Thank you! great verbal and video/slide show presentation. I have watched a couple of videos that say they are going to show what to do, but when you start with power washing video forever, ugh. This is what I needed to know. Once again, thank you and your Garage Cat.
if you remove the sliding collar on the drive shaft and can't remember which way it went , look through the round hole in the mounting plate.the hole is offset, your bolt wants to go STRAIGHT up. if it doesn't flip the collar around .good idea to lube the spline shaft and see that the collar slides easily
I can already tell you that the two bolts that holds up the transmission you were talking about almost never comes out. Theyre almost always seized solid inside the aluminium. Taking off the whole crossbeam is usually the way to go.
Thank you for this info. Hopefully it will help someone who is having difficulty removing their bolts. My bolts came apart alright but my transaxle was sitting on the garage floor when I removed them so that may have made it easier for me.
Thank you DIY! I have an '86 NA, the transmission slips, but just a little. may not be a big deal. I wonder how much I can save $$ by removing the transmission myself then delivering it for a rebuild. Awesome music!
How different would this be for an automatic transmission and reinstalling a torque tube that’s been taken off? Just bought an automatic 1986 944 with the transaxle disassembled
I have a 924 and it doesn't have that bigger window for the transaxle makes it harder how could I get it easily it's the last one I have to get and it's the farthest back
Thank you DIY! I am currently learning to curse in German.(Should be included in Manual)!
I'll have to try that next time!
Thanks for the video. Made taking the transaxle out of my 85.5 m much easier.

Thanks for the tip. I will remember when it is time to replace my collar.

Save about half I would think but a slipping is probably a clutch which is an easy change. You may just want to do a clutch change yourself.
excellent vid and quality photos thanks
Super helpful thank you
