Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you Big. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ballplayer whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war, Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his all-girl team. Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), the baseball dolly with a Babe Ruth swing. Teammates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O'Donnell round out the roster, taking the team to the World Series. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail, on the fields and off, for generations of athletes.
That poor woman had dirt thrown in her face, screamed at for being kissed, basically called a witch and then was food poisoned throughout the night. 😂😂
And yet she was still there to comfort poor Betty Spaghetti was her husband was killed overseas.
Yeah she was very supportive towards Betty.
Racine won the World Series, but ahe was the champion.
She got bullied. She didnt mean no harm

Even after all these years, this is one of my favorite parts where Jimmy kisses the chaperone. Their reaction, and his "By the way, I loved you in the Wizard of Oz". Never fails to make me laugh😅...
Only scene that makes me laugh harder is when he insult the ump right after the crying in baseball diatribe.
It's really a testament to how deeply asleep/passed out Jimmy was - he slept through all of that chaos until Miss Cuthbert woke him up lol.
“Wad iz it baybee?” Is too freakin hilarious.
I've watched this movie a hundred times and still keep finding little things that I've never noticed before like how Jimmy sleeps next to a baseball card of himself on the bus 3:11

I honestly think this is Hanks’ finest acting… yes, even more so than Philly & Gump. He nailed a fine line between comedy and character while playing a washed-up athlete.
So true....he shows his versatility. He started in comedy, but showed his serious side too.
@@guadalupebaptista9757 : This role was the spark that started the dramatic part of his career. Everyone points to the "no crying" line but it's these smaller moments that really showed how well he could blend comedy and drama when he played a character: body language, tone, how he casually delivers his lines (--Well Sir, in my defense, there was a fire in the room... -- Which YOU started!!) and the way his head shakes when he tells Evelyn to work on her fielding or (my favorite part) he insults the umpire who immediately throws him out of the game.
Yeah.. but Philadelphia was his real introduction to drama and superstardom.
@@calvinnickel9995 Not his intro really, this had plenty of dramatic moments for his character. Philly was of course his first shot at pure drama.
The lady who played Miss Cuthbert is still alive today. She's on her 90s!

The guys making the movie debated a romance between Tom Hanks' character and Geena Davis', but since Geena's character was married in the movie they decided to not go that route. That's why it's deleted.
