And thus the list of things I need in my life grew by one
ahh, everyone's old friend, n + 1...
Sam Jobson just about to say that lol
agreed
Me too
Same
so that's where all the 26" wheels went.
I liked how you called 760mm bars super narrow
Yes and 68.5 is a "real steep head angle"
Lol shows where Mtn biking specs have gone in recent years... 68.5 used to be enduro world and 760 used to be DH
I think he got confused... 760mm bars are still considered pretty wide
chris akrigg built mine up and sold me it after making a video on it. its got 800w FR bars and a 50mm FR stem. works really well so nice to ride anywhere you want to take it. check "is chris playing out" on his channel to see it in action
i was gonna Complain as well but there id already someone who did
Blake, you bring such a good energy to the channel, don't ever change.
Thanks dude, I won't change man.

I jumped a bike on a bike, is my bike a jump bike-bike or a jump-jump bike?
^
AceRidesBikes ?
A bike bike jump
It is a bike jump bike.
Bike jump bike
love u bro u literally helped me know what a jump bike is and u explained it so so well, keep It up
GMBN's video editing has gotten very slick. Production is very professional.
Do more videos about this please, I am interesting to know about this kind of bike discipline! :)
I love this channel y'all post everything I need to know keep up the amazing content
I just got one for free today from my buddy I grew up with. Just gotta fix the brakes and tire needs aligned or It’s bent. Thanks for the run down.
Awesome to see mountain bikes getting dirt jump recognition. I used to jump with my 24 and 26 inch when I was a HS teenager back in like 2002-2004 because my mom couldn't afford a BMX bike as my friends were bmx'ers. I was the only one doing it but it was so fun. So to see a "dirt jump mountain bike" be a thing is really cool 👊🏾👌🏾
Blake, you are such a loveable and awesome. The super star of GMBN. programs mean nothing without you. Thanks for your present.
Love the videos keep them coming also I was wondering if you could make avideo on the best hardtails, and full suspension bikes of 2016
Very nice explanation! Cheers from Brazil!
I had no idea what a dirt jump bike was and after watching this I know exactly!!!! Amazing vid
Just about to build my old 24inch frame back up.gonna be killer
Project.
I ride to have fun and not just to put hot laps on my Strava... I have a hand full of MTB's; Fat Bike, Carbon Full suspension trail bike, even a hard tail 29plus but I think a dirt Jumping MTB would be the next one on my list! Nice Video guys and keep it up!
Would love to see a video on how to best get started on a DJ bike. What type of slopes are the safest, best type of park to get started on and just some pointers on how to get going without breaking the cranium! I just got my DJ bike at lofty age of 41. Trying to figure out how to ride it without dying first. Already had a gnarly crash dropping in incorrectly on a pavement berm at local pump track.
just bought one today for the first time. I wanna tell you guys I'm happy
My dad buy my a bike look like this, i am little bit confused to see a big bmx but after i watched this now i know my bike is a dirt jump, thank you for the video
It took me 4-5 years to get this concept cleared... Great video
Really cool video Blake it's nice to have tips on jump bikes !
Just a question, what was the cassette you had on the Stitched 720 in the Bunny Hopp challenge ? It sounded sooooo great !
Gyros were the best thing for me doing tricks while keeping your bike looking clean
Hey guys at GMBN! Been watching and learning so much! Thanks guys! Been on a DJ bike hunt now. But question with cranks. Between bmx and moutain, are those optional crank choices I have from the 25T and 32T. Or does it depend on the frame I use?
good video but you can run bmx cranks and a smaller chain ring on a dirt jumper depending on what type of bottom bracket your frame has I ride an NS DJ with salt bmx cranks
More dirt jump stuff guys ! You can really see hes passionate about what hes saying.
I'm ridding a 2015 Norco rampage, spank components, mtb cranks, maxis tires and no breaks because I do truckdrivers (360 barspins) and it makes it easier to catch the bars
Awesome bro! Need more of this :):):):)
Love these vids
Thanks for the info
super handy for reference thanks
I'm still rocking 2008 dmr drone reptoid, bomb proof, extremely heavy thou
slick AF!
do some comparison, reviews etc...
For Christmas I got a norco Ryde 26 entry level bike it is so so so sick!!!
Blake can you help! Im 6ft 4” 20st not fat what jump bike would be best man?? I have been jumping an orbea rallom m10 full Enduro I can jump to a point 17ft tt .
