Thanks for keeping the gear simple. Can’t wait to try this. I’m a new console player and I’m loving this game. Had to make 3 characters cause I didn’t know about not being able to swap servers to play with friends. I have like 2 lvl 40s and ended up being a healer on my most recent one and I’m up to lvl 60.
Great build and info. Started using this and I’m still levelling with pvp on (level 40) and it’s crushing most fights, high levels jumping me and I spin to win. Really enjoyable in 3v3 as a healer too. Thank you!
Been using a similar setup with the feetwraps and healing breeze. The extra healing on top of the healing from the life staff and flail healing makes me very surprised how tanky I can seem with light armor. I'm just really happy with how well it does in duels vs most if not all of the meta right now. It almost always wins the 1v1.
Hi ! I really loved playing palladin build when flail got out ! I was glad to find this video ! But, after trying to craft the shield, I noticed that we can't put lifestealing on round shield, at least not with mending vortex. So that's kind of a bummer. I was thinking just playing Odo (using Power stone right now, cheaper if you plan to only use it in this build), or hoping that the leeching ring would be enough. Well, only one way to find out ! Ty for the video !
for a build like this light armor is probably the best choice. heavy is too slow and loses too much damage and healing, medium doesn't have the cheap dodge anymore and also loses some damage and healing. light armor has the best dodge, the most damage, and the most healing, but of course the least armor, but that doesn't really matter if you have good heals.
I've found running full light with enough CON to survive a couple hits (100-200) is all you NEED, though you may want more to be perfectly safe. Running a medium piece or two so long as you can stay in the light range is fine. The main thing you want is light dodge and damage/ healing boost. Going from light to medium is a 10% decrease already. And the extra armor in my experience is not enough to counter the loss of healing. I end up playing much harder in heavier armor and just end up disliking it. If you want to go a full strength build or something else way up close that isn't dodging much or something with more skill based mobility that isn't as concerned with the immediate damage loss, or running smaller scale or closer range PvP. Heavier works. Sustain gives you all of your tank here, and the increased damage tells people where they can shove their opinions.
How do you level this while being flagged PvP what would you take as skills and gear going up the chain first? I love th eleveling and open world pvp but don't wanna be gimped.
you are not gimped, i played this build from start to level 65. killed like 100 people while leveling 90% win rate. and it's straight forward, take the active skills first, then work on the passives. the build is the same from lowbie to max level, you just upgrade the gear and put more points into your attributes as you level up.
@@TristanPope don't run heavy armor, that ruins your damage and your healing. light armor is the way to play this build. medium is possible, but worse than light. just run con or focus gear with decent perks like health, shirking heals, arcane harnessing, refreshing, freedom. whatever you can find. the power of this build comes from the weapon combination, light armor and the right attributes, you don't need any crazy gear to play this
Love the build, i was looking to play something like this. I saw your last stream and you were trying medium weight, any reason behind it? Also this build seems very super late game, what artifacts would you recommend using?
well originally my paladin build from last year was in medium, but they removed the cheap dodge that medium had, so i went with light armor instead. since i released the build today i thought i might try a medium version of it, but i think i'll skip that, it just doesn't feel good enough. also this build is not a late game build, i've been playing it from the very beginning on the fresh start server. you can play this build at any point. i actually don't wanna recommend any artifacts, you can play it just fine without them. and honestly, there is nothing that i feel like really adds something necessary. you can choose whatever you want, featherweight, tumbler shoes, ankh, whatever you like, i just don't think they are needed. just please never use odo or vengeance, that's a great way to ruin the build
@@MADshadowmanfirst person I've seen not recommending Odo on a PvP build. Honestly like the less meta gate take. Going to look into the rest of your guides to diversify my builds from ones that seem to apply excessive mystical Balls to the Face of my enemies. FS, VG, LS, Flail. All the healer/ mage subsets. Because magical tea bagging is surprisingly effective.
