  • So I found a pretty nice upgrade to the 944 shifter issue. This is the first part to a series where I will replace the shifter rod, shifter linkage and then put a short shifter in.

      @@petescarport I’m just going through all your videos on the 944 now. I have a lot of little upgrades I want to do while I have it garaged for the winter. Anything you suggest? Mine is. 85.5

      @@tonyschol4326 I plan to have a lot more videos in future. Its a car I will never get rid of but if I had money right now I would be working on suspension and brakes. I also plan to do exhaust very soon and then make the engine look nice. I want to clean the whole engine up and replace every seal/gasket.

      Oh man totally didn't realize. I actually planned to call you but realized it was like 6am your time. I couldn't get the car to shift into reverse for like half the day. Then I figured out my linkage was holding on by like one turn on the nut.

    That weld on the shift lever is like that from the factory

    Please do not be angry. But I think that the gear lever should only be replaced with a new one.
    A new one costs 35 euros
    I don't think these little ball bearings will last long. The first gear lever lasted 30 years.
    Shortening the shifting travel on to the gearbox is another theme.
    Sorry for the English if there are mistakes

      Thank you but this company has a lot of long standing customers and big RUclipsrs who have used this exact item with great success. It is an upgrade to the original one and will last longer.

      @@petescarport Hi, I see this product in some videos. The problem was always with the screws that arrive at the chassis.
      So I think the originals are the easiest. But if the customers are satisfied, that's okay.

    I have been having the same shifter issue, did you ever replace the rusted piece in the rear or did tightening it solve the problem?

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport  3 года назад +1

      I replaced it and it made a big difference. But ironically my clutch went out completely a few weeks later. I replaced clutch, water pump and timing belt all at once. Now she drives amazing

      Man I don’t remember if I recorded changing the rear bushings or not but they were toast. Ironically my clutch completely blew a few weeks later and I had to replace the entire clutch kit. Now it drives amazing. This shifter made a massive difference.
