That restoration is really impressive! It looks like it could've been filmed today
No kidding!
Some of the clothes do look contemporary too
@@panathatube Who did it first? Eh
Every single outfit was super cute! I would wear those today!
I wouldn't wear them out of the house. Thank goodness the 60s came and brightened things up with vivid color
Truth be told you can wear them, I'm sure many men and women would secretly admire you as you'd look feminine in them.
@@SUGAR_XYLER so you're color blind then. too bad.
You still can!
@@SUGAR_XYLER So you're a psycho then?
Anyone notice how the women walked? It seemed flowing and smooth. Love the 40s.
Elegantly!
there are trends in catwalk walking styles. These days it's more of a strut than a glide.
@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118 I don't like nowadays catwalk. They just throw their legs against ground as 8f they want to revenge for something.
@@eeaotly :) yeah, some of them really are stomping. Combined with a very severe expression it really is something.
I love this magical music. I just want an entire album of it. 😌
I agree, and it was a great choice for this video! I think they may have used some of the beautiful "Shimmering Pools" music found here: ruclips.net/video/SkTt3-hnPck/видео.html
It's one of my favorite soundtracks used on vintage videos. I wish it were longer, too.
These look so cool! I wish fashion shows were still like this today, they actually look happy to wear the clothes
Class ❤
I love these clothes the shoes too
Notice how graceful these ladies are and how very different they walk then the more modern fashion shows..
Yes awful now stomping and attitude what went wrong
I like the models are smiling and looking people in the eye very personable and unpretentious fashion show with stunning fashions.
Pretty much every one of those outfits has come back into fashion at least once since then, and most wouldn't look out of place today😮
My mother in law was tall and willowy, made all her own clothes and was married in 1947. This is the vibe!! Truly beautiful. 🥂
An era of unrivalled beauty. Although you can see a few avant-garde trends emerging from the post-war mentality, in this clip you can see there is still the utmost respect for timeless attributes of form, elegance, and modesty. This is fashion as it should be: Accessible, affordable, beautiful and personable.
I wouldnt say affordable but def beautiful
Sears and Woolworth type stores would lend affordable copies. Like how KMart and JC Penny does now.
Opps, they gone bankrupt 😮but you get my drift.
@@17thcentury_girl People with less money would often make their own. I had a conversation with my mother about this a few days ago, she said they very rarely bought new clothes. They more often bought fabric instead. And they weren't poor either, they just weren't that rich.
stylish women always think about that, the celebrities make only a fraction of them, the rest, the 'invisible' stylish women invest in personable, beautiful and comfortable outfits that suit them perfectly. too bad the masses are fooled with trends and buy anything.
@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118 In your working job, if you made 0.62 to 1 dollar an hour, you could afford a dress by the end of an 8 hour shift. Some people made 1.5, 3.0 an hour, others 10 or 20 depending on how wealthy you were. An average dress, all of which already resembled the pieces worn here (I wouldn't go to say that all these pieces are above anything normal people wore), would be about $7 -$10 dollars. Getting a burger down the road from here or getting a restaurant reservation and having a fancy meal would range you from $1.0-2.16 for the burger and fries and drink, and $8.50 something for the dinner.
By the way, Making $1 in 1946 is to be making 17.2 dollars with proper inflation raising. So you make 17 an hour, at lowest, 10.51 an hour. Most outfits ranged in the 30 $ range, some in 20, few around -1-2-3 dollars. Some dresses however were $4.00 and looked quite upper class.
With that said, it was a decision to buy an outfit. Wasn't expensive, unless you were looking for a $30 municipal overcoat or a silk pencil skirt. A lot of people purchased cheaper in vacation areas and more expensive in areas like Chicago, San Francisco, areas of Manhattan near the park, Miami etc.
It was just after the war in my country - my parents were in New Zealand which although not damaged by the war , had all sorts of restrictions and rationing until 1950. My parents lived in an old caravan made of wood with some canvas addition for 3 years while my Dad built their new home on his weekends. He had been a soldier during the war. All their photos during this time show them SO smart and well dressed in fashions of the day..although Dad only had one suit and a sport jacket. Mum made all her own dresses apart from her wedding suit. and several winter coats. Thanks for a great film to watch!
stunning, seemed like I was there, thanks for posting
They all look happy and all carry themselves like ladies. Very genteel and elegant. We should bring that back!
I especially enjoyed this one! Also, I would wear all of those outfits today. It’s one of my favourite fashion eras.
As a Man, I'm begging, PLEASE bring this back.
As a woman, I’M begging, who knows how to sew?!?!
Bring back single earner households so that we actually have time and security to be concerned with our bodies and hemlines.
