- Metal detecting down at the pond there has been a lot of coin finds here recently and lots of them from the early 1900s. Today with my Fisher F75 and small 5 inch coil I was out to find some old coins. Right away I dug up two wheat pennies showing me there is still the potential for silver coins. After detecting for a bit and finding a lot of clad pocket change I swung over a 73 signal. this spot now woods is where I think people used to be able to drive right in and park to head down to the pond. I started digging and out popped a Merry Widows contraceptive case. A small tin container from the 1920's - 1930's. wow ! my first. Swung over it again and the bottom part of the container was in there making it a complete find.

More than swimming going on at that swimming hole😂😂😂 Congratulations on a Not Thursday first. Joyce❤️🙏🇺🇸
Glad you got a happy ending by finding the bottom of the Merry Widow
Hey man!! Love your videos. If I were you, I'd get some water gear and get in the water at the old swimming hole. There has to be some old silver coins and jewelry in there!!
I love it when you hunt by the water.
Coming to completion, Ha! No pun intended
Good recreation back then, good recreation today, a fun time had by all.
LOL, got a chuckle out of that one. Good hunt.
Very cool find, hopefully I'll find a 3 Merry widows tin someday!
Thank you Charlie for the adventure , seeing some beautiful and nice finds especially the 3 Merry Widows !
Some couple has a connection to that site. History tells all😅
I bet finding that was the climax of your hunt! Nice score!
A happy place. Enjoyed 👍

Congratulations Charlie on your white whale. Still on my white whale list too!
Only found one myself. It was different though it didn't have the price but had the three merry widows names. It was on a old baseball field even stranger
Some of those old bottles could be worth some money !
Awesome find😁
A very happy ending to a great day at the swimming hole on Not Thursday.
A contraception relic. Vety weird one to dig up. Love the video😊
The round tin held three Merry Widow condoms. During the early twentieth century, the term “Merry Widow” was commonly used to imply a sexually experienced and independent woman (the term “merry” traditionally had a sexual connotation). This Merry Widow tin names the three “Merry Widows” as "Agnes, Mabel, [and] Beckie." During the 1920s and 1930s, the Merry Widow brand was so popular that the term “Merry Widow” became slang for a condom.
Merry Widow condoms were tested to ensure that they had no tears or holes. Because testing was an expensive process, a tin of three Merry Widow condoms sold for a dollar. In contrast, untested condoms were often sold on the street for pennies.
Good info, thanks
There were really 3 widows Beckie Agnes and Mabel some of the tons have the names on them I be got a couple of them
It's crazy to me that they made them that long ago!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Had them in Roman days!
There is a 100% chance that if you got in the water and fanned out from that giant rock at the water's edge you are going to find a lot of goodies
I would rate a merry widows cannister over a common silver any day.
Even a hundred years ago I believe most guys would not have complained about 33¢.
You may have found the old Lovers Lane. lol
Was the first wheat a 31?
31 s😮
