That poor woman had dirt thrown in her face, screamed at for being kissed, basically called a witch and then was food poisoned throughout the night. 😂😂
I've watched this movie a hundred times and still keep finding little things that I've never noticed before like how Jimmy sleeps next to a baseball card of himself on the bus 3:11
Even after all these years, this is one of my favorite parts where Jimmy kisses the chaperone. Their reaction, and his "By the way, I loved you in the Wizard of Oz". Never fails to make me laugh😅...
I honestly think this is Hanks’ finest acting… yes, even more so than Philly & Gump. He nailed a fine line between comedy and character while playing a washed-up athlete.
@@guadalupebaptista9757 : This role was the spark that started the dramatic part of his career. Everyone points to the "no crying" line but it's these smaller moments that really showed how well he could blend comedy and drama when he played a character: body language, tone, how he casually delivers his lines (--Well Sir, in my defense, there was a fire in the room... -- Which YOU started!!) and the way his head shakes when he tells Evelyn to work on her fielding or (my favorite part) he insults the umpire who immediately throws him out of the game.
One of my favorite parts - I’d love to know who added that in the script - he is going to throw a handful of dirt right in her face at point blank range
When Hanks jumps into the driver’s seat of the bus, I had a flashback to “Bachelor Party” where he drove a school bus. . He does some of his best yelling in this movie. Yelling and peeing are his trademarks.
Just to show you how pissed Lou really was, he stopped the bus in the middle of nowhere, quit, and decided to walk to God knows where just to get away from Stillwell.
Okay a little fun for you guys at this very moment 1:34 there is an on camera blind stage Direction You See the young actor who played Stillwell could not get it right when it came to running away when Madonna chased him so at 1:34 you can see the actress sitting right behind him the actress that plays Shirley Baker tap him on the shoulder letting him know when to run don't blink or you'll miss it like if you saw it
The reason why this scene is so damn funny is you could tell that Hanks didn't have to do much acting when he screams/reacts. She really is a hideous looking woman who does match the Wicked Witch almost identically. So the Wizard of Oz burn is PERFECT. 🤣💀
There is a deleted scene i just watched. When Dottie quits the team in the locker room, she's emotional. But why is the deleted scene. Tom Hanks kisses her on the field.
The guys making the movie debated a romance between Tom Hanks' character and Geena Davis', but since Geena's character was married in the movie they decided to not go that route. That's why it's deleted.
Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) mixed Mrs Cuthbert (Pauline Brailsford) with Margaret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch, because his face is covered of sand thrown by Lou Goosatelli.

Best line ever!
😂😂😂😂😂
And the year this movie was set was only a few years after The Wizard Of Oz came out
It's really a testament to how deeply asleep/passed out Jimmy was - he slept through all of that chaos until Miss Cuthbert woke him up lol.
"Who's Lou?" always cracks me up😂😂😂
I came here to leave the exact same comment.

Doris: Mae, don’t use my bat! Use Marla’s; it’s heavier!
Rosie was perfect in this movie!
Like that Three Stooges line: "Hey, you can't hit a woman with that! Use this, it's bigger."
Caught that line 😂 man this movie is awesome

Only scene that makes me laugh harder is when he insult the ump right after the crying in baseball diatribe.
“Wad iz it baybee?” Is too freakin hilarious.
Just walking to who knows how far the next town is, instead of being with Stillwell. Always loved it.
I feel the same way about kids.
Tom Hanks had achieved comedic godhood with just this one scene.
dude the sinister grin on the kid as he covers the drivers eyes is epic hilarity for me. lmao
Man, I heard Woody screaming "what the hell is going on?!!?" LMAO

Yeah.. but Philadelphia was his real introduction to drama and superstardom.
