This is an utterly fascinating view into the design process that feels like it could have come from a $200 per head conference presentation instead of a free youtube video. I'm definitely going to be picking a few of these steps to add into my workflow when I start a new project now.
Henry Ford is a wild person to quote. But, if I may offer a compliment. Yes the build looks nice and all that, but there's more. While watching the video and the original, it was clear how much you understand and excel at environmental storytelling. Like, your ability to infer mood and character and subtext through perspective and colour is genuinely awe inspiring. So... good job with that.
I really appreciate the behind the scenes. I was so in awe by what was being built I didn't even entirely question why it was being "placed" so unminecraftly. Now that I see the trick I am inspired by your dedication to presenting the builds in that way. Truly awesome to see so many different tools were used to create the build. Thank you for learning them in the first place and using them to make something so freaking cool!
Repeat this process, your channel will be where you want it if you do. Consistency and persistence pays off! Love the underground / overground city planning tease!
I never go this in-depth into the design process, I just start with a general idea 😂, and I highly recommend world painter it is really easy to use for building terrain
You didn't just build the best thing you could make, you created one of the best builds Minecraft has ever seen! I hope this project as well as your awesome and inspiring videos about it go down in history, as a testament to human ingenuity and endurance :) Just phenomenal
I would love some playgame footage of you experiencing the world or interacting with everything from a first person perspective! Its already such an immersive world but would be so interesting to see!!!
As a fellow architectural designer, this is amazing. Apart from how beautiful this is in Minecraft, the process behind it perfect! Integrating rhino, initial design philosophy, and overall elegance/narrative! Best thing I have seen on the internet in a very long time! Bravo my friend!
Here because I just had my brains on the floor from the original video!!! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. This just makes Solarpunk City that much more epic. Hats off to you! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
absolutely stunning, insane, breath taking love it! i have been writing about a world, as a project but its "vibe" / "feel" is a mix between "dub-step" / "cyberpunk", but its "high fantasy" so i call it "urban Fantasy step", basically fantasy magical neon urban dystopia, your city is a nice place were people want to live, my urban dystopia is somewhere people had to live. and watching you make this was such a morale boost, i am never gonna make it in "3D" but this boosted my confidence that i should keep at it and keep writing, cant wait to see what you build in the future.
Ok seriously Well done i watched the build it ttook you 6 months, but that being said the planning and detail and block out a year preparation realistic, thank you so much for showing us all the process because i only see the build never the planning and thought process, Well Done Sluda Well Done SUB, ona personal note ths method applies to anything in life which i greatly needed to see as i struggle with adhd so focusing on one thing is a challenge but this just helped me cement a core discipline i was lacking because being a visual learner i need to see a process through and through to understand the foundation and diiscipline in how it is applied thank you for doing this sluda
This is such a fascinating video and the build was just perfect. I've never seen a minecraft video like this I appreciate the down to earth nature truly amazing work
hey are you an architect? seeing you use things like programs and site plan and *rhino* :o, that was unexpected. and for brainstorming quickly here's a fun trick we use, instead of working with text use tracing paper and just overlay a new sheet every time on the plan to quickly make a new idea, helps squeeze out the ideas without getting too stuck up on whatever comes up first
you should check out grasshopper for rhino! its a plugin that allows for parametric design, architectural studios like Zaha Architects use it to create parametric architecture! it works similar to how blender uses commands and such, it's really good to create shapes like the apartment building you showed but at a very precise and quick way.
One the original video/build and this one are both awesome and I really enjoyed them. Two, why at 10:30 was the smoke from the chimney of the second to last house going backwards?(downwards).

I appreciate that! it's funny to imagine a 200$/person minecraft conference. on second thought, that sounds awesome

I love this so much!! I'm a Design Student and you give me so much inspiration, thank you so much for your hard work and ideas!!
good luck in school!
@SludaBuilds ty ^^
I think you should design a frostpunk, and a dieselpunk style city
who are all these punks and why are they so cool!
can you please make a video of you walking around this city instead of shots above it?
Fascinating. Gold. Thanks for sharing !!!!

I love zha! I used grasshopper to help model the gum wrapper building 😎
You should just straight up make a cool-looking but also very grounded and realistic looking futuristic city next
tbf if real architecture was my 9-5 id probably want to take advantage of minecraft not having gravity as much as i could too
@ true, I was mostly talking about the build style tho
Can you try doing cyberpunk next
Yay finnaly shovel241 Recognition
Any thoughts towards creating an underground city. Maybe have something like that massive cave in Wakanda.
has definitely crossed my mind. maybe a future build!
I literally never watch Minecraft build content but this and your build video are some of my favorite videos on the platform
11:30 it looks like the W350 tower
yep hes doing a steampunk world look at 3:03
can you build post apocalyptic city?
One the original video/build and this one are both awesome and I really enjoyed them.
Two, why at 10:30 was the smoke from the chimney of the second to last house going backwards?(downwards).
youre very perceptive! I just needed more footage of that part and im lazy so i reversed the previous clip
bro how do you make land (custom blocks)
