Being a snake player who plays tournaments, I love the added padding in the knees and forearms, I'm diving literally every single point played, I want to conserve my body as much as possible so I don't wear out my body so quickly playing this sport, it has nothing to do with the pain, but when you are running full speed and diving onto a surface that is not always the most forgiving, I want that extra padding so I don't have to worry about every dive being so painful. All other padding, don't care for, keeping the essentials protected is what matters
if you're worried about your dives being painful you're not diving right, I played nationals for 4 years and always wear under armor with a T-shirt over top, along with my arm pads and knee pads (sometimes) under my pants at team practice, and not once have I or anyone I have ever seen play wearing the similar clothing ever be worried about hurting themselves from diving, if you ever watch the pros play, watch their snake players dive into the snake they usually aren't sprinting full speed and never are they standing up straight on their way in, get low to the ground and push off with your feet with your arms out and dive into the ground for it to catch you its a lot softer than you think it is
I've been playing paintball for just over 21 years ( I have been playing since November 1995) and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt I have taken a LOT worse bumps / scrapes in a professional wrestling ring than playing paintball full stop. As sports go as long as you know how to to dive & slide with proper form be it professional tournament ladder or recreational paintball the sport as a whole is the most safe and gentle sport one can playfull stop. Basketball football , baseball , soccer ,rugby, lacrosse, martial arts ( all types) motocross , BMX ,skateboarding , parkour , and every last form of professional racing are all FAR more dangerous and injury prone than paintball , bar none. Paintball without exception or hyperbole is the safest professional sport one can participate in. I am not arguing against padding as yeah there is no point in senseless self abuse. I just argue for a hard outer shell to the elbow and knee padding , this provides even more protection as well as a hard target roughly similar to the skin & bone underneath which provides ZERO underhanded additional bounce chance , thus increasing the need for movement & cover skills.
reignick1133 the only downside to this is padding g is less flexible, there would have to be a way to create a seam from the hard padding unit the soft material underneath, and section the hard padding it would be a kind of hard take to do for a company, one thing to do, but I think if companies just made denser padding on the outside of their pads it would work really well, and yes paintball regardless if your play style is the safest sport you can possibly play assuming you follow all the rules
Baseball catcher's kneepads have overcome the inflexibility problem while being rather rigid and for the seam between the hard and soft padding , we can look to the motorcycle racing industry ( which paintball as a sport has before see what was JT Rcing) and to football for reactive soft padding. The good news is unlike all of the padding used in all of the sports above , we can make really light breathable and flexible thin hard padding which will actually protect your joints from injury and to the user will feel almost exactly like the current pads which produce far too many bounces . Paintball's come a long way since Bob Gurnsey and his friends played the first game in the 1980's but the good news is we still have a LOT of advancements/ evolutions to go through.
Matt Gottschall i think mr paintball ruined my life got salted I like padding it provides protection when diving or other things like that and if you shoot someone and it bounces you should be able to shoot them again...if you can hit someone only one time and never again your buns at paintball
I'm going into my 18th season of tournament paintball. Pads on jerseys and pants should go. only kneepads elbow pads are in forearm pads should be allowed.
In the pre 06 golden age of paintball jerseys and pants had ZERO padding. I still have my Proto , DYE, WGP, System X and JT jerseys and pants which were just single layer cloth double stitched at all seams and were "gasp" lightweight / breathable and nothing else.
noooooooooo fuck off I don't wear knee pads comfort reasons and they never stay up my knees got fucked up with out padding also my padded pants break more paint the pads arnt that soft also I played the 1 on snake side not only do the thinner pads result in more of my joint and back pain but having arm pads keep my arms from getting fucked up diving 20-50 times a day just stfu if you don't like it ...... your wearing them too
No one is arguing about padding being there for orthopedic or injury reasons , rather that padding should be reduced / hard shelled to reduce potential cheating bounces. We want the players to be injury / pain free as possible , but no unfair advantages due to equipment. I.E. impact padding for those whom play aggressively but with a hard plastic outer shell to emulate the stiffness / rigidity of skin & bone without padding. I for one just want fair competition like the pre-PSP days just with all of the advancements in ergonomics we have seen since then.
