal fencing. Hope that helps!
06:54 dude I thought you were going to cut your arm off, glad your okay. Haha dangerous move js...Although, this video was extremely helpful I'm going to pick up some lumber tomorrow. Thanks
Hi Don, thanks for your honest comment and question. Indeed this is not a cheap alternative nor do I claim it to be. This is more about the building experience and sharing this.
That is true, but that is the same case with barbell training. And if you have a barbell, chance are you have change plates that are low enough. The lowest I can go is 2.5 kg. So far haven't got any issues with it.

Great pulley system! I’m impressed I think I’ll try and make this! I have a lower ceiling so I’ll modify the height of my pulley system based off your design.
Any estimates on how much this would cost to make?
Hey Kyle!
Yes indeed, you can always make it lower if you want! That is the beauty of DIY!
With the pulley wheels, around 150 euros
@@BarRookie awesome!! Thanks for creating this & sharing your invention it looks great! 💪🏼
@@kylemaximusmith You're welcome brother! I can't say I really invented it, but thanks :D
@@BarRookie well thank you for you modification then haha!
Exelent!!!!!!
Can someone please tell me what the measurements of wood he purchased in inches?
I just checked again and its about 0.80 inch by 3.6 inch. But you can always go larger if you want to. Hope that helps!
BarRookie thank you thank you thank you!
Hey man, where did you find those metal pole holders?
Hi, sorry for the late answer. I found these at the garden section of my local hardware store. These pole holders come with the green poles that are used for metal fencing. Hope that helps!
Hello,
Can you advise me on where you got your poles and the pole holders. Cant seem to find similar ones on the internet.
Thanks
I think that will be very difficult ordering online. I got them from the local hardware store.
Looks good!
Idea muito boa
Thanks man!
Fantastic bro
Are you from Belgium?
Yes I am! :D and you?
@@BarRookie jep indeed 😀 i saw it because of the items used of the Hubo and i think i even saw some tools of the “Action” 😅
Hahaha awesome man, you have a keen eye! Where exactly are you from?
@@BarRookie O-vl Oudenaarde you?

They are spare parts for commercial pulley stations.
Nice work!
Thank you so much!!
good job ¡¡¡¡¡¡
Thanks!! 😁
Where you got this pulley cable? Please tell me bro
Hi bro! I got this one in the hardware section of the DIY store. They sell them on huge bobbins and then you need to cut off the length you want.
@@BarRookie thanks bro
Did you design this?
Yes I did, with some pictures of commercial pullies. 💪💪
@@BarRookie bloody hell good effort
First of all, congratulations friend, it was very good. I want to learn too can you send me the dimensions and material?
Hey Man, thanks! I will, can you send me your e-mail and I will send you the files? 😋
BarRookie me too please, should I just post the address here or?

Thanks ahead!
06:54 dude I thought you were going to cut your arm off, glad your okay. Haha dangerous move js...Although, this video was extremely helpful I'm going to pick up some lumber tomorrow. Thanks
Looking back at it, it was a dumb move of me. Thanks for caring 💪😍
Didn’t watch the video, but for a plate loaded pulley system just like this, how much money was actually saved? I wouldn’t think much
Hi Don, thanks for your honest comment and question. Indeed this is not a cheap alternative nor do I claim it to be. This is more about the building experience and sharing this.
Ok, wasn’t trying to be crass about it, was just curious. Thanks for the reply
BarRookie how much did it cost to build this? Just the wood and bolts and all that not including power tools etc
Safety, wears open shoes xD
Safety is number juan priority 😅
Nice video 💯 how much did it cost to make ?
Thanks! About 250 euros, without attachments. The bulk of the money goes into the pulley wheels and metal hardware.
Nearly as expensive as a commercial pulley.
Nice but I would not trust in the atachment to the weights block.
It can be pull out with heavy weights
Manos ala obra construiré esto a ver qué tal me sale
Why did not you show how you do any exercises on that?
bro I really can't understand the plans can you upload another clearer one?
Hey brother, what exactly do you not understand, maybe I can help you like so? The measurements are metric btw.
@@BarRookie what is the exact size of the wood that is being drilled into the wall in the 7:45 minute
@@BarRookie sorry bro my english is not good i am from mexico cancun qrooo
@@kevinalfaro8457 Hi brother, the size of that piece of wood does not matter that much. It is 140x18x700 mm.
The only problem with that machine is that u have to put the wight both side to be balanced otherwice it gets stuck
That is true, but that is the same case with barbell training. And if you have a barbell, chance are you have change plates that are low enough. The lowest I can go is 2.5 kg. So far haven't got any issues with it.
Старик, это круто)))
Thank you so much!! :D (Yes I did put this in google translate ;-) )
@@BarRookie I got it))
