I'm sorry I do NOT agree. I Love Sauvage Elixir!! However, I also love lavender and old school fragrances though. I think it's fantastic and I got so many compliments from it.

Nice vid. While I am absolutely in love with Sauvage Elixir, this just underscores how personal and individual fragrances are. I wear scents for me; I don’t intend to offend others, but love some frags that have never gotten compliments (Memoir Man from Amouage is a prime example). I do think there’s some “message” in fragrances, however. The pro-Sauvage original guys tend to be about 20y younger than Dave looks, but again - to each their own!
Great honest review and I enjoyed it and I'm a big fan of this fragrance it's a 10 out of 10 in my opinion and have a blessed day
This stuff is the longest lasting fragrance I have ever owned, I sprayed 2 sprays from a little sample bottle on my shirt at my high school homecoming in early fall, it still smelled in june when it was time for senior ball. Granted the shirt was never washed but still incredible. Really easy to overdo it and get a headache though so I’d recommend 1-1.5 sprays
i absolutely love the drydown. your bubble gum vetiver observation was spot on. glad you told your opinion and you were very good with the description. it sounds very biased and dont understand your preference away from lavender
Blind bought Elixir a few weeks ago (smelt it briefly in a store) - loved the opening notes and it blew me away, but somehow on my skin and after the drydown, I actually felt exactly the same as what you just described. Its way too loud and perhaps not in a good way, so it actually greatly disappointed me. Overly sweet and spicy for my liking, almost a little cloying - I guess I just wasn't expecting something so sweet

I actually got a lot of compliments from using it. I used the sample and fell in love with it. Though the sent doesn’t last very long I mean you can smell on your body but the person next to you won’t smell it after an hour.

I love this fragrance and never tire of it which is important because of its amazing longevity. If you like spice and pepper, which I do, this is the one.
Elixir is my favorite out of my collection and I've smelled a lot of fragrances my guy owns a fragrance shop which he have almost everything I can possibly smell and Elixir is so far the most elegant I've ever smelled
I agree Dave, I had a sample of elixir and couldn't get on with it, that liquorice note doesn't do it for me
This is the only Sauvage for me. Great video as always Daver... Lavender being my favorite note, I find this easy to like. I am not a fan of the other Sauvages or Oud for Greatness, but I do enjoy this and Haltane from PDM. But I'm buying your PAA next 🎉
With Sauvage Elixer, I get moderate strength and projection. Longevity is about 2 hours. I get the amber note. The grapefruit smells more like lemon to me. Then there is a dry, spicy component. I assume it a combination of cardamom, patchouli, sandalwood, and lavender. However, I get none of the outstanding qualities of these dry, spicy notes.
I went with Alexandria Fragrances Ete Savauge Elixir for less than a $100 for a 100ml. Two sprays is more than enough
I think it's great IN MODERATION. Tellingly, it is rarely left out on shop floors for people to spray willy nilly, the first time I sampled it I had a shop assistant spray half squirt on my arm and it was a love. I took it away with me and I quickly got tired of it - and made the mistake one time of over-spraying. Big mistake! Now I only wear it occasionally, but enjoy it very much when I do. I restrict myself to one, maximum two sprays. A single spray on the chest in the morning can suit most occasions throughout the year, at least in temperate climates.
For me it is liqurice fragnance remind me of liqurice and spices in opening and i love it
This reminded me strongly of Pure Tonka in the opening. Must be that Licorice/Lavender/Cinnamon combo.
What do you plan to do with your bottle?
I tried it at a store. My goodness it was strong. Nuclear. But I also did not get the appeal of the scent. Thought maybe it was just me

This fragrance is better suited for fall, winter, and spring IMO.
It is an amazing fragrance, and one of my favourites that I will always keep in my collection.
I don’t think I’d wear it on a date. I think it’s too strong, even with only two sprays. LNDL EDT would be better for that.

Sauvage Elixir has an amazing dry down. I smell it on my jacket collar days later and it smells great.

Yeah a lot of “fragrance snobs” in the community just straight out give this fragrance a bad rep because it’s under the sauvage name but this is a good fragrance..they could’ve called this lavender absolu or something like that but they were obviously riding on the back of the sauvage name for sales

Just brought from boots and it's so so weak compared to the 2022 batch iv got. Done 1 spray on each arm and new one was completely gone after 5 hours. Can't believe they've re formulated it and not made it public. My old one project's like crazy and lasts all day

