    I’m so amazed by the quiet dedication of so many who choose faith over fame. Last night my wife and I went to a party hosted by a very wealthy member of the church and few know just how wealthy they are because of their humility and the way they live so far below their means. I’m so grateful for Christ and his earthly kingdom and the examples of those who have devoted their lives to it. It’s so inspiring.

    This is an awesome video! I also felt the Spirit watching this😊 Fun fact: I also remember one of my missionaries who taught me when I was 16 say that “Either this gospel message is true or this is the biggest hoax there ever was”. I KNEW that what he said was a true statement and that I needed to find out for myself what that answer would be. Here I am 44 yrs later with a strong and vibrant testimony of the restored gospel on the earth 🌍 today. ☺️

    11:36 One word: "integrity." It has always felt like Hollywood is the single most difficult industry for a member of the Church of Jesus Christ to work in without compromising one's values. We see LDS people excelling and even thriving in every other area of arts: music, dance, theater, fine art, animation, illustration, you name it. But in the film and TV industry, I really can't name a single actor or actress who routinely gets first billing starring roles and also professes to be a practicing member of the Church. (There are tons of faithful Latter-day Saints working in the industry behind the camera, yes, but above-the-line talent seems to be far rarer.) You always hear about all these big name stars and Oscar winners who describe themselves as "no longer practicing." I don't have to name names because you already know who they are, and there are surprisingly quite a few celebrities (including BYU grads) who describe themselves as formerly LDS but having had stepped away. (And to be clear, it is, of course, perfectly fine that they made their choices. I am happy for them and they seem super happy and content with their lives too, so go them!) Or you see a few Lds actors and actresses occasionally getting a big break but you can kind of tell that they are struggling to get other good roles afterwards (I assume largely because they choose to turn down a lot of good opportunities), and then eventually they choose to dial things down and be content to remain in the peripheries, so to speak. I also admire the heck out of these people. Jon Heder seems to be a prime example of this. I really respect that man. I remember his Hollywood career was in such an upward trajectory. He hosted SNL. He was a co-lead with Will Farrell. He was quite good. I don't know him personally so I don't know actually what happened, of course, but I could kind of see that he was most likely turning down a lot of roles. Most of the big ticket comedy at the time was very raunchy both in terms of language and sex. Judd Appatow, Parker & Stone, etc. There is no way he wasn't offered a role or at least an opportunity to audition for many of the hit movies of that time. From what I could gather from reports and interviews, at one point, it seems like Jon consciously made the personal decision to kind of step away from most of that (i.e., money and fame) in favor of not compromising his personal values and faith. I can't imagine how hard such a decision must have been, especially for someone who might have thought acting was their true passion and they had sacrificed everything to get into that position. Now, I did not know much about Dana until very recently, but it seems she's had a similar experience (maybe to a greater degree) and had chosen a similar path for herself and her family. She didn't have to make that choice but she did. I really really respect that. She literally could've been the next Linda Hamilton, but she chose something I think is far more valuable and longer lasting than that. Not everyone in the world will see it that way, but we as the members of the Church recognize that there are things that are more precious and lasting than money and fame. Thank you for your great example.

    I had a roommate, a tall, blonde good-looking country boy type, who had an opportunity to be in a movie. But then he got his mission call. So he turned down the movie and went on his mission. The movie? Paint Your Wagon. If you haven't seen it, it features a stuffy Mormon with two wives who come upon a mining camp in the mountains. The Mormon sells his "troublesome" rebellious wife to the miners (she's auctioned off), she becomes the wife of Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood who hijack a wagonful of prostitutes, build a bawdy town, help a Christian boy have his first experience with drinking, cigars and women, etc.

    I've expressed before that I believe you to be an Alma. All I can do is share your message, but I hope to meet you someday. Christ rejected the lds in 1844, but said he would set his hand again a second time to gather israel. He never expressed who that hand would be. Your name is David, my name is Stephen. I believe you speak truth. I saw my Savior and he showed me I was rotten fruit with no seed fallen from the tree, laying on the ground mouldering. I ask him "then where is the hope?" He told me "with me, all things are possible" then he scooped me(a rotten plum) up in his hands and held me to his ear, and then he whispered something to me, then he reached up and placed this beautiful plum back on a tree, but the tree was a large water oak, and I didn't understand for a long time what that meant. But I did ask right then,"why a plum?" And he was gone.
    A month later I was excommunicated from the lds church and moved to a new home I had just purchased. It was early March. In the front yard was an old dead tree split in the middle fork. I got out my new chainsaw to cut it down but my new saw wouldn't run. A few days later half of the old dead tree began to bud. Then leaf out, then came the popcorn popping on the old plum tree. It took 3 tarps to catch all the plums that tree produced that season. They were a little tart, but they weren't wild. And it gave me hope. That is my truth to you. I know my Savior at least to that degree, and I believe you worship the same God.
    I have been searching for a messenger. To say the least, I like your message. I was baptized lds at 8, and again 12 years after the above described vision. But the lds was the large water oak. But the plum tree was Mother, and family.
    Your words ring true. God bless your efforts.

      @@ReachingForTheBrightestStar dear friend, what courage did it take? There were many of them. Your mom was one person. She wasn't knowledgeable about Christianity or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She accepted an impossible gospel (Moroni 10:32) and sadly, you have believed it too.

    • @ReachingForTheBrightestStar
      @ReachingForTheBrightestStar Месяц назад

      @@kd3738 It takes courage to share the gospel with people, especially to people whom one might be tempted to believe will never accept it. For example, Dana was already deeply entrenched into Baptist doctrine and additionally was super focused on her Hollywood dreams. One might deduce: “there is no way she will appreciate the restored gospel message. What if she mocks it? What if she ridicules me? What if it hurts our working relationship or friendship if I bring up the gospel?”
      These are common doubts and fear points any missionary-minded Christian can experience. I know I have in the past. So yes, it took courage and selfless love for her new friends to be willing to share with Dana the things that were in their hearts. To share the “fruit of the tree of life” that it might bless her like it had blessed them, if she so chose to accept the invitation. And she did. No one forced her. She had her agency. They simply shared the word of God, and in accordance to her interest. Read my book, my friend. More details of her story.