I agree with you for the most part - no padding in jerseys and pants for D4 and up. Let the beginners have whatever they want so they don't get absolutely destroyed in their first tourney and never come back to the sport. I think the 2-layer system is a good way to go as well. I do think there is a place for elbow and knee pads as they really do increase player safety for sliding and diving, but they should count as 1 of 2 allowed layers and that is all that should be allowed with the one exception I'll mention next. The one place I might disagree AND wish a company would make a decent product is in bounce shirts ---- I hate 90% of the padding in them and it should not be allowed, BUT it really sucks getting lit up under the armpit in the side of the rib cage, which is a frequently exposed and tender area. I think padding just there in that I donno maybe 2" wide x 4" high area should be allowed provided it is more like the padding meant for protection rather than bounces (more firm vs. ridiculously pillowy). All that said, when I was a youngster just starting out my team frequently wore soccer shorts and matching t-shirts for tourneys, but we were young and invincible (pronounced "dumb")..... and it was the 90's..... so none of this stuff existed yet. Now I'm old and frail.
If you watch the whole video, the main concern in the comments is recognized that knee and elbow pads is not what he refers to, but excessive padding on jerseys and pants, in addition to having knee pads, elbow pads, and slide shorts. Personally I haven't played in any tournament yet but I do agree with what you are saying, I do wear a bounce shirt(padded shirt) under my jersey because people at my field tend to not care about shooting people from 2 feet away and jersey offers little to no protection because it lacks padding.
I’m just getting back into it and I remember tournament guys going sleeveless and just old paintball pants. I get sliding and all hurts but that’s just part of the game. And getting shot doesn’t hurt that bad ya wimps
I agree w/ another comment... Elbow and knee pads only. Those are essential for any aggressive sport. Knee and elbow pads are for sliding and genuinely protecting you from the ground.. Not trying to cheat the system, hoping for a bounce shot.
I agree with your opinion here. Under clothing "protection" in the form of slider shorts..knee pads..and elbow pads should be allowed. I am very surprised when I see some of the jerseys at the field with all this chest padding. I don't see how that is legal. I think pants should still be made tough and rugged but don't really need any additional padding. I also play on 100% turf and not really sure how much it helps in the grass and dirt states. NXL does play on a lot of grass and dirt too. recently I have not bee getting any bounces on my arm pads. seem to get more off of my vios XS
I don't wear padding and it sometimes bounces and it is apart of paintball and all that padding is for lateral slide and super man slides and i slid without padding just basic padding on my jersey and I slid into a sharp rock and I was out all season because I didn't wear extra padding and if you get one shot don't forget people overshoot like hell in the nxl and the padding helps in general but people aren't firing only one shot there firing 10+ a second one is gonna break so I guess it is a case of "git good" I guess but it depends on paint as well
Never even thought of this stuff. I know it's an old video, but this info is so valuable for noobs like me, especially coming from someone who's obviously passionate, knowledgeable, and not in anyone's pocket.
i can agree with this. the reason i start wearing any kind of padding at all is mainly because of my poor coordination traversing some terrain on rec ball fields. I'll find myself running and maybe trip or something similar and i use the pads just to make sure the potential shock/pain from the impact of god knows what doesn't take my mind off the game and on the pain of a dumb mistake. luckily i haven't gotten involved heavily into any kind of tournament play, but if i do, and the pads i have result in an increase in bounces, then i see the point of having to remove them for the sake of fair play. especially given that tournament fields are far more flat and smooth than most rec ball fields you'll see that rentals and other rec ball players are playing on.
After reading your title I got super triggered. After watching the full video I got untriggered. I agree with the shirts and pants idea but as a snake player myself I would seriously suffer without armpads but I do agree that armpads should be thinner to "prevent bouncing" and should rather focus on the protection from dives
Andrew Codner i know this is old but i agree with you. I am primarily a snake player but will fill any position my team needs. I only have elbow pads and have a pair of dye c14 i think pants. They have padding but the fact that the pants are kinda rigid to a point gives me more bounces. Every time i get hit in the padding the damn ball breaks. So i have no point to kill off the pants. I think that padded jerseys should go and if you wear pants with padding you don’t wear shorts like personal shorts over them. You either get boxers sliders pants or boxers personal shorts pants. Pick your poison. I have never worn slider shorts but have pants that have protected that and worn shorts under. It’s always been enough. Even from the old 08 empire smart parts and dye pants days. No padding at all but the crotch.
