    CASPER METAL DETECTING here...good vid
    Ive been detecting since 1975 - one thing I tell fellow hunters is if you can afford it
    own two of everything. You usually cant carry 2 of everything in the field/woods or wherever
    but great if you can have a backup in your vehicle near by
    over my long detecting career ive learned the hard way of having something break and being screwed cause i did
    not have a back up - no more - i double up on everything
    Ive been out with a partner and they had machines fail or digging tools break and they were lucky i had an extra for
    them to borrows - continued good luck hunting

    I'm always wondering where you got all the stuff you use on your adventures. I watched your back pack video you did in the past. You are just full of great advice and products and reviews on the O Lights. Love the video. Keep doing it Charlie 😊 Be Safe Out There My Friend😊

    Yes! I've always wondered what you carry in your pack. Expected a few cubans, a gun or bear repellent, a stove for when you wanna have a coffee. All sounds good but like you say, it gets heavy.

    I've been detecting for 20 years plus, and I'll tell you right now all you want is a lesche knife and a pair of fiskars hand shears for roots and trees, shovels chop up finds , are cumbersome and not necessary . I hunt in southern Maine and NH , same conditions as you, I know old habits are hard to break but trust me. I started with a small spade and quickly learned "2 years" that a shovel was the wrong choice.

    Hey! Love your videos!! Ive been metal detecting up in vermont a few years now. Got really big into it this year. I also am a ham! Since 1997! N1YFL wonder if i ever worked you? If you dont mind saying it, whats your call? I spent most of my life in NH and was very active on HF for years! But always hit the local repeaters. Mainly southern ME and and saddleback. Anyhow keep up the great vids!

    Great tutorial. 2 questions. 1 how do you calculate your hydration? Bottled h2o? Or reusable canteen? 2what is the purpose of the wire that runs through the handle of your shovel? Thanks enjoyed the presentation.

    Thank you for sharing this info. I do have a question though, what to you use for insect repellent, and most importantly, what is the best for keeping the ticks away?

    • @mattsmith809
      @mattsmith809 День назад +3

      Imho, the best defense against ticks is treating your clothes and backpack with Permethrin.

      I'm guessing the projectile expeller is the one thing he's not going to mention, but I guarantee he carries. NH is a constitutional carry state after all. Likely because of RUclips policies on such items and because concealed is concealed. The idea is for nobody to know about it until it's absolutely necessary.

      However, I did type in Samson 18 inch serrated on both sides shovel on the Amazon web site and it came up with the ball handle shovel. Scrolled down a little and the closed handle shovel was there. 👍

    dumb question here. my pin pointer interferes with my metal detector. i have a garret ace 400 and a pin pointer called sunpow (model ot-md01) now i have tried changing the frequency of the garret f1 to f4 . Is it the cheap pin pointer?
