Watched this show every weekend. It came on our local NBC affiliate right after Saturday Night Live. I usually stayed up to watch it as a teenager and always taped it on the VCR. I would watch every show multiple times until the point I could literally recite what they were going to say and tell you the qualifying times. Saturdays those days were: Show up at the slot car / RC track around 10:00 am and race all day. Come home and watch Saturday Night Live (when it was good in the early 90's) and then watch Tuff Trax right after. Wake up Sunday morning to cinnamon rolls in the oven and watch the Tuff Trax show I just saw 6 hours or so before on VHS tape. Fast forwarding through the commercials of course!!!
I grew up watching every single one of these guys. Thanks to the influence of Tuff Trax broadcasts I now work within the industry. It PAINED me to have to miss this and work the Philly Monster Jam that weekend but watching this broadcast brought a tear to my eye to relive it. WELL DONE to everyone involved with this and i can only pray for an Unfinished Business II someday somewhere.
This was well done and it was missing five of the more famous trucks that were a part of TNT back in the day. USA-1, Bigfoot, the Kong trucks and Grave Digger
How the hell am I just finding this? This is magical. As a kid that grew up with the 1989 Tuff Trax season on VHS, that I rewatched endlessly, it warms my heart seeing so many old faces again.
It was a pleasure to be a small contribution to what Michael Harper and his team Monster Truck Wars created for the fans, in delivering the best event of 2022, “TNT Unfinished Business.” With the event that fans from around the world most immediately called “better than the last World Finals” it’s clear to see the passion MTW and it’s competitors have for making monster truck fans, enthusiastically happy! Well done guys!
I can't believe any of this. Oh my god. I can't believe this happened. This is beautiful. The old graphics packages in a modern setting. All the old drivers and announcers. I can't believe this.
Please for the love of god come back and put on another show at the NC fairgrounds!!! Just simple side by side monster truck racing is so needed and the show was awesome.
Hearing Scott Douglas commentate is nostalgia to the max. The voice of monster jam at its peak. Dude kept me glued. So happy y’all made him part of this beautiful event.
This is a one-and-done. You are likely not going to see another TNT event. I would love to see a Penda tribute event, bring back like 8 trucks from that era and run it at say Lima. But, from what I'm told by many involved, this is the ultimate One-And-Done, and honestly that's how it should be. Having another would take away how special this event is.
Somebody cutting onions? Man, the memories this brought up...I watched these guys on t.v, owned the toys, and use to watch them every year at Stafford motor speedway in Connecticut. Porter and the carolina crusher is and will always be my truck. Digger not far behind. But I loved all these trucks. Great times, great memories, great trucks/drivers. Thank you to all these trucks and drivers who put on all those shows across the country. This needs to be brought back every year. Great stuff.
Stafford Speedway!!! I LOVED going to those races the first few years! I want to say 89,90, and 91 we went. Maybe 92 also. We would go to the Saturday night race and Grave Digger would always wreck the night before so we either didn't see him or he wasn't 100% The first year my father and I jumped the fenced and went down to the trucks. I got my picture taken with Bigfoot. The years they started letting fans go up to the trucks before the race. God we had the best childhood growing up with this, WWF, Saturday morning cartoons! I give anything to wake up one more Saturday like that!
@@gremlinfinger5964 amen. Yes I remember going to the pits before the races. Those years. 89,90,91,92. Were the best. Digger, if he was running. Would show up with the body missing or half the body missing lmao. And wwf at that time was on point, fox Saturday morning line up was the truth
Man i feel like a 4 year old kid again. The legendary trucks and drivers. This poos all over monsterjam its back to basics sof monster truck racin no flashy jumps just car smashin beer drinkin fun. Honestly TNT needs to make a comeback
The way they filmed this really takes me back to the early 90's, I miss those days. It was straight line racing, no freestyle, some tough truck competition with mud drags or tractor pulls. Now you go to a Monster Jam event all you get is one day racing, one day freestyle, and then other little competitions in the mix like wheel skill, etc which is cool. BUT THIS is where it's at, and the old school guys duke'n it out really made this event worth it. All the kids when I was growing up were all about Grave Digger or Big Foot, me personally I was a Crusher fan and still am, Gary Porter is still my favorite driver.