Loose jerseys are better for bounces than padding. I've had plenty of paint break on my pads. Have had paint bounce off of my mask lens. I like thin light jerseys with no patting and rock a cutoff tshirt under my jersey. I have elbow pads for diving. The pain of being hit isnt bad. If you wear pads for pain resistance you're missing the point. Paint will break when it breaks and bounces when it does.
I know I’m late but I 100% agree with you on this topic. Only elbow pads and knee pads is my argument though. Instead of jerseys make it a t shirt made of the same material to put the logo and sponsors but no under padding.
Hey Brad. I totally understand where youre coming from. Im a woodsballer and wear a vest. Not exactly to protect myself but it holds my mags, pods, etc. Under that I wear a jersey/overcoat thing. then maybe like a sweatshirt or shirt under that. no additional padding any where else. The vest is really hard and whenever someone hits me there I usually never feel it. So I always feel bad when I finds hit between my mag pouches or on the chest pad and I didnt call myself out. Its actually a really shitty feeling.
2 layer foam(soft inside, hard outside) or hard shell pads(same thing just hard plastic on the outside). No chance of bounces and it will provide actual protection. I mostly play in the woods, I crawl through stuff, dive through trees, and slide on gravel, pads are there to protect me from the field environment, and I have been debating wearing hard shell pads but they don't move all that well.
Here's an idea , how about : HARD elbow / forearm pads , standard kneepads maybe slider shorts/ soft cup ( getting shot in the junk hurts for either sex) AND NO OTHER PADDING WHATSOEVER. No padded jerseys , no bounce tops , no bounce caps, no padded pants, no unfair advantages There ya go , you are protected from the ground when diving and sliding , but have ZERO bounce assist. That is as fair as I can think and still toss a caveat to those whom like to play as an aggressive front player whom dives slides and crawls to snake side and in smaller bunkers. Any arguments for more than that is pretty much just wanting all of their padding as a cheat/ unfair advantage.
Elbow with forearm, knees, and slide shorts are necessary. Other than that I don't like padding because it restricts my movements too much. I have had to tape my elbows to slow down the bleeding from catching a rock, bunker stake, or whatever. You can have perfect slides or dives and you can still get hurt pretty bad. To me it is about safety. The same argument has been brought up about loose clothing, hats, and gloves many times.
Being in Arizona, Id rather have more breathable jerseys than padded. All you really need is the protection padding i.e. Forearm, knee and slide-shorts. Although I do wear pbrack flow pants... won't lie I love those pants but even then they only have crotch and knee padding and they aren't even that bouncy
I don't have a problem with pads in the pants around the knees, but the rest of it is a pretty ridiculous. The bounce shirts especially. I hadn't played paintball for 5 years and when I was reading through the NXL rule book I was blown away they allowed those.
omg you are sooo right. at my field no one wears acsessive padding cause. the rule is in my field bounces still count as real hits and you are out if you get bounced. so no one even botheres with heaps of pads.
I'm a referee at a rec ball field and today a few of the guys in one of our groups that showed up were wearing heavy padding on their jerseys and I literally watched during one of the games at least 4+ paintballs hit him in his side where his jersey had padding and every one of the paintballs bounced off even though our current two Star level paint is for some weird reason very brittle but every paintball that struck him bounced off. That would have been utter horse s*** if that had been a tournament. You get hit by four back-to-back paintballs while on the Run you should be out, not continue in the game because your jersey was heavily padded.
I totally agree, man. In tournament paintball there shouldn't be any padding on jerseys and pants. Knee pads and Arm pads I don't have a problem with. But jerseys and pants with tons of padding doesn't make sense. We're athletes. We should have pride in our skills, not padding.
MrBU3735 hmm 4-8 times a month and most do 1 or 2 days at home a week and a bunch even go to the gym for it 3ish days a week too and world cup turn out look like the nascar stands also football is boring to watch, basketball is boring to watch, masturbating is hard to watch goodday
Maybe change the rules to only accept hard shelled pads or non at all. That way those that are legitimately concerned about wearing the pads for safety reasons get the benefit without promoting bounces.
