It's just to show if a case saves a phone from 50 feet it will save the phone in its everyday use. What's there not to get?
Well working in the construction and tan hung field I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been up a ladder, scaffold, or tractor lift and dropped my phone, either out of my hands or it slid after I had to set it down. So very helpful to know that these cases hold up to 50ft though I’m normally only like 20 ft up or so.

I’ve had the iPhone 4,5,6,7,8,x and xs, always used the OtterBox Defender with every phone. I’m very hard on my phones, but have never had one break. I usually get about a year out of my case. It might be a thick bulky case but it keeps my thousand dollar phone safe.

@@zomitkv5782 I swear by UAG cases. I used one for 4 years on my Galaxy S7, and that one survived so many drops, it's not even funny. I had to replace the phone last week because the charger port was worn out badly. Aesthetically, the S7 still looks new, save for a few (3) small scratches.
Anyway, I got my new Galaxy S10 this week and needless to say, I went looking for the latest offering by UAG and got a great deal on it too.
30 bucks for the crimson red Monarch. Score!

This guy at my school knocked my phone out of my hand so hard without a screen protector and It survived. Dalton Lindemann lmao says who? Case absorbs shock, shock causes internal damage. Internal only is better than internal and external, but it isn’t a complete win. This is an extreme test, but that doesn’t mean the bar should be set lower. Only a couple cases are total wins here, and that’s okay.
Dalton Lindemann that makes no sense, if the lcd is ruined then what’s the point of it looking nice on the outside. A case is supposed to protect the whole phone not just the cosmetic condition.
@Spookish no, that’s not entirely true. Internal damage would also prevent usability and cost the same or more to fix, and if it’s internal damage, then it may not even be fixable. Take it from someone who had his iPhone X badly damaged. I dropped it down concrete stairs :(. The front and the back was shattered so badly the glass was coming off, and the rear camera was broken too. I gave it for repair, and they replaced the front screen, glass back, and the rear camera, which would’ve costed like $600 or more (fortunately I still had insurance). After the repair, the brand new screen had the same green lines you saw in the vid all over it, so they replaced it again, same issue. Turns out there was internal damage, so they had to give me a new iPhone (insurance). So yeah. I’d rather have something easily replaceable damaged than a critical, even more expensive internal part like the motherboard.
@D L but if the inside is damaged, then the phone will have those green lines over its display or may not even work, so what you are saying doesn’t totally make sense.
My personal favorite is The Black OtterBox Defender series. It’s lasting good so far so I really love mine
I find this fascinating. In my experiences with several different phone cases and phones, I’ve only ever broken 2 when I dropped them and one was in an otterbox the other in a life proof. It was only from a pocket height and I was shocked. But it’s kinda interesting to see them survive from pretty high up.

Interesting! Aside from the flimsy cases being predictable failures, I guess this proves beyond a doubt that ability to survive is very much dependent on how the phone happens to land.

PITAKA I like my 2 pitaka cases but the durability is a problem for me. I would not expect the case to survive a 50 foot drop and that’s ok with me but when I go outdoors I worry about dropping my phone in the pitaka case just from a 2 or 3 feet drop. I would like to see this case dropped from more reasonable heights say 3 or 4 feet. The one main issue I have with pitaka cases is there is no lip to protect the screen when playing your phone face down on a table. I know pitaka is constantly pushing strong aramid fibres but I would like to see some more drop tests. Let’s put this aramid fibre to the test...

If you spin them slightly when dropping you can get them to more consistently hit the edge, face or back if you like.