I absolutely love this all put together like the original Tuff Trax. The music and commentary smacks you across the face with nostalgia. I wish guys like Army and Scott could live forever, cause they are just so passionate and knowledgeable about the sport. I used to laugh at Army saying a truck had "landed goofy" and to hear him say it again here got a big grin out of me. Props to the team for making this event happen!
Michael Harper, this was the best thing in the sport sense Bob ran over the first 2 cars in that field. You and I went to the World Finals together but this was better than that. I wish I'd known you were doing it in time to have been there in person. I went to Releigh in 1988 and 89 and met most of these guys there, so it was an emotional return to the golden days of Monster Trucks for me. Thank you for using some of my pictures from those shows in this video. Now for everyone else, my site has been down for a while due to complication with the server but it should finally be resolved this coming week. I hope.
Jonathon Taylor here. This is totally awesome seein this awesome retro monster truck action and hearin Army Armstrong he's awesome and my all time favorite commentary in tractor pullin and in monster trucks.
The feeling I had when I was there live, with the heroes that became friends, it cannot be described. I have said it before, and I will say it once more. This was the most perfect event I've ever been to. Better than any World Finals, better than any outdoor show...I know this moment will live on. It was absolutely perfect.

Two Names, one superlative, Scott Douglas and Army Armstrong, GOAT!!!!! Heard them do MANY TNT pulls and Monster Truck shows as a side event at the Mid South Fair in the Mid South Coliseum. Sad day when TNT went under. At least we have old videos!!!
God I miss TNT!!!!! Monster Trucks haven't been the same since USHRA bought them out!!!! The only change I'd make to this show is to have Andy Brass and a couple other drivers and trucks return.
This entire show was awesome. Monster Trucks are supposed to look like trucks, not sharks or whatever else. I really hope this event returns. Had a great time with my dad here. Brought back memories of me as a kid going to these events.
I counted the minutes between Sundays waiting to see Army Scott and all these Legends Pioneer this sport!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much all involved with this!!!!!!!!!
That’s awesome that Dennis was able to speak at this event! Wish he could have run at least once down that track but I’m sure Feld Entertainment would have put a stop to that real quick.
Yeah, I agree. But since he did speak as you said, and the tribute truck had a Grave Digger door. I'd say Dennis and the Grave Digger were at least there in spirit if not in person.
Dennis had an event at the dungeon to get ready for. Had nothing to do with Feld, he had the annual Easter egg hunt to get set up. Everyone at the place very busy when we were there shooting that segment.
Definitely nostalgic for sure these were the guys i grew up watching. Way back in the late 80s early 90s Gary Porter, Dennis Anderson, David Morris all came to Maine every year to a place called Hunneywell Valley. There is still videos on RUclips but they closed down years ago. Bigfoot came one year and got stuck in the river, there's videos of that as well.
I watched Tuff Trax every Saturday night back in the day. This was a great watch and a lot of nostalgic tears giving this a watch. Fantastic job by all involved!!!
This was one of the most Awesome events to happen in Monster Truck History, hopefully something that would turn into an annual event at tracks they ran at back in the day, would be Awesome to have the event at Fishersville VA, Augusta Expoland, one of the original tracks
I would have loved to have been there. I had to have emergency back surgery the very weekend this happened or I was going to be paralyzed. I was so happy to see some people that I grew up watching be there and sad that there were some that couldn't be. But it was still cool to see these people back.
Who built the chassis'? The one under the Thunder Chicken was really weird lookin. Was very awesome to see these guys racing again. I have so many episodes of Tuff Trax on VHS stored away. I need to repair my VCR so I can watch them again. I always liked the underdogs, too. Like Johnny K and Dave Wieczorek. Gary Porter was a fav too.
I wasn't around when Tuff Trax was originally on TV but I've been watching episodes on RUclips. With out these legends there wouldn't be a monster truck motorsport! Too bad Bigfoot, USA-1, & Grave Digger weren't on the show (Id image FELD wouldn't let the Grave Digger truck on even if they were asked.) Awesome show over all!
I hope they can do another event like this again maybe it’s not gonna happen but if it is going to happen, they should do one in California. That will be awesome especially in the SoCal.
Oh man, I wish this was a touring event; but I love the whole concept of this. Its a shame that USA-1 or Bigfoot couldnt be in the show. Grave Digger is owned by Feld Entertainment (Mosnter Jam) so you'll never see that truck in other competing shows.