Haven't played paintball since the 90's, but I understand where you are coming from. I didn't do any speed ball tournaments in my time that was just getting big. You have a very valid point when it comes to excessive padding being used to get bouncers. Even in woods ball some people would try and sneak a few extra layers on. Players should be able to wear the knee pads, forearm pads, and slider shorts, but Jerseys and pants shouldn't have pads. Padding should protect the players from injury and let them play more aggressively by being able to slide into position behind bunkers. Not give them an advantage preventing paintball breaks.
as someone who can’t get knee pads that fit, pants are the only thing that save my knees. My knee pads are either too tight on the thighs and loose on my calves, or they just fall off. I have larger thigh from years of sports and weight lifting my thighs are not 100% proportionate to my calves. So I firmly disagree on padded pants, but maybe like flow pants would do the trick.
I agree with you, it has gotten a little out of control for sure. But, I believe under padding is fine as long it's not excessive, and it's there to protect your knee, ball sack and elbows, that's it. Padding in other areas is for one purpose, increasing your chances of a bounce.
Ya i totally agree with u. I feel elbow and knee pads are pretty necessary especially for snake players. Cause if NXL banned all padding it would really suck to dive, but all those Planet Eclipse and Empire chest protectors are pretty ridiculous especially in a tourney.
I’m all for padded protection that goes under your jersey and pants, however pants and jerseys shouldn’t have any. Personally I could only find pants with padding so I often find myself getting bounced and my jersey is as thin as it gets. So no bounces there. All in all I love the sport and hope one day it gets moved to the next level, but right now it needs some tweaks.
I think that there is nothing wrong with padding and lots of it. The problem is the bounce. To eliminate the bounce and to get paintball break a hard outer layer should be added to all padding. Soft on the inside for protection, hard outer layer for paintball break. This seems like such a simple fix, that I start to believe that padding is more for cheating then protection.
Exactly why I am not crazy about airball, the bounces. Paintballs strewn all over the court with quite a few intact. When playing the snake, a ref can’t always tell if you’ve been hit on the elbows or knees because they’re slathered in crushed paintballs. If you are honest, you can still tell if you’ve been legitimately tagged or not if the pads are thin enough. I had never seen a really padded jersey until I visited a paintball store in Sacramento, near a Belair, about a week ago. The thing looked like a ninja turtle costume. My jaw dropped. Who runs this store?
I agree! Knee pads, elbow pads, and slide shorts are essential but padding on jerseys and pants are unnecessary. I remember when I got my jersey I was confused why there was extra padding on the forearm I was like “why do I need padding here I already have elbow pads?” I just see no application for jersey pads or pants pads. Every NXL player already has underpadding anyway lol
I completely agree recreational play padding doesn't really mean anything cuz it's for fun but Tournament level it should be knee pads slider shorts your arm sliders and then after that jerseys and pants should be bare minimum of material
I wear Bnkr Kings older style pants with the shins padded a bit but it’s because I end up diving a lot. I don’t like Joggers.. they feel like I’m gonna rip them when I dive and slide.
I have padded jersey and pants, but I don't wear any padding inside the jersey because they limit my movements and they are uncomfortable. I do hate people with full padding, but there's no watch to tell if a player wears full padding under the jersey or he/she only has jersey's elbow padding. They should ban shoulder and chest padding. I think they can keep knee and elbow pads. Note: I'm a back player
This also begs the question should the flexible bottoms for masks like the eflex and proflexs be banned because I get a lot more bounces off of those then I do any padding
What pair of pants has too much padding? Il agree on jerseys with chest padding and even ones with a shit ton of the forearm padding but pants are fine
Excessive padding, yes, they need to have a limit for it. Knee pads and elbow pads to me are a must because I have played countless of times without them when I'm always on the ground and always have been a aggressive front player. Since I tried them for a couple of games, I feel like it's a major need for my aggression. However, slider shorts, no, just my exalts alone is enough. Top wise, only a dry fit and xl mesh Jersey size. Forget about the padded shirt. I like to move, not to feel a tone of protection and be stiff as a board. I believe they only should limited the padding to elbow/forearm and knees. Everything else can just go
Man I just last weekend had a total but controlled meltdown on padding and bounce gear when used in magfed. where balls are much harder than tourney paint that's brittle. People using pads are using them to bounce hit not to protect from pain. People should use harder material to protect from pain of hits. I also practice taekwondo and have my armor set... those hand and leg armor pieces are light, flexible and they'd totally negate any pain while still bouncing as much as bare skin.
