Just received my new cutterhead for my Grizzly, and these instructions are exactly what I needed. Great tip with the blue tape. I think I got tiny nicks just from removing the plastic! 😂
I upgraded my surface planer and now am in the process of upgrading my (identical) Powermatic jointer with a Shelix. It's amazing how much better these work. Zero tearout on Cherry, and just a little 220 and you're ready for finish. Better, faster, but not cheap. You'll never regret spending the money, though.
That was really helpful! Thanks! Would it make sense to take a straight edge to check that the pulleys are coplanar before tightening the set screws for the top pulley?
Thanks for the video! Those were great instructions. I am considering getting one myself and am really curious about the cut quality. Would you say the cut is comparable to straight knives? Is there noticeable scalloping? Thank you.
All in all great video.. many new woodworkers will be watching no doubt. Your jointing methods, without push blocks on such a small piece of wood is a seriously dangerous scenario to display. Just my 2 cents.
If you saw my fingers right now after not using push sticks on a piece of stock, I think you’d start being more careful. 12 stitches in two fingertips. I’m incredibly lucky and won the dumbass of the day award… don’t be the next winner, believe me, it’s not worth it. Use push sticks and don’t get too confident.

I bought the same cutter head and followed your instructions. Peace of cake. What a difference that cutter make. Thanks for the info
That’s awesome! Glad the info and video helped you!
Great video. Getting ready to upgrade my G1182, and this helps a lot.
Thank you - I have the same jointer. You have made it easy for me!
I am glad it helped!

Money well spent for sure!

You could if you want to. I’ve never had an issue with them being out of alignment.
Good job
Thank you very much!

It’s 100% a better and cleaner cut than straight knives. Worth every penny. I do not get scalloping at all.