Hey, Mr. Daver!!!! I tried Sauvage Elixir several months ago...and this fragrance is just ehhh to me. Another yellow light fragrance to me that doesn't compete well with other designer fragrances. Don't get it twisted; it is not complete garbage, however, but I believe that there are far better lavender fragrances in the market, especially with fragrances like Bogart Pour Homme and Black Gold by Mancera. It is true Exilir does not smell like the Savauge Dior cologne or EDP. It is loud and almost reminds of something you would wear for a party but not for work. The name should be different. Unlike, it but it took me a while to like. I like once it past a hour or so. It lasts for the whole night and morning for me. So it's loud!
Sauvage here on the box,they did something that has never been done before,they interfered with how you approach your perfume box,and for that,we must hail those who brainstormed the idea of designing the unusual box that makes owners to approach box of their perfume,differently from other boxes of perfumes they have.power to the classic box👍

i don’t like lavender either. which is why liking the le male line is hard for me since it’s so dominant
to each their own, but I personally really dislike this scent. hard to wear, but also just not a pleasant smell. we were at top golf the other day and a dude by us had it on-summer heat had it gassing the top floor, it was not good haha.
I like the box lol look very premium. Very good fragrance.
Its best bang for buck by jove its potent. 2 sprays is more than enough at least on my skin.

I don’t think it smells like Sauvage, but I actually appreciate them using the Sauvage branding on this to traffic in more interest from the masses. This is basically an absolute beast mode, blue-ish version of Guerlain Heritage. I ALWAYS get a compliment wearing Sauvage Elixir, and the fragrance is also a great deal because all you need is one or two sprays every 24 hours and you’re good.
So yeah, take Guerlain Heritage EDT, sprinkle it with Jo Malone Cypress & Grapevine, and then somehow make the mixture have beast mode projection and longevity. I think it’s a 10/10
I live in a tropical country where it is usually warm & humid. I think 4-5 sprays of this Elixir just does not cut it for me considering its ridiculous price point. The scent is amazing but the projection takes only about 2 hours, after which I can hardly smell it. I had to have a sniff on my skin or shirt just to smell its presence again. The longevity on clothes is about 5-6 hours max though. That’s my first impression on my initial full wearing & I’m kinda disappointed… Does my living in a warm humid environment have anything to do with this? Or am I having “nose blindness”?… I bought the 100ml size & really paid quite a hefty price.
With all due respect I suspect your bottle is either from a defective batch or fake, or you are going noseblind to it. I usually use about 4-6 sprays in the summer of typical designer frags that have moderate projection and performance. Generally I’m not afraid to be “loud” when it comes to fragrances but i hardly ever experience olfactory fatigue.. This stuff is nuclear compared to that. If it’s 70f outside or above I’m afraid to spray this more than twice because it is quite honestly BY FAR the strongest designer fragrance on the market that I have tried and even more so in the heat..I’ve sprayed it on my hand and have been able to smell it 12 hours later after a shower. I bought mine at a retailer so I know it’s authentic. I highly doubt you got a legit bottle or there is something in it that’s causing you to go noseblind to it.

I will say, out of the 3 high quality fragrances I have, the Elixir is the best one. It outperforms the other two I have. I’m 23 so even tho it might smell more mature, that’s what I like. I like Fragrances that smell mature and masculine. Not so much on the Youthful side. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I just prefer mature scents.

Well honestly for the price you are paying for this product.its not that great.I tried it on me once in a store and the scent didnt last as long as my clone version which I payed a fraction of the price for.its not too bad though,but it's not 150 dollars great neither in my opinion..
Reminds me a little of Angel for Men which also lasts 12-14 hrs. I personally really like Sauvage Elixer…less/fewer sprays is better than putting on too much. It’s definitely for an older crowd 30yrs+ as it has a very mature refined scent.
I would NOT agree with this reviewers opinion that Elixir smells terrible after the dry-down….quite the opposite. Elixir takes out all of the opening notes from the parfume version and goes straight to what the parfume smells like after dry-down.
I personally researched all 4 versions of Savage and even interviewed one of the Dior expert sales reps regarding all 4 versions. Again, less is best to start out with with where Elixir is concerned. One can always add another spray if necessary or even layer it with another scent if the user desires.
As a stand alone fragrance…make no mistake, Elixir is the BEST that the Sauvage line has to offer for men.
For me original Sauvage is like a nuclear trainwreck. And i really like elixir. Spices heaven. Modern with retro vibe at it's best

We definitely need MORE rolled up magazines. 🤣 But yeah, that base...that's that woody amber. Can't stand it myself. Gotta be careful when seeing "amber" as a base note because it's almost always a rubbing alcohol-smelling woody amber these days. As molecules, they're technically musks. But brands just try to brunt the edge with spices, resins and sweetness. Niche brands too!
Elixir gave me a headache when I first smelled. Damn near wanted to 🤮. I love the original sauvage EDP tho
It’s just ok…. Hate savage though. Elixir is ok for cold day or night time. Not worth the $$ though. If I had to do it again, I’d pass.