@@N0FoxGiven odo is a horrible flail. when it came out, the main effect didn't even work for the weapon itself. now it does, but the uptime of this effect is so unbelievably low, it still makes no sense to me and i am still bitter about them making such a shit artifact for my favorite weapon.
@@MADshadowman Seems like if you use trip, Odo would be great for the build. Why do you think it would ruin it? I am mostly PvE and I am running Fetherweight and Odo atm.
@@TheAsciiadam well, it works with trip now, when it came out it didn't. but your trip only lasts for a second or two and then the passive is unvailable to you until your trip comes back up. the uptime is too short for the mediocre damage increase and the other perks on the weapon are boring and can be on the shield instead, opening up more weapon specific perks for the flail. i just find the artifact grossly underwhelming and boring especially when compared to how good and creative other artifacts are
hey i have a question MR MADshadowman are you gonna revisit yopur heavy armor and medium version of this build because i love your heavy armor version of this build or does those builds still hold up now and wont need any changes?
not sure if i will, you can still play the build from last year to varying degrees of success, but i have moved on from the medium build because they made medium dodge more expensive and it costs the same as a light dodge now, which makes the whole idea of this build obsolete. light armor has more damage and way more healing and gets the better dodge, so i think this version of the build will always be better than medium and heavy. but try all versions and see what fits your playstyle best
Is Splash of Light instant cast? I think I tried using it for a while but kept getting interrupted. So I switched to Beacon. Ever tried running Beacon?
it is not insta cast, it has a very short windup and can be interrupted so the best thing is to dodge roll into the splash of light. i did use beacon in the past, but beacon is a bad heal, splash of light together with purity of light and purifying breeze on your staff can heal you for crazy amounts
@@MADshadowmanbeacon is more common due to its damage output and moderate healing. And healing that follows a target since you're not running VG for ranged regen. It won't max them on its own, but it can keep a team mate alive so long as they aren't playing stupid. And makes opponents zone out so they don't heal you while applying extra damage, and Balls to the Face for the added emotional damage.
This is honestly really well explained. But memes are great and the ranged damage is a bit more important in 1v1 PvP. Once i start mass scale pvp i will definitely throw together a staff for mass PvP for this.
So what class to start as for this build. This is usually the type of build i look for in MMO games. A Paladin class. Im a religious person so i always try to role play as a Paladin 😂. I played the beta for this game but never got it. My friends all play it so i was looking to get it to play with them.
the class doesn't matter really, it only gives you a little headstart in certain skills but that quickly doesn't matter anymore as you level up. i chose mystic because i started on a fresh start server and that allowed me to craft a flail early on, but that shouldn't matter for you right now unless you start on a fresh start server as well. so pick what you like, have fun and god bless.
i think it's too much of the same (or similar) thing. it definitely works, but i find it boring since it doesn't offer anything outside of a semi-tanky melee playstyle
You see. I love flail LS. I've been searching for the pvp build after running full cleric PvE and suspected trip. Thanks for the confirmation. I do disagree with the LS build. If you don't have both balls what kind of build are you running? Hyper aggressive life staff with maximum heals and supply some good old Balls to the Face for maximum emotional damage. The group heal while well explained does not apply damage and kills a lot of your ranged burst and capacity to have mobile healing to the front line. And denies you maximum capacity for Balls to the Face. Please consider applying more Balls to the Face to your opponents and spreading the emotional damage, and healing love, to your enemies and allies. Edit: i can see in another comment where he explained much better why he is not a Mystical Teabagger like those of us running both balls. To those wishing to convert to the Oath of Balls to the Face Paladin. Please consider that increased aggression will get you further in 1v1 close range PvP. What he suggests here is a much better mass PvP or generalist. Apply Balls to the Face responsibly. Also I just realized it's 1 AM and I may be asleep deprived ranting about how all the magical weapons conveniently take the shape of Balls that you can apply to the Face of your enemies. Thank you all for coming to my TedTalk.
@@TastyTatorTots i don't think it needs more 1v1 aggression, the only thing that i wanna add is a runeglass dot gem for more damage over time, outside of that i am very happy with it
