From a cat's perspective, the least threatening person is the most approachable. When I went to a shelter to adopt a cat, I sat on the floor and let interested cats come to me. There was one who immediately claimed my lap. She made herself the chosen one. 😸
Pretty sure not responding _immediately_ when my cats start asking for attention is why I ended up removing every single rug from my home. They don't appreciate tardiness in their servant.
If I ignore my cat, he will get increasingly aggressive about seeking my attention. He'll meow...or he'll hop up on my desk...or he'll climb right into my lap or onto my keyboard. My general response to this, if he's already been fed and had his litter box cleaned, is to give him all the attention he wants and then some. Once he's sick of me, I don't see him again for hours. Watch what you wish for, bud.
I ignored my cat when she was wanting attention. I was busy doing something. And so she got really annoyed. She literally leaped at me and grabbed me wrapping her paws around my neck and love biting and licking my neck. I put her back down and she jumped right back up. I held her and just let her go at me. I hugged her and put her back down. She wasn’t having this so she attacked my feet. She was so upset that I was busy and not giving her my undivided attention. She’s the most needy cat ever. She hates it when I’m busy. She gets hours of cuddles so she really isn’t ignored or neglected but she wants attention 24/7.
my kitties know our boundaries with my partner, and they know exactly when they are crossing them too, and they look guilty :D Like when the bigger cat goes to the kitten's bowl and starts eating her leftovers, and then we ask him what he's doing and he goes away from it immediately 😸 it's quite cute actually :DDD

Maia is a lot more reserved.... judgemental if you will. They have a habit of fighting over the same spot before I'm trying to go to sleep. I've told them both to play nice, welcome guests with pure intentions, and go full wild cat on those who do not.
