I love Kalamata. My yiayia came from here and we were close growing up. We came here in 1999 and stayed in Greece for 9.5 weeks. Since then I have been back 5 more times (2009, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2022), and I absolutely love it. Thanks for showing the city's beauty! I wonder, did you make it to Kastraki in Verga?
I love Kalamata too, it is an hour +from where I luve and fab for shopping, I go there a fair bit. I am also near Nafplio and have done a couple of Vids there.... perhaps they all start to blend ..... I am slowly working my way round the Peloponnese, Patras and Corinth up next, maybe Kalamata at night and Mani in April.
Thanks for another great presentation of an interesting Peloponnese town. Kalamata looks very appealing, and its olives are my favorite. The historic context provided in your videos is what truly sets them apart. Again, well done!
Thank you, your feedback is really appreciated. To be honest I find local history fascinating, though I am really interested in Medieval and Bronze age, especially in Greece. There is so much here. I would put a lot more in but have found the Vids with less unfortunately seem to do better... I am learning and will hopefully get better with time. Next week is a shopping centre though.... so I am afraid not much historical context then!
Amazing video of my home town Kalamata every thing thorough only one correction the building on the right at 8:05 is the government house not the university. Thanks again for the memories you brought back as i live overseas now .👍
We're thinking about going in May 2024 or June. What is the weather like in Kalamata and other nearby areas? Would we be able to get into the water? Is the water too cold at that time?
Weather will be fine, 25 to 35c, and the water will be warming up. We always start swimming in May, some start earlier than that. The water will not be like August, but once in, will be fine. Great time to go as you avoid the real heat and the crowds and the prices.
you want a Ktel bus from Kifisos, the main bus station. Ktel are the national network of busses, and run several times a day to Kalamata. Probably take about 3.5 hours with a few stops on the way
@@GreeceExplored Ill be in Kalamata in a month time and Im also a content creator. The video commentary was great though and the video was interesting. Get a stabilizer and your content will be epic and your channel will do very well indeed, no doubt about it. Dont be discouraged of embarrassed cause this slight adjustment will be all you need. Im looking forward to seeing more content in the future.
Im comin to Athens mate end of feb/mar Will my usual shorts, vests, flipflop ensamble suffice or will it be chilly? Great vids Andrew very informative for me,wont be in Athens totally Clueless 👍
It won't likely be cold, but it depends on your perspective! temperatures will typically be 15c to 20c during the day, and a bit chillier at night. Last year we had snow in February in Athens, but this isn't very common. Enjoy your visit!!
Out of town every Wednesday and Saturday is a fantastic market.
Thanks for the useful info!! I do love the place

@@GreeceExplored Yes indeed, the whole Peloponnese is an ideal cycling destination, especially in spring and autumn!

Enjoyed the video. Family is there. Only comment is camera movies to far and fast. Hard to watch
you are right, thanks for the input, I am always trying to learn and improve.
I got a hotel in Athens. How would I get to Kalamata? Is there a train or bus that can take me to this destination? Thanks!

I thought Patra would have the best shopping in the Peloponnese
Perhaps, but Kalamata is really good
january in kalamata and everybody wearing summer clothes
Yep, the weather is mixed at that time of year, but often even in the low 20's
bro your camera movement needs sorted. Stop moving the camera around so much keep it smoother! please felt car sick watching it
I agree actually, something I am trying to improve. Thanks for the useful, (if embarrassing) feedback.

@@GreeceExplored True. And Kalamata has even less snow than Athens!
