- Here's another long one, a two-parter. I made this long format video to show just how much work goes into a relatively routine and simple repair. Also no music at all in this one.
Thanks, as always, to Ellen Wight for her camera work and advice.

You make it look so easy, yet we all know there is a ton of artistry in your work. Fantastic.
What a beautiful plate... WOW!
Excellent work Martin, thanks for sharing. Tas from Down-Under.
Respect my friend, great to watch you do your magic.
I was so puzzled by this broken platter that I have that the pieces didn't fit. Now I know why.
Lovely job
Thank you I love to watch u return things to beautiful
Hi Martin, I was wondering if you have any videos that demonstrate the full process of filing and sanding down from a step? (when pieces are misaligned) I've been going through your uploads systematically, but quite often you skip that stage (understandably). Tks, Patrick.
True Artistry
Mr Martin i am a young ceramics restorer from Greece, and i really admire you. You are like a maestro to me. Sadly we dont have an institut to learn this craft here so i learned by practising. I would like to ask you, were did you learn all of that stuff. Is there a school you went? Thanks we love you in greece.
Thank you for the compliment. I'm glad you find my videos helpful. I have been an artist since I was a child. I've also been a collector of skills throughout my life. I answered an ad in the newspaper for a restorer. I got the job at "Venerable Classics" restoration studio and from them I learned the art of restoration and repair. I have be learning my craft every single day, and still do. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have as you learn the craft too. Good luck to you!
You shouldve cover the areas next to the breaking lines to avoid overpainting them imo. You really couldve save tons of time and also the overpaint wouldnt be that visible
Fabulous information about firing ceramics and shrinkage and warping. This would explain alignment issues I had with a plate which appeared to have a clean break.
I searched high and low for the little knife you use. Now I learn it’s custom made which explains why it works so well.
I’m sure you said once that you hate hand painting. This demonstration made my eyes bleed. One question. Why would you not use masking fluid around the crack to reduce the amount of painting?
Re: masking: sometimes I do. But usually the airbrush is used because it hides the transition of my color to the original color in places where the glaze color has barely perceptible differences in color and its density.
@@marsgitar Ah, I see, I knew you would have a good reason for doing it that way. Thanks for explaining it to me.
Amazing skills you have learnt , well done ,would like to here how you started and learnt your craft
Parabéns..
What if we would use clamps at the point to resume the original tension?
Sure, if it works, use it.
What Brand Beushesdo you use