@@tyd8077 Hello…. Hi…. Amanda here…. Uhm…. This may sound a little off putting, and I apologize for the presumption…. But…. Are you my soulmate???!??

@@missvida6251 I will not be quiet 😏 die mad about it 😭
I just wish we can take a time machine bk to this decade!! The clothing....the ppl.... everything was so very different then what it is today..... When my grandparents were alive, I never had the questions that I do today... After their passing many years later that's when I thought of all these questions I wish I could have thought of when they were alive to ask...but, at least we have amazing videos like this that are still around thank God!!
You do not wanna go back to the 1940s.
@@stormthequeeen2751 I can completely understand and respect why u said that in ur comment.... there was WW2, where most of the men/ husbands and even some women were shipped off, but for those women who weren't, they had to do LITERALLY EVERYTHING & take care of EVERYTHING BASICALLY all by themselves, times obviously were MUCH harder financially/food rations etc...The world we live in today is TERRIFYING!! ALL the crimes...the violence....families seperate, neighbors don't look out for each other like they use too or even talk for that matter, and I'm sure i don't have to explain todays clothing/music/TV LOL...so I'd ONLY wanna go bk to that decade:
"JUST for the way of life!!”😊💜
@@stormthequeeen2751 late 40s, yes
@@helenawarsinnak Yeah I totally understand! I also think the fashion style is pretty cute but I’m just not so sure about the life style.
@@stormthequeeen2751 😊
I loved loved loved the striped skirt with the crisscross halter top, and the archery outfit was to die for! Both of these fashions would certainly stand the test of time today. Thank you for posting this wonderful, nostalgic fashion show.
As a fashionista I agee, they were in particular amazing.
They would stand as high fashion today, so of course they would stand the idiocy of modern fashion.
*Archery outfit had my name all over it. (In my youth...)*
I want a few of them !!
Yes I loved the archery outfit the most.
*The year I was born...Love to see the fashions from that era. Stunning. Absolutely*
*stunning. My mother would have looked lovely in all of them*
For those who wish to go back to these times, you can at least find all these types of fashions available or pay a tailor to make you one. I love that striped dress and the white suit.
That White Blazer and Skirt is very Classy
My grandmother was 16 in 1947. And she was gorgeous. She could’ve been up there. I love this!
The elimination of rationing brought the "New Look" with a LOT of cloth for dresses.
Normal looking women who smiled on the runway - how strange the world has become!
I have just watched a modern fashion with about 15 young women who all looked pale and unhappy. How times have changed
@@ritacowled3713 They probably weren't all real women.
Best era for beautiful clothing ever!!
Oh wow this is so beautiful- so much more stylish and comfortable looking and fun than what we see today and actually what real women would wear in REAL LIFE. Would love to see more fashion of the day!
This is just so beautiful.
You can really see how the 80s designers took influence from 40s fashion in a lot of these outfits.
There honestly use to be a time when classic fashions were always sold. I am in my 40s, so I had no clue that many of the pieces I wore were popular decades prior. Instagram has ruined everything.
This is SO COOL! I feel like we are all in a time machine watching the fashion show.
My gosh...White printed dresses from minute 0:28 are perfect for a wedding guest right now in our time! Gorgeous! Timeless clothes!
Amazing doc !!!! Natural people and natural (and gorgeous) models - so diferent from now.
I can see some of those being worn today
The contrast with modern runways! Even though these models are very thin, they look healthy rather than emaciated and drugged out. And they smile and look at the audience instead of keeping a fixed, angry stare at nothing.
model sizes weren't as standardized back then, especially for smaller fashion lines. So you saw a bit more variety. Most of them were slim but not as emaciated as some of the models we've seen since the 90s.
Agreed. Fashion shows back then were much more appealing. Looking forward to more from this amazing ch.
AGREE! What a difference, eh?
Well this was charming! Thank you very much.💗
FABULOUS!!!!!! The majority of the outfits could definitely be worn today. I would definitely wear them🥰
Such beautiful gliding steps by these models; unlike the pigeon-toed stomping done by today’s models.
The first 3 were beautiful. The jumpsuit become a dress gorgeous ❤
You actually wear those outfits compared to runway shows today.
Absolutely gorgeous. Superb video!
I hope to have a 40s and 50s wardrobe one day. I look particularly good in that era of clothing and I always get compliments on it.
I love that they're showcasing different styles but simple items that everyone can Wear. Beautiful restoration!
Indeed it's Glamour Daze. Thankful for sharing and for all your great work! Blessings 🥰❤️
Wow
good grief that film must've been in great shape to begin with cause that looked more than amazing. great work folks thank you very much.