Great content n love following you 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I've decided to build a DJ rig but I'm curious as to what's the differences in fork types? I understand most DJ's are generally set up with either an 80mm, 100mm or a 120mm fork but what's the between a DJ specific fork vs a regular MTB fork with the same amount of travel???. Are the stations wider like a longer travel fork but with much less stroke length? are the air chamber internals set up for a stiff setup only? Basically, what makes a DJ specific fork different -if at all- from all other forks?
great video
It does the job. Excellent product.
Really good video !
MTB cranks can run smaller than a 30t chainring if it's direct mount. Hope do chainrings for their Evo cranksets that go down to 26t.
Love the video ! Well explain! I'm pretty new in this , im looking for a dirt jumper , in the same style and price range of the Norco Ryde26. Any recommandation ?
Great videos, learning a lot, can I ask what bike you think is best to learn how to back flip? 39 isn’t to old to learn to backflip right? 😂
Hey rad video!
Blake - Could you do a video on "5 or 10 Dirt Jump Bikes to consider"? I'm thinking about getting one, and don't know where to start, so a video on a few cheap, medium and expensive options would work for all. I want one to learn to jump and to use on decent pump tracks like the one at the 417 Fly Up project, so reference to what bike suits what usage would help too. Cheers. P.S. Saw the video of you and Steve Peat 'manualing' at Ashton Court the other week - funny. Cheers.
Nice Video
DJ bike was my dream bike. After 15 years later i finally got my custom DJ bike. With all CrMo parts (frame fork crank hubs etc) i literally cried when i finished to build that bike.
Man i was so poor when i was teen, from low-ball family. I only had $30 bmx with all iron/steel parts that heavy as hell, freewheel (no cassette), standard HT, heavy one piece crank etc. Everything vintage stuff but at worst quality
Could you do a video on what the best dirt jump bikes are?
They essentially are a bmx frame that has been fitted with a longer set of suspension forks, gears and a different chainring and crank.
Can you do a build video for a dirt jumper. I have an k2 frame I don't use anymore and want to make it into a dirt jumper but I don't know what to buy for forks drivetrain etc. there's so many options out there. I want something that's reasonably priced for good quality.
Oohhhh! So this is one of Sam Pilgrim bikes
Cool video
This bloke is funny! Good video mate
good video pal, nice Scott aswell,iv got an 09 giant STP with a 3 piece crank 25 t sprocket and rear cog is 16t which Ino isn't the right ratio the local bike shops arnt the best they keep saying I can't run this model bike with 3 piece cranks as it is vertical dropouts just wondering if u had any advice I can't seem to find a 9t rear cog that will fit with a dmr single speed?
Why not use a direct mount/cinch crank setup so you can run smaller chainrings (26t for example)?
Most MTB cranks are limited to 30t, but it's easy enough to get a setup with as low as 24 with nw chain ring
Hello...thanks for the video! What is the name of the brake device what let you spin the bars?
Also what will be the recomend lengh for the DJ 26" ?
Regards
Mr.Ro
Why does it need suspension? And what kind of detangler works with hydraulic brakes? Can I get one for skateparks set up with four pegs, two disc brakes, a rigid fork, and a detangler?
Thanks Blake..
The thing is you can run a 22 tooth chainring on mtb cranks cause I’ve got it on my bike I run a 22/11 which is spinny but it works
Can u do a vid like this but have best bikes under 500 or 400 that would be great
Can you throw these around on staircases, walkway jumps, gap jumps and some mild mtb trails?
Basically street trials and mild mtb?
Hey there i bought a Saracen ALX and the back wheel axel is with horizontal sliding drop outs instead of how it is on the bike described on this video :/ sliding drop outs vs normal dropouts would really be an interesting video for me but there is none out there and i have no clue what their purpose is :/
Hey Blake, will you recommend a dirt jump for an auxiliary bike in order to improve jumping? Maybe start jumping on a dirtjump and after do the same on a mtb.?
@Global Mountainbike Network is there a Dirt Jumper, you do recommend for Beginner?
Thanks in advance.
Can you make a video where you show how to change this bike into trial one?
Great video I am looking into getting a dirt jumper and I am 5 foot what tire size do you recommend
Can you do a video like this but of a trails bike? because I want to take it up. I can ballance on my bike really well. my bike is a s-works 29inch wheels and a 14inch frame
I need to turn one of this into a FGFS with a rigid fork ASAP!!!
Nice video
Can you talk about what is the cog and the chain ring teeth ratio on a dirt jumper?
noob question just starting, how long is the ideal handlebar for dirt jump? I was ok with 750mm when I was in my enduro bike.
Awesome video! I'm a beginner in dirt jumping, and I'm improving fast! But there are always other things I want to try along with the dirt jump practice, and some of those things include practicing street trials.
