Your darker picture from the 510 makes the 410 look better but I fear that your test may be flawed, have you adjusted the dynamic range between the two and 3dnr? This feature easily makes a huge difference to picture quality in low light for these reolink cams.
@@QuikTechSolutions Okay thanks for clarifying this, so anybody looking at this shouldn't be taking the 510 darker image as a given, it's probably just down to dynamic contrast/range setting being different.
The RLC-510A has better range and doesn't blow out the highlight detail compared to the older RLC-410-5MP. Also, having much better sound pickup, newer firmware, which also is auto-updatable, as well as the 256GB onboard card capacity, makes this clearly a better camera overall. I got on as a service replacement and I'm going with that camera going forward. I have eight of the others in use have done extensive in-depth testing between them and the new one. Just upgraded to the new Dual Camera with Flood Lights on my garage and that one is amazing. Also just replaced my Ring Doorbell Pro with the Reolink PoE Doorbell and and not looking back. All cameras have cards as well as FTP all video to a Mac Pro server, so nothing is missed and nothing is in the cloud, which usually comes with a cost - Just cancelled my Basic $40/year Ring service and told them to take a hike due to the weird privacy stuff they've been doing lately. I prefer to keep all local.
@@MatthewShepherd-z6u I'm looking just now for a camera and I really need this camera to perform well during night time. This video is the only video comparison I've found on internet between thoose two and it makes me confused because here I see much more details on 410 during night.
I think the 410 looks better than the 510a , day and night ? , I'm using frigate so the object detection is on the NVR . So I may get a couple of 410s to go with my 511 which is like the 510a with a 4 x zoom lens.
Very well presented review. If there is no vehicle pass to the direction of the camera, backyard, I don’t see the reason for choosing the 510. Your opinion is appreciated. Greetings from mount Olympus, Greece.
Hello Konstantinos! The 510 not only has vehicle detection but smart person detection as well. You would not get the smart person detection with the 410. In my opinion it is worth the additional cost to get the smart person detection. However, if you feel it is not necessary, then the 410 will perform just fine. You might also want to take a look at my most recent video on the Amcrest Security camera. The version I review is an 8MP camera, double the price of the 510. However, Amcrest does make a 4MP version comparable in price to the 410 & 510. Have a great day and thanks for watching from Greece!
There's a huge part missing, which are the settings for each camera. For instance, a new feature is the 510a has capability of checking and auto-updating its firmware, something that the earlier model does not do and has been pain point in finding and installing. This one thing is pretty huge for me, as I have multiple cameras installed. Still looking through the other settings, but I'm sure there are a few more differences. You review needs to dig a little deeper on these important differences. I'm really surprised you didn't run through and present them as they can show the true functionality of what each can do (or not do).
I appreciate you watching and commenting. Your points are noted! However, the purpose of this video wasn’t to go over what settings to choose. That should be determined by user and environment in my opinion. This review was to help folks who are teeter tottering between the two cams in making an informed decision. Have a great day.
@@QuikTechSolutions Not expecting you to explain what settings to choose. It was missed as a side-by-side comparison of the two cameras. The differences should have been covered in an in-depth comparison. The specs that were presented could have been referenced easily from the Reolink Site. What's not is what I expected to see in this comparison. I think you also need to be thorough on the specific model. My assumption is you're comparing the RLS-410-5MP, which is an upgraded high-resolution model of the original RLC-410 that is 4MP. This confused one viewer.
I have several REOLINK IP models (inc. solar/batt and POE)....and NONE have ever autoupdated or forced manual update, even when I know there is an update available. I always have to go submit a ticket for updates/links. This feature missing is not of concern.
Hi , thanks for tuning in and commenting. I don't believe this is an option. But reach out to Reolink support to confirm. They are pretty good about responding to customer inquiries. Please subscribe, share, and give the video a like. Have a great day!
No, they are different cameras with different firmware. I was sent the RLC-510A as a service replacement for a RLC-410-5MP, and just the new feature of auto-updating firmware is nice, especially of you have a lot of cameras. That alone is worth the upgrade. Also the audio is clearly better on the newer model.
both the RLC410 and the E1 Pro suffer the same audio quality. Why can't reolink get their act together and give us both video quality and audio?.. why is it always one or the other?
But does the Car and human detection really work? the 410 is shit when i comes to the push notifications! every damn thing sets it of! so if the 510 dosent do that i would choose that! ?
Hello Kim, so they basically have the same specs with the exception of person & vehicle detection. Everything worked fine in my testing environment. You can control the alerts in the app. Have a great day!
Thanks for commenting. I tend to agree as well. Thought the 410 overall had better picture quality. But then again, what is better differs from person to person. Anyway, have a great day. Thanks for tuning in. Please subscribe, share the video with your family and friends, and give the video a like as well.
The newer camera is actually better and much improved on the audio as well. Auto-firmware update, better black detail capture and long with the highlights not being blown out make the RLC-510A the superior camera and a great upgrade.
Hi thanks for watching. Sorry you are getting confused, but the purpose of this video isn’t to say which camera is better. It’s simply to show a comparison of features. The choice of which one is best depends on the individual’s needs. Have a great day!
There’s an old saying, if one doesn’t have anything good to say, don’t say it. Move on if you’re not happy with the video, no one is forcing you to watch it. But to be critical of someone who is making free content in an effort to share with others is just downright wrong and obnoxious. You should try being a creator and putting yourself out there to the world to see what it’s all about. Maybe you wouldn’t be so quick to criticize. Have a great day.

Here in Australia the 410 is sold as a 4MP camera.
The original 410 is a 4MP model. This is the RLC-410-5MP, I'm assuming he is using in his comparison.

Initial looks can be deceiving. When brightened up, more detail is captured on the RLC-510A versus the highlights being blown out on the RLD-410-5MP.
