give it some time, they don’t care to sell that much on the first few years and you figured it out at the end of the video. logo is great, opinions are everywhere lately, but at the end it will work, is unique and rare, some of us don’t like crazy patterns on a polo and love a minimalistic but meaningful logo

Great thoughts buddy, it’s a deep conversation. The reality is that new brands take time to develop significant meaning beyond the logo. Reputations build through years of intentional actions, but eventually the golf community will have a perception of the brand and know how to think about it. The logo design is nice in my opinion. It is differentiated from its competitors and simple enough to work with an embroidered hat. With time, the brand grow and find its place, but the company has to keep elevating its image and show us what it means to join the Sun Day Red tribe.
The brand just released its first signature golf shoes - which was the main attraction to begin with. There's been delays because Tiger wanted to perfect them and so we shall see the sales on the shoes
If, like you said, he should have made the products cheaper and more appealing to the general public - there would be counterfeits all over. People will buy directly from SDR because they know the quality is there. Because he is Tiger, golfers at some point will try out 1 product and they're banking on that the quality is good enough that they will become repeated customers. Clearly, you had no idea the shoes were coming out and YOUR timing was off Looking at your golf swing, you're NO GOOD. People like us who have great golf course memberships would absolutely buy one or more products. I'm willing to try out his golf shoes. Your opinion is from a sucky golfer who isn't as wealthy - which is not their target audience to begin with and you have only 8k followers
Just looked at their website, their t-shirts are $50-$65 and polos are $115-$150 if they wanted to buy it they would’ve priced their stuff lower. Charging $45 a glove is a bit crazy
It’s a very strange name choice. Splitting Sun Day makes no sense. He could’ve simply gone with ‘Tiger Woods’, the most famous name in golf. And sell the merch for a reasonable price.
Nice video. I hope you get more subscribers because your video quality, attention to detail in your storytelling, and quality microphone are really advanced. I subbed. Good luck growing your channel.
I wanted to buy some but they didn’t have anything in my size. I’ll stick with my callaway shirts and shorts. Super comfortable and stay cool on the course
No, it is not trademarked, but you would have a hard time trademarking it since it is in common use. You would have to find a way to imply or assign a secondary use/meaning. Thus, it was easy to split it and let the consumer put it back together.
@ElsonLim78 agreed but his real name is Eldrick, not Tiger. I'm sure I read where Nike took the rights to his Tiger nick name which is why he can't use it. His restaurant in Florida is called the woods Jupiter for that reason.
Good vlog. I never bought TW Nike stuff even when he was in his pomp. Plenty of normal one colour Nike polos, even then normally on clearance at seasons end. So I was never in their demographic. Now Tiger has faded there's no chance at all I'm gonna pay twice what a TW polo was for Sun Day Red. Unless it's in a fire sale. I also guess a lot are now buying merch from YT golfers. But none of that is at Car Crash Red prices
I'm curious - where do you get the idea the brand has failed/not worked out? I see plenty of people wearing SDR. As someone else said - the aim is high-end, not a Nike or FJ competitor. At $350+ for a Cashmere Sweater, its pretty clear what they are going for. Your video literally assumes the wrong positioning and therefor draws the wrong conclusion
Yeah when I first saw their pricing I knew their target audience was the masses, despite Tiger's appeal to them. This is higher end brand targeted at golfers who not only have lots of disposable income but also one who aren't frugal. Their stuff is not at the ridiculous luxury price point but it's definitely a notch above the brands most pro shops and golf shop are selling. The kind of guy who's buying Sun Day Red is the kind of guy who has 5-10 $400 putters laying around and has now qualms about dropping a couple grand on various clubs every year.
Far too expensive, not available in Europe, and boring designs. The logo is a bit meh. Tiger is finished. He’s yesterday’s golfer. Tiger is a legend. But no one who’s under the age of 30 really idolises him now. TW Nike was superb. I loved wearing his Nike stuff.
I don't think anyone wants to build a company to purposely fail. It's easy to point out what went wrong now that it has gone wrong. For me, the clothes looked just too plain. It didn't justify the premium price. The logo didn't help the look of the apparel. I don't feel the company's failure was done on purpose.