Love all your vids. Disagree with this one for sure. I used to play with no pads, Dye pants, and a t shirt. Now I am getting older, knees can't take it, same with elbows. Now I rock Dye jersey and knee pads.
I do not wear any pads lol. In fact this past weekend we played a three man. I had three people at some point throughout the day so "oh dude, you bounced me" we were shooting pretty brittle valken redemption pro. Two of those guys had those bounce shirts on I know because at the end of the day you go around and say "hey man, nice job today" give them a handshake and a pat on the shoulder or back. I'm going to start wearing everything made of bubble wrap lol. I wear some old valken pants with absolutely zero padding. My jersey has the slightest pad in the elbow lol. I generally wear proshields or profilers so you know you're not getting a bounce on those lol. I personally don't care if they wear memory foam padding lens and hopper shots don't bounce lol.
this is pretty much on point, however its not like the padding on those jerseys are helping bounces the padding is to thin and paint used is always 5 star
I also agree with you snake guys. You get that padding. But then maybe the nxl needs to institute positions for players and they're padding can be different. In the NFL you have to have a certain number for positions. Centers 50's, guards 60's, tackles 70's. Receivers 80's or 0-19 ect...
I agree with the jersey 100%, Pants on the other hand are a tough call. Excessive padding should be banned but let the player either wear pants with pads in them and no padding under OR no pads in pants but can wear pads under them.
Over padding is so corny . It takes away from the sport . Those guys have so much padding they can't even tell that they've been shot . That's ridiculous
Comparing my 2013 Raza jerseys to my 2017 Raza jerseys, the padding is 1/4 of what it used to be. Don’t even get me started with pants...PE Distortion pants vs GI Glides? I remember the first time I wore this super minimalistic new “generation” of pants and got shot on my inner thigh...that left a bruise like none other. Padding today is nothing compared to what it used to be. That being said, want to combat thick padding? Overshoot. Someone doesn’t go out on a bounce? Don’t stop shooting until the player comes off. This is tournament paintball, after all.
Padding should only be for sensitive areas like the groin and neck. Knee pads and Elbow pads are okay too in my books. I got shot in the head yesterday(no padding) and it bounced, also shot someone in the neck (no padding) and it bounced. I don't really see why all the extra padding causes more bounces it seems to happen a lot anyway.
Although the topic never crossed my mind I see where you are coming from, and like what you are saying. I myself have lost a match due to bounces, and can understand what you mean. I also agree with allowing knee, elbow, and forearm pads because those do actually serve a purpose. Let em know what's up start a petition lol.
Padding can add life to the clothing though, since the pad resists tearing better than the usual jersey and pant material. I agree though, 2 layers of padding is overkill and for nxl level tournaments should probably be banned.
There is a line to draw here. To much padding is bad I agree, but knee and elbow pads should stay. Whether it be protection, safety, or whatever else you label it as. Any more than that is not needed. If you have half decent cover you should only really need to worry about your forearms anyways. Also I am somebody that would classify my self as having too much padding, how do I solve this? I call myself out when I get a bounce.
yeah im with you on that the only padding i think is justified is knee pads and MAYBE elbow pads. layering your pads is like a pitcher using a canon in baseball
LOVE THE RANT MY GANGSTA!! However, i do agree with your rant! I play in cargo shorts and a long sleeve shirt. I do wear knee pads. I prefer skateboard knee pads due to knee injuries and playing more rec (a lot of rocks). but i don't use any forearm or elbow pads due to not diving a lot (did i say rocks...i mean rocks!).
