i remember laughing to tears, at the production quality back then. especially at the end were he picks up the tv, he's about to smash it. then, places it softly down. hilarious..........
I Love the fact that the guy holds up the little 12 inch TV like he's going to break it, but instead gently sets it down. "That's our TV man! Don't break it!"
Like the Ramones or Bad Religion, the appeal of Black Flag is that it is just regular guys doing it - nobody built up the rock star mystique, and by making music attainable by the lowest common denominator, it inspired a generation of musicians across the continent. We're not here for virtuosos, we're here for a raw, gut feeling. These guys were pioneers, blowing the doors open on our expectations of music - it's not how well they played, it's what they influenced. "My War" has a massive legacy.
Depends on the rap, not all rap is over material objects that's just mostly in today's music there are plenty of fabulous old school and local hip hop/rap groups around
This if funny we were having TV parties before this song came out and when it came out I realized we weren't the only ones having TV parties. The only different is we had ON TV.
Nobody's stopping you from listening to all the old punk music today. No good shows to go to these days? Who cares? Buy, borrow or steal a guitar, learn any three chords you want (I recommend G, C and D) and find some friends for drums and maybe another guitar/bass. Write your own songs - the same issues and attitudes in early punk still resonate strongly. Now have your own show. If you do it right, you should be angrier if people actually show up and enjoy themselves. Have a blast!
love rollins and what i have heard of black flag prior to this song sounds like the sex pistols, with the group vocals or chants and the guitar licks sound like steve jones was in the studio. if you listen to the my war CD the guitar playing is more raw and comes from a real different direction and gives an edge
I love Black Flag. Encima el chabón del sombrero parece que tuviera una gorra de Plusmar, qué bizarro, todavía no se dieron cuenta que el tema es una sátira a la gilada encima... :P
i feel like this song can be applied to my generation of teenagers of teenagers who have their eyes glued to their cellphones(not all of them of course).
First of all, I DO get that. My 3 favorite bands...Saetia, Hot Cross, and Circle Takes The Square. It doesn't get much more cheaper sounding then a lot of that stuff. I am not saying punk rock is terrible or anything like that. But, if you aren't taking it seriously, why do punk people care so much about how much "better" their music is? You can't deny, though, that this band has little talent in the way of guitarists, drums, vocals, mixing, lyrical content, etc
that was fun, thanks for your replay and I'm sorry for not being as smart/fast as you are, maybe I'm a bit slow but not everything about me is that bad ;)
Ok. Let me break it down for you in a nice way. First of all, i was a little caught on by the moment. im sorry for that. The recording quality is worse than it is today, ofcourse, its not made with the gear they got today, and punk rock has to be dirty. I think that this is more "Real" than the pop, this is raw, no limitations and not comercial. I really hate when musicians goes comercial. I also like some pop music, but overall, in the big perspective.
i was i was too young to go to a pub, lived at home with mummy and daddy and paid them rent, and make fun of people who have supported live music for 30 years
I can see what you're saying here. I actually was just listening to it because I heard Henry Rollins talking crap about other types of music and I wanted to hear where he was coming from. And I don't doubt that the album is pretty good. I just hate when people pretend like their music is better than someone else's, which is basically all Henry Rollins seems to like to do nowadays. Sadface.
Punk rock is and never will be dead to me. Punk lives on forever. :)
The episode of Futurama with this song is great.
i remember laughing to tears, at the production quality back then.
especially at the end were he picks up the tv, he's about to smash it. then, places it softly down.
hilarious..........
NOW THIS SONG IS A RUclips PARTY!!!!!! THANK YOU BLACK FLAG AND RUclips, THAT'S INCREDIBLEEEE!!!!!!!
THE BEST !!! AFTER ALL THESE YEARS !!!!
one of my favorite bands.
I Love the fact that the guy holds up the little 12 inch TV like he's going to break it, but instead gently sets it down. "That's our TV man! Don't break it!"
It's funny how they were all happy to be watching there favorite shows on a little TV .Life was sure simple back then
The songs making fun of people who are glued to their television and waste their life not actually living, it's an amazing song
black flag can even make watching TV seem AWESOME
Don't need too. The bars go with me wherever I go.

For those of you who weren't around, staying home to watch "Fridays" in 1979 would be pretty much equal to owning Season Four of "According to Jim."
i know right? and nothing stoping anyone from listening to the old punk songs.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRY!!!!! BEST MUSIC VIDEO/SONG EVER!!!! AND IM ONLY 14
Can't believe that they made a video out of this. Hilarious!
Love the description. Just "punk"-- straight up
I saw this in '85 with some punker friends-- TV really fuck'd a lot of shit up back then.
Depends on the rap, not all rap is over material objects that's just mostly in today's music there are plenty of fabulous old school and local hip hop/rap groups around

This feels like a fever dream, holy fuck
i feel like this song can be applied to my generation of teenagers of teenagers who have their eyes glued to their cellphones(not all of them of course).
Henry Rollins is a clean living guy these days
What's funny and depressing is that while watching this vid I got the tv on and am in fact having a couple brews.

hes talking about modern pop punk, the stuff that sounds nothing like punk but is given the label because the band gets their image from hot topic.
Have a TV party with The Strange Times TV!
Hell yeah! Good idea, man.
2:20 Kurt Cobain Tv Party
Excellent song to get drunk to.
Ironically, this was recorded off MTV.
ha,memories of 8th grade,me and my freind had a little skate crew and we called ourselves t.v. party.we would write t.v. party on shit, silly kids.

I don't even watch TV.

This song is sad but true, Black Flag is being sarcastic if you hadnt noticed.
To be fair though, Rollins is a tv actor
