I’m not saying there going to be good but im also not saying they are going to be bad. I feel they have at least attempted to fix their coordinator problem and have signed some key players. I also don’t want to discredit Jason Kelce, but I really don’t know how much impact a center has on a team(I could be just dumb). The signs show they are improving. With a good draft class they could be powerful. Lets just say they make a playoff appearance(also I think they will win their division because Dallas can’t win it again and the Giants and Redskins look mid).

As an Eagles fan, I'm tired of this narrative that they were an invincible juggernaut who had a baffling collapse: If you look at HOW the Eagles started 10-1 in 2023 it isn't a surprise that they flamed out the way they did. The defense was awful the entire season and it was only a matter of time before it caught up to them.

@@wraynephew6838 The Eagles had by far the worst 3rd down defense in the league. If you actually watch the games, you know our defense struggled to stop anything all year, but mostly ended up being very clutch in game changing scenarios or our offense pulled ahead when it mattered. We simply ran out of luck in regards to our bad playcalling. Nothing really indicates to a loss of the locker room.

As an eagles fan this is pretty accurate. I was happy to see my team winning but something was not right about our team, our defense was horrendous and the stats showed so. Our offense was not good and very predictable (constant QB draws)
The Arizona games sums up our season perfectly.
First:
Turnovers mask our horrible defensive scheme
Second: basic offense and bad play calling (towards the end of the cardinals game)

I feel like the Eagles saw their record mid season and went “well, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” thinking they could keep winning games with no adjustments. Teams figured them out and rather than adjust they just kept doubling down.

Another thing of note about the Eagles not mentioned is Nick Sirianni and the kind of coach he is. Nick is more of a head coach in name only meaning he doesn’t call plays nor makes key decisions come game time. What he does do is be more the middle man between Howie and the team’s ownership and the rest of the Eagles staff. His decision to replace Sean DeSai for Matt Patrica was his way of trying to solve the issues on defense as they where actively collapsing. (Which as we know only made things worse) When Shane Steichen came in as OC in their 21 season it was clear that he was the real force behind the play calling the got the Eagles to the Superbowl. Shane’s leadership of the Colt shows a lot promise as well they just need to get some better players.
Some players actually like this approach to coaching because it presents a clear hierarchy in decisions making and the headcoach isn’t about to over take what the coordinator or the players are reading from the feild. As a fan however this is frustrating to watch because truely good head coaches don’t fold just because they lose their coordinators. Just look and Bill Belichick and Andy Reid who take the opposite approach. They take charge of their teams come game time and use their coordinaters to draft plays beforehand. Assuming they got a star QB reading defenses (which they have with Maholms and have had Brady) then that’s sometimes all you need for a great offense. Nick on the other hand is simply not that kind of coach which means that while the collapse of the Eagles wasn’t really his fault it does mean he wasn’t doing much to be the solution.
Tru Nick could have done a lot more to proactively improve the team instead of letting them fall

From my perspective it is easy to see what happen. When in any game if you rely on the same strategy for to long you become dependent on it. And when your opponents figure a way around it or counter it it will leave you exposed. The worse part is you weaken your other skills and not used to using other strategies. and Lastly you become overconfident and let your guard down.
Exactly, the coaches failed them
I’m an Eagles fan and this is just my opinion. I just never thought they were as good as their 10-1 record indicated. They just got away with a lot of luck bounces and overcame their incompetent coaching staff all thanks to the talent on that team. They just played with so much inconsistency during games and the coaches never made adjustments. Plus I know this might sound crazy, but I don’t think they’d recovered from the loss in the Super Bowl to the Chiefs. They had to replace both coordinators after the SB and didn’t replace them right. Instead they hired 2 unqualified coaches, one was a college coach and the other was a former coaching intern with only 2 years of NFL experience. They also lost 7 starters from the team and didn’t replace them properly. They had a terrible, sloppy preseason when the starters didn’t play a single snap. And it showed on the field during the season. As I mentioned early they got away with a lot of breaks and lucky bounces going their way early in the season. But then the lucky well just dried up. The 49ers game was the game that broke them. That was when they got solved on both sides of the ball. Yes you can say it was just one loss but I was worried after that game. And it began a snowball affect rolling down the hill. Getting larger and larger and they couldn’t stop it. Losing to the Seahawks (against a backup QB nonetheless), then barely beating the Giants ( a game they should’ve lost on Christmas), followed by getting embarrassed by a 3 win Cardinals team when the defense didn’t force a single punt all game. And then losing to the Giants in the last game of the season which probably didn’t matter anyway cause they’d already choked away the division at the time. It was just a bad team all year. They should’ve been 5-12 instead of 11-6. And to me it all started with the loss in the SB against the Chiefs. And I don’t think they recovered from it.
Yea and I’m still upset about the terrible pass interference call in that Super Bowl loss to the chiefs
As an Eagles fan, I was blind to how drastic losing Steichen and Gannon would be. Those guys were far better coordinators than Brian Johnson, Sean Desai, and Matt Patricia. We got to 11-6 because of our talent alone. Poor coaching led to the downfall of this team late in the season. I think the 2024 Eagles are gonna be better now that we have brand new coordinators and CJ Gardner-Johnson back on the team. But yeah I don't remember the last time I watched a convincing Eagles win.

It tells me the players were covering up flaws with the schemes and the defense was not as good as last year, once the Niners exposed how bad the Offense and defense were relying more on how skilled their players were than the actual plays being run pretty much every team could recognize how easy it was to beat them

They pulled a 2021 Cardinals however unlike that team during their skid they weren’t without their best offensive(Hopkins and Murray) and defensive(Watt) players. Also that 2021 Cardinals team came out of nowhere and weren’t a tacky defensive holding call away from winning a Super Bowl.

Poor Head Coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator - starting QB that can’t read or beat a blitz, way too turnover prone, lost AJ brown who bailed him out on a ton of really bad throws and made him look much better than he was - defense had no fundamentals or cohesion, way too many blown coverages and missed tackles - play calling was elementary and once the gimmicks were figured out they never adjusted so teams just sold out on stopping the few things that worked for them. Even when they were winning games this was never a good or well coached football team. Definitely some talent on the roster but they need to be way more disciplined and adjust to the league around them this season - need to focus on fundamentals and building chemistry - Jalen needs to work on reading and responding to blitzes better and not be as reckless with the football especially in the deeper part of the field - a lot of negatives but they could very easily right the ship over off season and be much better this year - need to look in the mirror and work for it first though

Before I watch this I'll tell you what happened. We stop giving the ball the Swift for one for two we had 5 to 6 plays that the rest of the league figured out after the 9ner game and the HC is a know nothing clown. The D got gassed at the end.