I want to purchase and wear all of it to work/vacation. I'm getting rid of my current wardrobe (in my mind, smile) to make room for these beautiful 40's clothing. Lovely and stylish. I feel more elegant just by watching this fashion show. Thanks for sharing. 💟☮️
I really appreciate this. It helps me to imagine color onto the black and white photos of my mother and grandmother from that time!
Absolutely love that these women are instruments of grace. How graceful they walk, their facial expressions. So demure and gentle. Longing for a return to true beauty in culture.
Wow, how amazingly clear and vivid are the colors on this restoration!!!! I can’t stop watching. Thank you!!!!
What beautiful outfits!!! I'd love them all! And the models are so pretty too. Such class!
The first white suit I remember seeing a photo of my mother in suit like this it was beautiful just like she was ❤ this was wonderful to watch thank you 😃❤❤❤
People enjoying themselves in the postwar era.
So much variety and all with flair and character yet wearable.
Thank you Glamourdaze ! Still a beautiful video...
These restored films look amazingly beautiful ❤❤
I've been binge watching so many and I just subscribed. Beautiful era
This is amazing to see in 4k thank you
The girls were so naturally beautiful and graceful. I loved the light blue outfit with the capris. Looked like a current fashion.
Thank you for bringing these beautiful ladies back to life, your restorations are sublime.
Absolutely fantastic and deserves way more views and likes!
Stunning! Thank you for sharing😊
Magnifique !!! "That's all" c'est bien trop tôt, on en aimerait encore davantage, quel charme !!!! Bravo à vous pour cette trouvaille et la colorisation, beau travail !!!!💖💝💋
wowww...wonderful video!!!tnks for posting it!!!!🎾🩱👙
Everything is so cute!
Your channel is so enjoyable! ❤️👍🏻
Lovely fashion and the models look happy. Clothes are so elegant, as are the models.
This is my idea of enjoyment. Thank you! subscribed
Thanx once again! Always a delight~ This was so darling. I love seeing the headwear & faux flowers! I have a collection of old time'y hats & such; quite a few pieces are similar to the ones in this video😍 👒
What a wonderful video. Everything was just lovely. That blue jumpsuit toward the end was very elegant and fashionable. I loved every second of this. 🤍
It stands out to see a fashion show with clothes that are actually beautiful and wearable... Whenever I see pictures or footage of modern fashion shows I just find the clothes really ugly and clearly unfit to be worn by the everyday woman on the street. I always think "Who would actually wear that?" It seems that fashion industry is so detached from beauty because it is obsessively trying to "break new ground" no matter if the clothes are actually flattering to wear.
These clothes look classy, timeless and more accessible - definitely something I would wear and that I imagine women at the time drew inspiration from.
I agree, but to be fair this was a local fashion show presenting clothes women could buy at a department store. It was fashion for real women. The fashion shows that get publicity now are just freakish displays of "clothes-as-art", and they mostly look ridiculous. No one imagines that those awful clothes will be seen on the street.
I loved watching this, the film is so clear. Brilliant 😊
this restored footage looks so fresh omg
love it, thank you!
noooooo!!! Why thats is too short!!! I love all yours videos! Such emotions anytime! ♥
Impressive work!!!
Beautiful models and clothing. A time in beauty and gracefulness sadly gone. Enjoyed the video immensely.
Thank you. Great restoration. This is so pleasant to watch, not like today where the models look pissed off stomping down the runway.
I like the building. It creates a nice ambience for the show.
Thank you .Magic !
I sure wish we were living in times like this
Wow! These outfits are so so divine. ❤
The two white floral print outfits are so cute!
Excellent restoration !
Fabulous restoration. And, I can actually picture some of those fashions working now.
Stunning clothes & models.
Absolutely stunning fashion..love these videos of time gons by❤
Wonderful
I'm LOVING these restored videos that you've been posting for us! Thanks, and please keep em coming!👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️
Loved all the convertible pieces.
I love every single outfit 🥰
Absolutely love the restoration, the quality looks like a recently remastered 80's movie
Much more beautiful than any modern fashion show.
Hear! hear!
😂 Not hardly...too drab
imo definitely more beautiful than any modern mainstream fashion show.
Everyone is so naturally beautiful, well put together, and lean in figures.
That yellow suit with the red hat just floors me.
Beautiful
love it!
All of those outfits could be worn today. Good job!
Beautiful outfits
lovely.
Now THAT'S a fashion show.
When I watch an old black and white movie, I often wonder what color that dress was. This is great to be able to see what color that "dress" was.
Such beautiful clothes. 😍😍❤❤❤