I definitely think the NXL should keep slider shorts arm pads and knee pads but have lighter pads unlike exalt freeflex etc. where those you could almost always get a bounce. And I also think that it would limit movement in the sport because players would not wanna get bruised and burned knees and arms from sliding. Also we look at these players like Kyle spike (sorry if I spelled that wrong) but we see him break out to the snake and if had no options for padding he would have a really rough time taking that side of the field, so in the end I think excessive padding should not be aloud but some sort of padding should be aloud
Isn't that how College tournaments are? I strongly agree with that. Wearing too much padding is just as a way to cheat basically. There use to be a guy at my local field I called the Marshmallow guy. He would always wear the biggest bounce vest available. It was stupid.
My only point against you is that it would force players to buy a new jersey which might not be a big deal for sponsored players but costly for the little guys.
haven't tournament played b4 but am entirely behind this, this sounds ridiculous, bounce shots are really crappy just in regular play, can't imagine how feels in tournaments,, especially if it's the reason you don't make it as far as you should have
I agree pads shouldn't be on jerseys or pants, but slide pants, knee pads and eblow/forearm pads definitely have there place. I used to get hurt all the time back in the day late 90's, early 2000's before there was much padding.
OK thank you for clarifying on the padding every time you talked about this in previous videos I was extremely concerned because I play the snake and not only do I play the snake I am a person that has had surgery on their arms and shoulders due to playing the snake and I was very much of your mindset but nowadays I really enjoy wearing like arm pads but I totally see what you mean in the Jersey I thought you meant no padding ever I feel I feel much better now
I used to not wear paddings I’m a regular player ain’t no where near pro….but I have a lot of tattoos and I got shot in my shoulder and it slightly damaged my tat…after that day I ordered a chest protector and elbow and forearm protectors …I use to say people were bitches for wearing protection but now I understand why some use them …although the main reason people use them is for bounces i use mine because of my tats
So yeah i think everyone pretty much agrees with you! excessive padding is ridiculous. elbow pads, knee pads and some forearm only for sliding should be allowed.
you've been around the sport for a while...you know the JT pro pants from 08? i don't wear kneepads when i wear those. they actually have a fantastic amount of padding edit: i do agree with you for the most part. bounce caps and bounce shirts are ridiculous. and i have noticed a trend in pants where it seems like the padding has been getting less and less over the years. forearm/elbow pads are a lifesaver though and i do agree that those should stay. but we all know that sometimes paint bounces (shit happens). paint loves to bounce off my fingers and i don't wear gloves.
Bro I play tournament and I know how you feel but at the same time it looks cool, when you slide it helps and it has less of a chance of breaking so that is the point of padding or is it not
knees and elbows that's it for protection for joints sounds fair but why cant the outside of these pads have some sort of harder outer coating and soft on the inside? wtf a "bounce top" and people say the cheating in airsoft is bad......
I do not think you're crazy, i think it is ridiculous the amount of padding (in addition to PROTECTIVE GEAR, which is not the same thing) that people wear for tournament paintball. At some point it negatively affects your movement, heat dissipation (which is huge in florida), and it adds way too much in the way of energy absorption (balls are supposed to crack and not bounce). Thanks for being passionate, i like this take better than the one you had about Ramping - although, i do think that capped semi auto is a skill that most pb players lack.
please keep doing what ur doing.. padding should have never been allowed in the first place other then non competitive play... DYE is so guilty of this
Richard Averett remember when the C4s first came out... Padding then was just a Jersey and Pants. Now, we have specially designed items for a specific purpose. It is almost to a degree of the rules not matching the market / equipment available. Very similar to our issues with Rate of Fire. Then again, I wonder if excessive padding was implemented because we could shot at 20 + bps in early 2000s... If we removed all the padding from the outer-layer, most of the inner-layers are hard compression materials should address most of the bounces.
I feel like it should go at least for the pros and I also feel like they should bring back semi not that true semi stuff but semi I can cap it but it makes it completely skill based ur gun isn't doing anything
But it hurts. I prefer padding on my spine. I had a DVT in my t4 part of my spine and it’s paralyzed me for a couple of weeks. It was a whole week before I could move my toes. I just want extra padding to protect that area of the spine mostly. I do only wear a padded shirt with sleeves to play and I appreciate the padding it offers. And I def need padding on my jewels.
