I know this was video was.about play mats, but Sebs kickstater also has prints available, and they're all signed. And if your a collector you can also get a certificate of authenticity. Great for yourself or gifts.
I had that heat sensitive playmat. You missed a flaw with it. I used it for about a month. In that small amount of time, treating it like all my other mats, it started to get deep cuts in the surface that just showed up white. It looked horrible and felt even worse. I’ve never had a playmat do that before. I’m sure you just didn’t use yours enough to get to that point, but I’m glad to see you noticed the curling.
I'm personally a big fan of my ultra pro mat, and my wife adores the soft feel of her her lands mat. I have an inked mat in the mail I'm excited to test out. Thanks again for the informative video professor! Videos like this help me feel confident in my purchases when I'm looking into new products. You're an asset to the community!
I love being able to make my own art for my playmats with Inked. The biggest issue I have is after making the art and getting the mat I play with it once and want another playmat. It is almost too good looking, it is always impressive and that just makes me want to make another one. I have no need for another one! I don't play that much to need even two! It is like a drug and I'm hooked! Save yourself! Though seriously the quality of the print is seriously good and if you do your own art it is exceedingly impressive.
I've had my UltraPro Shadowmoor Island playmat since it launched in the mid to late 2000's. It's over 10 years old and still looks amazing. Only downside is my foil islands I got to match it are finally starting to curl.
I pitched in on the last Kickstarter and I will say the mat I got is great. (got Entomb) I use it when I play legacy to change things up. Very nice and good quality.
Chromiaskin playmats are a great throwback to the 90's when hypercolor shirts were all the rage. Harking back to when you would be playing Magic on the sidewalk outside school waiting for your mom to pick you up.
i am still heartbroken that i missed Seb's last kickstarter, so many of my favourites were in that run. Still i love the look of Chalice of the Void and gladly have contributed to Seb's kickstarter for a playmat of it, good to hear there's no real issues with Ultra Pro mats
Never buy a chromiaskin product. Over time it looses the ability to chabge color and simply stays one color ot the other. The quality isnot there and you prof should investigate and advertise this!
I was lucky enough to never buy one, but it happened to several friends and shop owners i talked to. Sometimes the fridge hack worked, but others it never recover even after a day in a freezer
Druido Bianco I had a chroma skin deckbox and left it by a Window for awhile, and the sunlight bleached it an unchanging greenish brown. was cool for awhile though.
You just had to show off the Coumbajj Witches, didn't you, Professor. So sad I didn't know about the first Kickstarter. LOVE the Coumbajj art. Thank you for bringing Seb's incredible artwork to the attention of the masses and for the quality content.
Tnx, prices on some of these actually seem reasonable enough to try and remind myself around my birthday… great to see more 'lands' show up as for some reason that type of print allures to me most.
I'm really glad I watched this because Seb is my favorite artist! I just bought my first playmat ever, it's got his Aminatou artwork on it. :) I'll definitely check out that Kickstarter!
I was ready to pull the trigger on a Seb Mckinnon playmat until I saw the shipping fees to Australia. $55 CND for a playmat (pricey but acceptable), $65 CND for the shipping of said playmat (T_T).
I bought blue chromiaskin playmat and deck box for my mono blue full foil commander, and It's awesome 🙂 yeah the only problem remains the curving on sides, but It's a nice technology 🙂 Hi from Italy!
Will you re-review sleeves? I really want to see some comparison between side loading perfect fits, regular perfect fits, and perfect fit hard. Along with the new easter sleeves and the new hypermat formula
ive already used top cia hacking tools to steal your fingerprint. thanks for the cards kiddo. Great video! those land mats are pretty cool, and itd be nice to get some of those artist ultra pros.
I'm not a mtg player but I was curious about the lands mats (love art). I've been using one I made through inked gaming for over a year and it still looks like it did when I got it. All thanks to you professor. 👍
with the chromiaskin mats and deck boxes, when it is hot or if you just happen to be drinking something colder than the room you're in, set your cup on the mat/box. the darker colored ring it leaves behind is neat as well!
