    I'm finally going through my propagation box! I felt motivated to go through it and take care of all the props inside after a year or so of being in there. I have a plant to acclimate them and hopefully, they will all do okay!

    This video is appreciate 😊 I currently have some pothos wet sticks, alocasia corms, and a spider plant root 🌿 in moss propagating right now. 🎉 A few rotted, but the others seem to be doing okay still. No real growth yet, but their still alive and green 💚 so we'll see what happens. I just started this prop box like two or three weeks ago. ❤
    Your videos are always so informative and helpful so I love to watch them and learn as much as I can! Thank you for being you, and bringing so much joy and knowledge into the plant community 😄🌵💦👍 Yes, I'm watching a few of your old videos, but I'll try not to comment on all of them... I just can't help it. Lol 😅

    My favorite is during the time-lapse of you scrubbing the bin and it falling in the sink. You go "ahhh" and it's super relatable. Made me laugh.

    Love this! Wish I would have watched it earlier as I didn't acclimate my scindapsus silver hero slow enough and lost a lot of leaves... now I'm back to wet sticks. Also, my three kings syngonium was VERY mad at me when I removed it from humidity too fast. Your idea of lid off and on over a period of time was very helpful. Thanks Melissa! Would love a wet stick video! More info on what to wait for etc before potting.

    Your efforts to bring a major task up to date is inspiring me to do the same. I have about 8 plants that haven’t been repotted in a few years and they desperately need it. This will be done by Christmas, I promise. If plants could revolt I’d be in trouble. Again, thanks for the inspiration and major kudos to your organization skills and your plantology.

    This was fun to watch. I couldn’t believe how long you left them in there and how hood they all looked. You’ll have to acclimate them soon cause now that they’re in the cups they are much taller.

    Wondering what the fluval does for nutrients? I use charcoal to help with distributing nutrients in my mix (from what I heard)

    Love this video… Did you keep the prop box in bright light the whole time?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Год назад +1

      In the beginning I did and it should definitely get good light when you're starting them and trying to get them to root but since this was a closed system for awhile and the cuttings had a ton of roots it was fine to lower the light :)

    This was very useful video for me. Thank you :) I just want to ask: how long does this process (opening prop box every day) take? 2 weeks? Month? Longer? I understand that you prolong time when container is open but can you be more specific please? 1. day = 1 hour, 2. day = 2 hours but what will you do on day 12 and after? I have never done this and I need foolproof instructions :D Thanks.

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Год назад +1

      Hi there - I don't follow anything specific, I just slowly increase the time and then just watch and see how they respond. I'll try to take care and pot them up sooner than later and not wait forever like here 🙈

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Год назад +1

      Probably! I haven’t tried though the perlite might make a mess once it dries. It would work great with the clear backing for sure!

  • @fancygirl822

    Will you need to water them?I didn't see any holes in bottom of the cups.

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Год назад +1

      I’ll probably just take my little water bottle and top water them! Bottom watering would be easier but I didn’t make holes or anything in them ☺️

    • @emmap3283
      @emmap3283 Год назад +1

      i almost never do holes in the bottom of moss prop cups, esp from a prop box. it takes a lot longer for them to dry out which is great for fragile moss roots, and ny extra water at the bottom(shouldnt be much if youre mindful) will get wicked up to the top by the moss

    I've been finding mold on my sphagnum moss in my little cup with some propagated cuttings :( is this normal? It's an open little planter, and moss has been kept moisture. Not sure if this is to be expected .. but it worried me! Hello from your NC friend from Instagram! 💗

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Год назад

      Hi there! 🥰 Sometimes mold happens if there's not enough airflow and the moss stays damp. It could be quality of the moss too :)
