Thank you for this. I'm new to looping and was initially overwhelmed by the Blooper. You're breakdown and encouragement are extremely helpful. I will definitely watch the rest of this series.
Joel is making some really stellar innovations in the pedal market. I always get a little lost with looping but you have some great advice. Great video as always Dan!
Well stated regarding the initiation process with new creative gear...It is usually best to dig in, learn a little more, dig in, and allow the understanding to deepen in case by case scenarios. I just got mine today. Mind blown, but I am also just shooting in the dark with it for now. Beautiful design, and the clean sound straight into Apollo Twin is brilliant. And then...it all goes quite insane!
@@oceanographic I want to say thank you for your videos. I subscribed to your channel a couple years ago and didn't pay much attention to it, until I realized how interesting your approach to playing and to gear is. I find other guitar channels boringly "normal" with a few exceptions (Adam Levy…). You may never get as many followers as the big youtube players, but your subltle individuality is priceless. Keep posting!
I play 4 hour shows without a break three-five nights a week as a looping artist, so I’m curious to see what you’re talking about when you say that you use Appleton live to loop, and you somewhat struggled through the remaining 40 minutes of your set without having that available. I was the guy that introduced looping to Chicago land in 1998 before anybody knew what it was. The original Boomerang was my first looping pedal, and I used to put duct tape over the name on the front of the pedal and on the top, and in magic marker I would put “Dave in a box“, because musicians would come to my shows and try to figure out how I was recording my guitar live. That being said, I’m really glad so many musicians are using looping pedal’s on stage now. A lot of people don’t sound that great, and some people sound amazing. I look forward to seeing what you do with yours.
You write in the description that you have developed your looping in over 20 years of looping experimentation. Did you begin looping at the age of 7? Thanks for the advice.
Dan-you may be the guy I’m looking for. Have you figured out to create, using drum machine, bass, synth, and guitars-acoustic and electric, and save them like sketches? I’ve reached out to a few folks-haven’t been able to really get an answer-maybe need monitors and amps, cab sim. Just got EQD Swiss things for wet/dry or stereo. Would like to lay a bass line, drum machine, a synth with guitars and get more complicated than bouncing between two chords....actually build a song with verse and chorus. Maybe I’m biting off a bit too much. All I have for a looper is the Flashback 4X. Not satisfying enough.
For this kind of thing is sounds like you might want to look into Ableton Live. It’s possible to do what you are describing with physical gear, but it would be a pretty complex setup!
Heck yeah Dan
Dude...thanks for your work on this pedal. It's amazing. 🙌🏻
I use my Blooper with my hands (not on the floor), using a footswitch for the left pedal.

Thank you! Please feel free to let me know if there's anything I can help clarify!

Your channel is a hidden gem. At Namm did you try the Baranik guitar with lipstick pickups that Scott Harper (KNOBS) help design?
I didn't play that specific one, but got to handle one with gold foils and one with Kleenex box style pickups. I liked both!

Well said, young man. #LightenUpALittleBit #LooperTutorialVideoSolidarity
Very well said. Great philosophies.
Great t-shirt (and absolutely great tutorial)

Sounds super versatile - thanks would love to see an in depth tutorial with it
I bought it used with no manual and it’s hella esoteric rn

Hey Stefan...I've been playing for 26 years, and I pretty much started looping as soon as I got my first pedal, a Boss DD5 delay.
@@oceanographic Cool! You looks so young!

I finally did it. I bought one. So of course I'm re-watching this series. Come on post office...
But how about comparing with equivalent functions looper like the RC-50 (RC-505) or something like this?
