- Today I'm reacting to and trying some "plumbing hacks" from the RUclips channel: 5-Minute Crafts. In some cases, I guess some of these would be considered plumbing hacks, but to be honest, most of these just seem ridiculous. Check the video and let me know what you think about these awful plumbing hacks!

I love this. This reminds me of “How to cook that” youtube channel and she’s debunking 5 minute crafts baking and cooking “hacks”
There's actually other channels that have debunked these so called "hacks" videos in their respective areas of expertise. There's at least one video testing the hacks of darn near any subject that 5 Minute Crafts, Troom Troom, or any of the other well known hacks channels, of which they've dedicated videos to specific subjects. (like cooking, soap making, candle making, art, makeup and beauty, gardening, and many more). I've binge-watched these types of testing videos on a few different occasions. I'd highly recommend it. (In fact, that's what I was doing and how I found this video.)
Ann is great

@@gamingwithalexander6030 Yup! That's the problem when you have companies in countries that don't care about copyright, trademarks, etc., making videos. Those types of content farm, clickbaity videos, don't care who they are hurting, innocent people trying their "hacks" or honest content creators trying to make an honest living using their own ideas and inventions. Notice how the a lot of the countries where such YT channels are located, are also countries where they make a lot of bootleg/ counterfeit products, and where there are a lot of phone and email scams stealing info and money from people, particularly from Americans, Canada, Aussies, and Brits. These scammers claim that those countries somehow deserve to have people of all walks of life, scammed out of their money because of the percentage of poor folks in their own country, and the fact that
the countries listed above, actually have laws and regulations in place to keep workplaces safe and employees treated much more fairly.
A lot of Asian countries have little or no requirements for employee safety nor employee rights, no minimum salary, and some countries even allow or even encourage employers to beat, whip, burn, or otherwise physically, psychologically, and emotionally harm employees for even simple mistakes or for not working as well or as fast as the employer wants, whether or not the demands they are placing on their employees are reasonable or even possible. They also still use slave labor, child labor, and other such practices illegal in most other countries, not to mention many of the working conditions are extremely dangerous, inhumane, and just overall horrible.
This guy is basically mario & luigi as one person
Wario is the one who stops up the toilet
When putting a 2 liter bottle of water in your tank, check the flush on the second flush, when the tank has less water in it. I always love seeing professionals talk about their crafts. Speaking of crafts...it wouldn't be a 5MC video without at least one project that uses $5 worth of hot glue to replace a $1 alternative. I wonder if they own stock in glue companies.
Our the big zip ties when you can buy a good cheap drain snake like he was saying for $1 at dollar tree
I was thinking the same thing buy product for X dollars or make something that completely doesn't fulfill all of that function for twice the cost if not more and while you're at it build a hot glue gun that can burn down your house.
@@imark7777777 Exactly! People keep acting like making things at home is always "better", but why? Most life hack tutorials are just ways of making a shoddier product for more money. The only times these videos are helpful is when their solutions are good in a pinch and genuinely only use materials most people easily have on hand. Otherwise, if I have to go to the store to buy 20 lb of hot glue sticks, why not just go buy the think I'm trying to replicate but worse because I'm not an artisan?
There are some things people can and should do DIY, but it really discounts professionals when these videos give the impression that the inexperienced novice could do just as good for a fraction of the cost.
You can buy a bag of glue sticks at dollar tree. You could probably make at least 4 with that bag so actually its a 25 cent fix
@@imark7777777 I think the plug idea was great yes you can buy a plug at the store for a few bucks but they don't always fit very well. Us the balloon and hot glue method take plug out of balloon when cooled and decorate the plug and now you have a perfect plug for your drain and you can make it pretty so no ugly rubber plug hanging out on the tub.

This guy makes me happy. I love when people not only take their job seriously, but are passionate about what they do regardless of what it is.
I worked as a janitor/handyman for 6-7 years here of Finland when i was young. The area i was responsible for had approx. ~6500 tenants, meaning i got my fair share of clogged toilets to deal with during my time at that job. I remember exactly 2 toilets that didn't un-clog by pouring large bucket of water (like proper pour fast, not slowly) from the max height you can lift/reach straight into the toilet (had to take out the long wire/metal brush thingy with a crank on it for those, don't know what it is called in english). Usually with the first bucket, on rare cases needed 2. The method was so effective that i didn't even bring the plunger with me when i had a report of clogged toilet. The speed and force of the water pouring is such that it doesn't splash around the bathroom when you do it right / hit the toilet right.
I've been lied to, where tf is his red hat and why isn't he talking spaghetti

Their full channel name should be: ”5 minute crafts for 1 minute problems”

Maybe, but those vinegar ones are great. I keep lots of vinegar (and baking soda) around as a more natural cleaning agent. On top of everything else, you have one product that is incredibly versatile in its use, and as a bonus is pretty darn cheap compared to these chemical agents.

Using nail clippers as scissors is literally what I do for everything when I have no scissors! (I have a separate set that I use for my nails)
I typically just use a knife. I have a few short and rather sharp ones which work for basically everything a scissors will. Could use a kitchen Knife, but those are longer, so more awkward, and more dangerous.

he's wrong though. A plunger can't put as much pressure as a bowl full of water can.
And also there's something called cleaning products. Yeah =D
5minute crafts "tips" are of two kinds: the totally stupid and not working ones, or the ones to which you can say "there's a thing to do that thing, you know?"
@Ryan Lam a 5 gallon bucket of water is equal to 40ish pounds of water pushing the clogged substance. A plunger rarely unclogs toilets, usually you end up using an auger. But yes a bucket of water can unclog your toilet
@@eftclipman8834 He's not wrong. The saran wrap covers the toilet, making a seal and you push on it applying pressure to the clog. A plunger creates a seal around the drain in the toilet and you push it down to apply pressure to the clog. It's the same fucking thing.

