Scrim - produces a good majority of their beats unless stated otherwise, he’s a former DJ, used to go by ‘DJ $crim’ it’s funny cuz he had no intention of rapping at all until his cousin Ruby convinced him. Scrim is a recovering addict, dude was heavy off them drugs. was a daily heroin user eventually switched to suboxone after they gained buzz around their
‘$$$’ album. but he doesn’t discriminate, stimulants, amphetamines, benzos, opiates/opoids, methamphetamines, psychedelics, dissociatives, deliriants, you name it!! he more than likely tried it. been a drug runner since 13 if i remember, got stabbed n what not, used to hit licks to get his fix, and in my opinion, scrim is definitely about that life. this guy grew up with a drug addicted family, gang affiliation, n got caught in the pre-genetic disposition cycle. i don’t know him personally of course, but he definitely from the mud. as of now, i can’t fully remember, he’s around 4-5 years sober (may be wrong, typing from my memory) during his drug use he had this crazy ass, deep, guttural voice, that can’t be mistaken, lately he switches it up to a more higher pitch kind of flow.
Ruby Da Cherry - Former punk band member, can play drums, bass, piano, guitar, and probably other instruments i just don’t know. quit the whole punk band thing after realizing he was getting no where. like scrim, he never intended to start rapping until he found out about the underground scene, which includes punk & metal elements like mosh pitting, etc. meshed with rap. they made a suicide pact, meaning that if they didn’t gain any success till 30yrs old. they’ll off themselves. Ruby was also heavy on them drugs, mainly opiates, a lot of fucken weed, hella cigarettes, and maybe coke? dude was deep in drugs for sure but in a different lane from scrim, cuz honestly, their drug use isn’t a competition thing to compare to. he loved loved oxys, especially snorting them, you’ll hear a lot of references them in his verses. his flow is fluid af, his early verses are reminiscent of bone thugs but in his own creative way, at first you probably wont even understand him, but have lyrics on the side and you’ll notice it isn’t mumble nonsense, the way he pronounces his words and changes cadences so different is what defines Ruby as a rapper, should also mention his bars n rhyme schemes, really good! and the way he effortlessly flows on any beat is beyond me.