So I've been thinking... It SEEMS to me like a dirt jumper's geometry is similar to a proper trials bike (not the seatless competition ones... I mean like Insipired Bikes, for example). I know the handlebars on a trials bike like that are somewhere between dirt jump and BMX for extra reach when doing tricks like up to rear... etc. BUT apart from that...
Q: Apart from suspension forks and handlebars, how different are dirt jumpers and street trials bikes in areas of the geometry like BB height or wheelbase/reach (or other areas) that might matter to a beginner?
I feel like I can do both jumping and trials practice on a single bike like a dirt jumper with the fork locked out... until I get good enough at trials to invest in an actual trials bike with a fully rigid fork. Can you shed some light on this for me??
You can do trials on a dj, but dont do dj on a trials bike
Dj convert to trials might be possible🤙
Happy Birthday scotty!:D
I’m planning on getting a new bike and I mainly ride jumps and urban riding but I also sometimes go “real mountain biking” so would something like a jump bike suit me I’m on a lowing budget and always bend wheels so I think something stronger like a jump bike would be best. Thoughts?
Bought one. Changed my life and my way of riding. Love my dirt jumper.
maybe could of talked about bb and headsets these also vary a lot depending on frame and components.
Hey GMBN I keep breaking my rear suspension off the frames of my bikes but no matter how many companies I call no one has any answers they just say you have to spend a few thousand. Any set ups for doing exactly what you explained in your video without breaking the bank or my frame?
Blake, I’m building my first DJ Bike. I’m using a Pivot Point frame I’ve got a question about handlebars. I’ve noticed a lot of people are using raised handlebars. What benefits am I getting using a raised bar? What size of rise would you recommend? And how do I find out how narrow I should use for the bar width?
Your giving yourself more room for your knees basically and higher more vertical riding position. I run 75mm
I really want a dirt jumper so bad cuz its so cool, but also in budget. But im deciding to get a proper hardtail or a dirt jump, i definitely like the dj better but i also need to commute about 4km from home. I was planning to get a dj but do you think its even practical for like my comfort and etc?? I was just planning to get atleast a dropper on the dj?? Do recommend?? And can i have some opinions please? Thanks 🙏
how can you put a BMX crank on a mtb frame?
do you need a different bottom bracket?
Very nice bike!
i want to rebuild my old scott voltage yz 15 from the year 2009 into a dirtjumper but im wondering is the frame good and meant for that?
more please
OK so how do I size my new bike? I'm 6'1, How high are the bars compared to the pedals? wheelbase? I don't want the wrong size. Can you make a video on this and at least give us something to go on.
*serious question and concern* I want to get into jumping a little bit but I don't want to go full out I currently have a diamondback overdrive expert 29er but I'd like something smaller and more flippable I've been looking at the Diamondback LINE or sync'r because it fits my price point what are my other options under $1,000
Awesome!
Coupe Somebody help me?
My frontwheel is vibrating wenn im droping it down!
Is this the fault of my suspension? Or is ist something else?
Bike: stiched 360 pro
Please help
I'm thinking about getting into street "freestyle riding" but like very basic e.g wheelies manual's, bunny hops etc would u recommend this or bmx
Can run a extra Cog on it to switch gears.Would it be good mountain bike trail where there's steep hills easy to ride up?
do you think this bike would make a good all rounder? commuting/trails/dirt jumps? nothing hardcore just want to get into it to keep fit and a bit of fun but normal cyclings boring and i dont like normal mountain bikes or full suspension.
Compared to a full hardtrail, how different is a Nose Manual and Nollie with the hard suspension ?
760mm? That's not narrow 🤔
That's what i thought! DJ bars back in the day were all sub 700mm! But high rise.
rise is life
Emil runs 735 lol
It's short in comparison to the bikes he usually rides, which have 780mm-800mm bars
Im riding high 660mm ns district
Is a kid's mountain bike with 24" wheels about the same size as an adult's dirt jumper? All I have at my house is a road bike and a kid's mountain bike (schwinn mesa), so I've been using the kid's bike to learn some basic mountain biking skills starting with the manual... good idea??
Can you move the seat to a 90 degree angle or is it always slanted
dirt jump how to 's. please
And the suspension is good with 120 mm???
Can you have a dirt jump bike with a 9 gear rear casette so you can properly climb on trails or is it better to stick with a single speed casette on both front and back?
hello ! how much air presure put on your suspension
Whats the pros and cons of having a gyro or just cable wrapped around your head tube?
I would like to learn tricks and jumps. But also go to trails occasionally, Should i get a mtb or a dirt jump?
How are dirt jumpers on trails? I want to get one for the jumps but I wanna use it on mountain trails. Thanks .