I have owned 2 chromia skin play mats since its release in germany in april 2018. The gimmick works great but it is easily damaged by a long fingernail. After a year of use i have about 2 or 3 pen tip sized marks on each play mat that are permanently colored white much like a dead pixel on an old laptop. They are created when you try to pick up a card but accidentally scratch the surface with your fingernail which the mat is not resistant to at all. During Summer they stayed in their hot color and needed to be put in the fridge to cool down. They faded back to their hot color in about 20 minutes. Each Summer i can see where i placed my cards last summer as the image kind of burns in. This is not a problem during regular use however. So they are expansive and they age quite quickly. They look cool and can be very entertaining but it comes with its downsides.
I’ve had the ultimate guard ChromiaSkin Playmat for about two months now (I wish this video had come sooner). My biggest issue with this Playmat is how soft and tearable the surface is. It has scratches and and cuts from my nails, corners of matte dragon shield card sleeves, and from the Monster Playmat case. I’ve also followed the cleaning directions multiple times and there are still oil marks from my hands afterwards. I found that the opposite is true in terms of the cooler the room the better the color change. When I first got the Playmat in March (it was still quite cold then) I could never get it to change without keeping my hand or arm on it for more than a minute. This is because the Playmat had a greater temperature difference to make up in order to change color. As it’s been getting warmer the Playmat has less of a temperature difference to make up and changes almost instantly. The only marks made in the Playmat are still just from my forearms and elbows.
I know it's gimmiky but I love the chromaskin! maybe not on a playmat, I think the texture would be bad like the professor says, but I love the chromaskin deckbox he's reviewed previously, we have two of them and theyre so much fun!
I'm very glad I opted not to go for the stitched border of my (first ever) inked gaming playmat when I ordered recently. I'd seen your previous reviews regarding stitched border mats and was hesitant to try it out seeing as Inked's stitching hadn't been reviewed by yourself at the time I made my purchase.
@@ilpomaitre I really hope that you two didn't let a few bucks stop you from getting a mat from his Kickstarter. It's really not that much for the shipping when you're talking about something that will never be available ever again. It's like what, $25 bucks-ish? That's a few hours of work from most jobs. Don't miss the opportunity. I got the 4x mats option and I wish there was option for 5x mats.
@@craig1287 it's more like 45$ ans as a student who is gonna leave for a semester in Japan, it's quite a big investment, still i'll probably hesitating until thé end of the kickstarter I really home i can afford a playmat
@@ilpomaitre Well still, $45 isn't much. If you're a student with no job, then that does suck, but I'd borrow the money from whoever you can. I got one of the thermo mats for a birthday gift and I loved it. It did curl but the ability to change color also stopped..? Maybe it's because of the ridiculous weather swings in my region but it just stopped.
It's won't lay flat because after it goes through the sublimation the operater rolls for shipping and because it's still being heat set it retains the shop. The manufacturer had to let the mats cool a min or two before packing.
As a connisuer of playmats, I can agree with these reviews. I do think the Thermo skin mats are so pretentious, but its awesome looking. The Ink'd gaming mats and ultra pro are my favorite. I have never had one fray though. I have mats that are almost 10 years old...

I'd like to have one of Seb's playmats, but the shipping is going to cost $45 on top of the $35 for a mat, so I don't think it's going to happen because I'm too broke. It's a real shame, though, because I really like them, I just can't afford it.

The people want War of the spark stained glass planeswalker playmats.
YES
I would like a History of Benalia playmat in the form of the one in MTGA when you play the card and it unfurls on the field.
I would rather have Planeswalker spark art Basic lands
Agreed!!
yes, to both the saga playmats and the stained glass playmats
P.s.
Don't purchase Chroma-Skin products if you live in Australia. Everywhere is too hot!

Have been considering finally getting a playmat. Perfect timing for this video!
In my experience, either Ultimate Guard (regular mats) or Inked, are the best.