Y'know it's funny because in Australia a plumber will charge you several hundred for changing a washer in your kitchen sinks handle. The worst part is that it doesn't even fix the problem, but that's what they decided was the problem, so that's what they did and now you need to hired them again for another 30min fix that doesn't do anything and they charge you several hundred for. After spending a couple thousand they might actually get around to fixing the issue with your kitchen sink, but by that point you might as well just fix it yourself. Because fucking hell I just wanted my toilet to stop spewing brackish water onto my bathroom floor, why are you fixing the sink, ffs!?

Yeah, literally in the ones with animals and pets, they are either in uncomfortable, small spaces, given products even from them that’s got the worst edges and can actually hurt them, or literal abusive solutions to things you should expect of an animal. Like there was one that was like “cat on the counter, taking your food. Put duct tape with the sticky facing up on the counter:” Or “cats are being cats and interested in plants? Stick poky toothpicks so that the cat learns to stay away.” No, they’ll get hurt possibly. Couple things:
1. With Saran wrap, it's great in case of no plunger or broken plunger.
2. COCA-COLA to clean the toilet, it's terrific to use leftover half drank bottles and prevent line or other scale, not traditional cleaning
3. DIY Drain Plug, They are great in heat of the moment situations when you move somewhere and didn't realize prior there was no plug and fyi, the filled it with hot glue but I've seen people uses silicone and shape it to the specific drain using the weight of the water and time.
4. Toothpaste in tank. If you are a crafty person, I'll do you one better, purchasing several items from the dollar store, you can make what is essentially a non bubbling or fizzing bathbomb for your tank that colors the water, deodorizes and prevents scaling. I used to make them for myself and quite a few friends and family. Some of the possible ingredients baking soda, fragrance/essential oil, food coloring ... I can't give away all my secrets. My man is really up at 8:55AM watching 5 minute pluming crafts.
Yes I'm subscribing xD
He probably wakes up at like 6 am

@@supremeshrek8096 bruh, at the beginning there is a clock with the time lmao,
Woosh maybe?
That's me right now XD
8:48 My wife and her mother swear by the baking soda + vinegar + salt + boiling water treatment. This doesn't work unless you use it weekly, and only delays the inevitable clog from hair or grease.
I implored her to not pour boiling water in our sinks. Of course, one 9f the two vanity sinks in the master bathroom IMMEDIATELY cracks from thermal expansion. Turns out this was a custom size sink you can't get at a home improvement store. To replace the broken sink meant replacing both sinks, the granite counter top, and losing space under the sinks to accommodate plumbing to get to the odd placement of the drain pipe for the custom sinks. All of this, because she didn't want to wait for me to get home and spend 10 minutes unclogging one of the two sinks.
In short, don't pour boiling water into porcelain sinks nor into drain pipes not intended to handle high temperatures.
You didn't come home to a clogged sink though..... so she nailed it. High 5 the wife!!!!
@@mscarmen00369 I came home to a broken sink that is still clogged and filled with hot water and salt.
kainpwnsu ugh when will people learn that boiling water and glass/ ceramic don’t mix
@@mscarmen00369 Yeah, that $6,000 high-five. No.
@@erikcrouch7881 oh, I know. I just had flooring busted up yesterday and get to watch more work today. The dollars fly away. But somehow I manage to laugh about all of it after it's done. I do really get it.
The baking soda+vinegar+hot water for a clogged sink works! I just did it to my sink when it was clogging up with no visible blockage for me to clean. Did this and it was unclogged
"Fecal Remnants" is my new band name. Thanks Roger!
I feel like half the video he’s being sarcastic
Just half???
The other half is making fun of the hacks
LegalDogecoin yeah via sarcasm
He reminds me of my grandpa, so I automatically 100% trust him.
You grandpa actually had to change their identity recently, I cannot tell you why, let’s just say some legal issues arose, and here he is now.
@@MattIsTheCat That sounds like something that would happen to my grandpa... what a lovely man.
The incredible amount of dad energy radiating from this video is amazing
the best plumming hack you can have is to call a plumber that you can trust
“We’re gonna check back in on the toothpaste hack later” *never does*
I was looking for Somone else to notice
It never existed.
Or maybe it took too long.
I noticed and was going to comment, but you beat me to it.
I almost went a got a tube and threw it in but, them I remembered they sell the drop in tabs and you get a few tabs for a buck!
Not gonna lie tho, that stache is probably the nicest and memorable PRO stache i have been seen after mumbo jumbo
However, I'm not sure if Ollie could actually grow a Mumbo Mustache, he is quite young and fair haired.
@@aandj1989 nah, i talked about mumbo and not oli,
Lmao xD Agreed

Baking soda plus acid produces gas; the bubbling looks stunning, but I'm not sure whether it will unplug a drain. Vinegar or any acid will solve scale. Hot water will solve grease.
Scale is more of a problem in the bathroom, grease is more of a problem in the kitchen.