Maybe not ban it but only use a hard exterior layor on the pading not tick but enough to break the painballs I went recently for my first game in 5 years and I use no padding 90 percent of hits on me didn't break without padding I remember that never happened back in the day I left the field Everytime with wlets everywhere now that doesn't happen I'm with ya man
Being a snake player who plays tournaments, I love the added padding in the knees and forearms, I'm diving literally every single point played, I want to conserve my body as much as possible so I don't wear out my body so quickly playing this sport, it has nothing to do with the pain, but when you are running full speed and diving onto a surface that is not always the most forgiving, I want that extra padding so I don't have to worry about every dive being so painful. Well now days pants and jerseys barely have any padding at all.
Jason bugz Noll 92 i agree, but I do enjoy having something extra protecting the goods
In the pre 06 golden age of paintball jerseys and pants had ZERO padding.
I still have my Proto , DYE, WGP, System X and JT jerseys and pants which were just single layer cloth double stitched at all seams and were "gasp" lightweight / breathable and nothing else.
noooooooooo
fuck off I don't wear knee pads comfort reasons and they never stay up
my knees got fucked up with out padding also my padded pants break more paint the pads arnt that soft
also I played the 1 on snake side
not only do the thinner pads result in more of my joint and back pain
but having arm pads keep my arms from getting fucked up diving 20-50 times a day
just stfu if you don't like it ...... your wearing them too
No one is arguing about padding being there for orthopedic or injury reasons , rather that padding should be reduced / hard shelled to reduce potential cheating bounces.
No padding. I wear a MORPHSUIT everytime I play
Fucking mad lad😂
Now I'm old and frail.
arm pads / knee pads / and some slider shorts is all you need these padded jerseys , pants and bounce shirts should be banned
Padding should be gotten rid of but not elbow and knee pads
I agree
If you watch the whole video, the main concern in the comments is recognized that knee and elbow pads is not what he refers to, but excessive padding on jerseys and pants, in addition to having knee pads, elbow pads, and slide shorts.
Personally I haven't played in any tournament yet but I do agree with what you are saying, I do wear a bounce shirt(padded shirt) under my jersey because people at my field tend to not care about shooting people from 2 feet away and jersey offers little to no protection because it lacks padding.
I still wear Redz Knee and Shin guards. That's it.
I would like to walk beyond 40 years old.
YO! lets bring this back up
After reading your title I got super triggered.
May aswell make paintball players wear skinny pants and tight shirts 😂 it's baggy clothes that mostly help with bounces!
Путин сука i want to get a new vest that seems like itd be more comfy and tight. The new one I got my eye on is not NEARLY as thik and bulky.
I already knew i was ass didnt have to call me out 😭
Here's an idea , how about : HARD elbow / forearm pads , standard kneepads maybe slider shorts/ soft cup ( getting shot in the junk hurts for either sex) AND NO OTHER PADDING WHATSOEVER. No padded jerseys , no bounce tops , no bounce caps, no padded pants, no unfair advantages
There ya go , you are protected from the ground when diving and sliding , but have ZERO bounce assist.
True. Ive had more then one bounce off a chest shot off my padded HK Army jersey.
I see, nice insight fella. Hope for your best!
MrBU3735 hmm 4-8 times a month
and most do 1 or 2 days at home a week
and a bunch even go to the gym for it 3ish days a week too
and world cup turn out look like the nascar stands
also football is boring to watch,
basketball is boring to watch,
masturbating is hard to watch
goodday
I'm wondering which athlete's signature is worth a million dollars.
Not a single person in the world's sig is worth a million "worth"
Not selling point
OMG SOMEONE FINALLY MADE A VIDEO ON THIS!!
Every NXL player already has underpadding anyway lol
i can totally agree with back chest and shoulder pads for pro games but what about rib pads
Путин сука so that in 20+ years you won't come home to your children and wife with scars all over your body
I completely agree recreational play padding doesn't really mean anything cuz it's for fun but Tournament level it should be knee pads slider shorts your arm sliders and then after that jerseys and pants should be bare minimum of material
Padded jersey's used to be illegal. There was uproar when Dye first came out with jersey's that had minor padding. Now they are ridiculous.
Jersey pads and pant pads are a joke there's no need for them I'm with you on that. Get the petition started abd I'll totally sign it
I agree I only run forearm pads but that’s to protect me from the ground more than anything else.
