Thank you!! It’s awesome when I can really see how weight loss has changed my life in so many ways! I wouldn’t have even attempted a big hike like that when I was 260 pounds!! 🤗

Great pictures Jenn! Don’t you love Arches and Canyonlands? They are a few hours from where I live! What a story about getting lost, glad you made it out ok!

What fun. And scary too. My husband and i live in Mn. And we are traveling to Montana in a couple weeks. We are also doing the parks thing. And i am so excited because 107 lbs ago i would never have been able to do the hiking we want to do or just enjoy even the drive. I sure hope we see the buffalo like you did. And i also hope you get your gerd problem solved. By the way, I hope your daughter is doing well.

Oh by the way Jen, i happened upon a you tube video by "Monica Yearwood" about gerd and hiatal (sp) hernia and yoga relief you might find interresting. Just thought i'd mention it to you. Good luck.

That’s awesome & thank you so much!! I highly recommend purchasing the National Park Annual Pass at your first stop... I think it was $80.-
Though these bodies aren’t perfect, they sure do work better now! I was amazed when in one of my pics I could see a little muscle in my calf! It’s like a second chance at life! I’m so happy for you! 107 pounds, that’s amazing! You’re going to have a blast on your vacation!! And thanks for the info on the yoga, going to check that out straight away!! 🌷

So you had the hiatal hernia pre-surgery? Why didn't the surgeon repair it while he was in there? My surgeon said I had a rather large hiatal hernia which I don't think he expected and he repaired that while he was there. In fact, I'm 99% sure that I signed a permission for him to repair it if one was found. Have you thought of finding a new surgeon. Hiatal hernias are a fairly easy repair. That would help both with the GERD and the Barret's esophagus.

Hi 👋🏻!! Yes, I am considering that. And yeah, I am thinking that I may have had it because I started getting that terrible ice pick to the chest pain at least a year before vsg. I just hadn’t connected that pain to the hiatal hernia until just recently. There is a chance it could be gall bladder, but something non-heart related is happening & it hurts crazy bad when it hits. I couldn’t get an appt w/ my GI doc until late October!🤦🏼‍♀️
Erggg. When I asked my surgeon about whether he saw a hiatal hernia, his response was that he hadn’t looked.🤪

So have they changed the course of your plan far as what is next? Will you get a revision or is there some other treatment you can do for the acid reflux?

      Hi! 👋🏻
I’ve made an appt with my GI doc, but it’s not til late October. 🤦🏼‍♀️
My plan right now is to start logging every time I get reflux in order to make my own “foods to limit/avoid ” list. It’s tricky when even water can aggravate it, but there are definitely those foods that do trigger, like for some reason bananas get me every time! 😕
I’m really hoping the GI doc will be able to assist because I don’t want to be dependent on meds that not only don’t completely work, but can affect the Osteoporosis.
How are you doing with it? What meds do you take?

@@ShrinkingJenn I definitely understand.. it was touching to hear you say that you don't regret the VSG despite the reflux. I take 40mg of prilosec for it I am only 8 weeks out my AR comes and goes so I'm being optimistic it will subside I had a egd done no signs of anything but AR and upper gi done so I dont have a hernia..

Ugg, I’m so sorry your going through this. Mine started that early too. The first months were by far the worst, so I can for sure say that mine has improved from then. Talk to your doc, maybe you could increase the dose to 2x per day. I take my 2nd dose an hour before bed or I’m getting it all night. Most nights I’m on the couch sleeping upright. I also try very hard not to drink anything or eat close to bed time. That definitely makes it worse.
      Hugs from California! 🌻

I don’t believe u would have been able to lose the wt w/o the surgery. When we r teens, under a certain BMI, and not having dieted much so far in our lives, THEN diets may work (but often only temporarily).
Anyway, what a story about getting lost in the desert. They don’t put fences at cliff edges.
I have some tips for you:
    1. GERD/Barrett’s - Hopefully they aren’t suggesting ByPass, but I bet they are. Rxes don’t fix the root problem, but neither does ByPass. The root problem is not ENUF stomach acid, which causes the LES valve to fail to close properly, allowing acid to reverse. The natural solution is both Apple Cider Vinegar (1/2 tsp in 8 oz water daily), and a good quality probiotic (Thorne Research bacillus coagulans on Amazon is good). Google the natural route on GERD and give it a good college try b4 submitting to ByPass. Before you can try this natural actual solution, you will need to wean off of your protonic‘s, because they will cancel each other out.
    2. Autoimmune Grave’s: Any AI condition can be helped by a relatively new protocol called Low Dose Naltrexone (“LDN”). This should help the Grave’s and prevent regain and help in lots of little ways. www.ldnresearchtrust.org is the best website. Pop around it thoroughly and you will find out what it is, what it treats, how it works, where to find a prescriber, and where to get your prescription filled. Mine is covered at least 60% by Blue Cross.
    3. Osteoporosis. Perhaps u were not taking all ur calcium, or all ur Vit D, but u also need Vitamin K2 to help the calcium get fully absorbed into ur bones (and NOT into organs like the heart...). K2 will PULL calcium deposits FROM the heart and make them deposit in bones. Available on Amazon. ALSO, ur are 10 years into having Progesterone loss and need to go on natural bioidentical Progesterone ASAP. A Naturopath can help u. The visit may not be covered by insurance, but the prescription will. Alternatively, you may be able to find a hormone specialist under your insurance plan who can provide you with “natural bioidentical progesterone”. But make sure it is not Progestin or anything synthetic like that!!! Progesterone will help your bones and your osteoporosis. Women start losing progesterone at age 35 you’re 10 years late. Combined with the sleeve and the lateness your osteoporosis has set in. Gastric bypass will only make this much much worse.
    ACTION LIST:
    ACV
    PROBIOTIC
    WEAN OFF PROTONIX
    DONT DO BYPASS
VIT K2 WITH CALCIUM & VIT D (TAKE THEM ALL TOGETHER)
    *LOW DOSE NALTREXONE
    *NATURAL BIOIDENTICAL PROGESTERONE
*SAME NATUROPATH CAN PROBABLY RX BOTH THE LDN & PROGESTERONE.

Thank you for that info. I’m definitely going to speak to my numerous doctors about the things you mentioned. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas on this. 🌷
