    Oh, this is all so gorgeous. I wouldn’t trade out the modern era for all this, but I do wish gowns like these were more common…

    My Mum loved all the “new look” as it was called and although she never afford the couture clothes shown here she still looked fabulous in the photos we have of her from the 1950s. She was a very stylish lady all her life until she passed away aged 93 last year just a few weeks before the Queen. Ladies of that generation always looked immaculate.

    I'm not into fashion at all, but I'm seeing that first frame and immediately thought "that is Dior's salon". And then I read the description and saw it indeed was.

    That was when women traveled with steamer trunks ehich were in effect portable closets. Imagine trying to pack that into a carryon rollie bag.
