I grew up in the church, and I have been hurt by the church. A lot. This past year particularly has been hard with a church split resulting in about nearly 85% leaving, at least 70% in one night. I know God hasn't left me, but I am beginning to lose faith in the church. Everytime I try and voice my questions to seek answers brushed off or lectured, once I was even to to get it together or I'll end up in hell. But God isn't afraid of my questions, he wants my tears, every messy word, every scar and every fear. Even as I cry out how can God be such a good God if his church is so horrible he holds me in his arms and not only lets me, but wants to hear my doubts and questions
Breanna Biddlecombe I definitely understand where you’re coming from, but we have to realize that most of these churches are put together by man’s own selfish will and not by God...We as a people are the church. You are the church, and because you are, church goes wherever you go. You can have church in your living room, bathroom or car; it doesn’t matter, and as long as we’re lifting up God’s name, giving Him praise and thanks, He doesn’t care where we are.
It was a eureka moment for me to finally grasp that our God can take our questions and doubts. Like you, I grew up and was taught not to question God but if we read the Book of Psalms, we can read honest questions aired out to God. It is when we become so honest with God that we experience Him fully. God bless you...
This is an amazing song. And I had someone like that but I guess either it took too much of a toll on him and he gave up or he never truly wwas that man i found faith in. It hurts the worst though when you can't know the truth why.
That's why we give it to God, no human can carry all of their own burdens, much less someone else's too. Sing this to Jesus instead and watch everything fall back into place. He loves you no matter what- whether you're singing praises or crying on the bathroom floor, but he can't physically pick you up off that bathroom floor so, that's up to ourselves and whether we truly want to be okay. You can do it :-)
