Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

I don’t know what to pin today so I will just drop 💙 💙 💙 💙 #iykyk
My customers are taking me down this path. They want herbal and organic products that they can’t get from commercial products. I’m using a plant based preservative when I need it. I’m not a PhD so I research the plant so I understand what they are looking for and start experimenting. I’m getting great results so far. I buy the dried plants and start from scratch so I know what is in it.
Been watching your videos all day just love them. ❤ very informative . Love how you break them down and explain.
I am really enjoying this deep dive into essential oils and extracts. I’ve used powders for many years because I travel quite a bit and there’s no fear of breakage and they’re easier to pack. I wish I had known where to look for what to reconstitute them with. I’ve always used glycerin because of my lack of knowledge. This old girl is learning so many new tricks because of your deep dives.
Ooooh… now I have more uses for my Di propylene glycol! 😊
Ooh making your own extracts! Yay!
I’ve been studying up on all this I’m trying to formulate some more stuff 😂😂😂😂😂
It can be a TON of info to process!
Yes I know I still want to do a natural detangler too
Unrelated question, but i would like to make a beard wash for myself but i want it liquid, what would i have to do differently to your recipes to achieve that?
Hmm, well that’s a big question with no easy answers. Generally though if you want to use a solid soap recipe for a liquid soap, use a low superfat (2-5%), obviously plug potassium hydroxide in to get your measurements for your oils, and increase the water to 3-4x total lye. I tend to hot process the oils and potassium hydroxide and half the liquid, then add the rest of the liquid after that has hit gel. So essentially you’re creating a soap paste that you immediately convert into a liquid soap with that method.
@@MrsSoapAndClay thank you for replying. I'm still a bit confuse and if you would be willing, could we move this to instagram dms and discuss it a bit more in depth? I live in romania and here products are medium to low quality and i want to make something good for myself
How to be a member at discord too?
Have to do the join thing.😊
Hey! Yup, the “join” button in the video descriptions will get you there.
@@MsAubrey thanks!
@@MrsSoapAndClay thanks!
You lost me on all of this
Oh no! Sometimes I get too in the weeds with the sciencey stuff, but try to recap the overall points in wrap up at the end of each video, so focus on that if you need to.