Old white golfer says...... "Really hate the logo .................... T-minus 2-3 years and counting until a lot of it ends up on EBay at closeout pricing"
You say 40 years from now the young golfers won't know who Tiger is. News flash it already started. My grandson (22) and his friends who play golf have heard of Tiger but have no interest in him are his accomplishments. It's Scheffler, Dechambeau and a few others their always talking about and interested in.
My nephew is 20 and on his college golf team. I was just talking with him about Hogan and Snead, he laughed and was going here we go with these old guys that played wooded clubs. So yes his generation couldn’t care less about the greats including Tiger, he’s as ancient to them as Nicklaus is. All he is interested in talking about are today’s top players. They couldn’t care less about what Tiger is doing or what he is wearing. He doesn’t exist in their world.
LMAO damn they just opened the shop.... You know they could fix this pretty quick by having a Charlie line and Tiger line straight up and they play exclusively in those Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday sets.. there's still enough person worship.
Maybe it’s just me, but i ain’t paying that kind of money for a golf shirt. Prices in Aus dollars would be obscenely more expensive and everyone at the course will know you have more dollars than sense.
I like the design, and I'm a big fan of Tiger Woods products, but these don't hold up well. The towels get holes in them, and the hat gets all wrinkled when I sweat in it. I had to return every single product I purchased.
It failed because the stuff they have is beyond generic. No style no substance nothing special. For example the polos all are one solid color and have no pattern or design.
A golf hat $50, way to expensive!!!!! I can afford that, BUT, not paying that much for a friggin hat. Kind of had a feeling it wasn't going to break through. I buy stuff at end of golf season and get better pricing.
He out priced the majority of his fan base. Plain and simple. 80% of his fan base are your everyday middle and lower middle class. They are not paying 300 plus for a sweatshirt. 200 for a Polo. He got greedy, period.
Also the brands and price they are going for and competing against, those people aren’t fans of tiger. My dad and uncles could care less about tiger and his gear
It’s unfortunate that Tiger has been ill advised, arguably the greatest golfer ever and without a doubt an absolute sporting savage, they name his clothing line after something that is likely going to be rare moving forward, unless he’s playing in a tournament without a cut.
All your other points notwithstanding... THE NAME IS STUPID. He literally says it in the press conference "I've worn red on Sundays." So WHY TF is it "Sun Day" two words? If they made it SUNDAY RED, they would have sold at least one more shirt and hat...
This video is nonsense. Sun day red has been well received by golfers and sales have exceeded expectations. It’s a high end brand so I’m sure the price tag turns some off, but the products are fantastic. I’ve bought a few items and everything has been great. This brand is competing with high end brands like Travis Matthew, lululemon, and others, it’s not a discount brand.
So you work for Taylormade? How do you know the brand has exceeded expectations? Your take is nonsense because you give no evidence just your opinion. At least the video tried to give reasons.
@ all this guy did was give his opinion. The sales comment I made was based on an industry press release and the facts that the initial drops sold out quickly. Have you ever started a company? You start with small drops to see if things sell out and to get customer feedback before making items widely available. The brand is targeting high end golfers who want quality and don’t care about price. The brand is succeeding and his opinions were all subjective and personal and showed a lack of awareness of how businesses operate when starting out. He literally compared sun day red to Nike, the world’s largest sports retailer that has been around for over 40 years and that is nonsense.
I came across a Facebook ad for a ball marker for $50. I vowed then to never ever buy anything from them and I love Tiger Woods. That is absolutely ridiculous.
It was overpriced garbage that doesn’t fit well. To top it off the logo is a logo of a brand I would think is discount brand not premium. I remember a cheap clothing brand as a kid called Le Tigre I believe and basically had same logo. It was suppose to be a cheap knockoff of Lacoste.
How can you say it “failed” when 2025 is the first year that SDR will be widely available? Your entire premise is incorrect and most of what you present as facts are merely opinions. Comparing anything in today’s fractured and highly competitive apparel market to 10-20 years ago when Nike, adidas, and UA dominated is also an incorrect assumption. Anyone is welcome to disagree, but building a lifestyle brand that is capable of competing with Peter Millar is not about being golf-centric or hitting the widest market possible but being strategic in your markets and using Tiger’s name to gain access to a clientele that other brands can only dream of. Quantity doesn’t always trump quality.