I'm still wearing the same jersey since '03 and pants without ant padding since '06.
I agree 100% , but I think padding were you slide on knees and elbows and forarms should be in place.
Love all your vids. Disagree with this one for sure. I used to play with no pads, Dye pants, and a t shirt. Now I am getting older, knees can't take it, same with elbows. Now I rock Dye jersey and knee pads.
Actual knee and elbow pads are great, I just think the additional padding added to pants and jerseys is a bit much.
We need elbow pads for dives. But they could maybe set a regulation for standard thickness.
the only pads I wear are knee and elbow I hate to much padding it stops my motions
Now I want to know what you think of the old school turtle caps?
Have you tried PBRack pants? Maybe do a review if you have.
this is pretty much on point, however its not like the padding on those jerseys are helping bounces the padding is to thin and paint used is always 5 star
The only padding I wear is my elbow pads and the padding that’s on my pants that legit it, or I might play with a hoody if the weather is pretty bad
Over padding is so corny . It takes away from the sport . Those guys have so much padding they can't even tell that they've been shot . That's ridiculous
Paulo Ramirez True
The most padding I wear is a padded shirt, empire prevail pants and knee pads but I play rec ball
Let em know what's up start a petition lol.
get rid of padded jersey/pants. get rid of ramping, switch to limited paint. Then I'll give a sh*t about tournament paintball
NXL pump division
"get rid of ramping" fuck off
Let them ramp, with limited paint it wouldn't matter. I'd love to see them limit the paint. It would change the game.
Padding can add life to the clothing though, since the pad resists tearing better than the usual jersey and pant material. I agree though, 2 layers of padding is overkill and for nxl level tournaments should probably be banned.
Coming back into the game after 10 years and seeing that some of these new players are as soft as their jerseys.
I've had injuries and surgeries on both my knees. If I didint have knee pads I wouldn't be able to play at the same level
Then wear knee pads... but the padding in pants ain't doing squat for your knees
yeah im with you on that the only padding i think is justified is knee pads and MAYBE elbow pads. layering your pads is like a pitcher using a canon in baseball
My only point against you is that it would force players to buy a new jersey which might not be a big deal for sponsored players but costly for the little guys.
haven't tournament played b4 but am entirely behind this, this sounds ridiculous, bounce shots are really crappy just in regular play, can't imagine how feels in tournaments,, especially if it's the reason you don't make it as far as you should have
I show up in full padding and catchers gear. When I play snake I wear my hockey goalie gear.
they should ban ramping and bring back an uncapped or capped semi auto of about 15 - 20 bps... bring the skill and aggression back...
As long as I can at least wear some kind of knee padding I think you are right.
Agree with excessive padding on jerseys, like chest and shoulder area. Although I have had a bounce off my goggles in the past, luck af!
I just at least don't wanna be shot in the family jewels...
you've been around the sport for a while...you know the JT pro pants from 08? i don't wear kneepads when i wear those. they actually have a fantastic amount of padding
edit: i do agree with you for the most part. bounce caps and bounce shirts are ridiculous. and i have noticed a trend in pants where it seems like the padding has been getting less and less over the years. forearm/elbow pads are a lifesaver though and i do agree that those should stay. but we all know that sometimes paint bounces (shit happens). paint loves to bounce off my fingers and i don't wear gloves.
Tournament yes, for rec and beginners like me padding is needed until you get more comfortable in the game.
Should keep forearm padding and leg padding. But excess clothing underneath the jersey should not be aloud (accept a T-shirt or 2) idk
please keep doing what ur doing.. padding should have never been allowed in the first place other then non competitive play...
I’ve been shot in my 12 inch Mohawk a few times. I gel makes it rock hard.
I feel like it should go at least for the pros and I also feel like they should bring back semi not that true semi stuff but semi I can cap it but it makes it completely skill based ur gun isn't doing anything
I mean I'm not a pro and probably wont be, but being 31 at this point I need the padding to stop getting hurt sliding
I was gonna say WTF but then you said jerseys and I agree because sliding and shit you need some knee and elbow pads.
I would not be able to play paintball if I couldn't wear knee pads! :)
I feel ya!!
