I made this yesterday, following the recipe EXACTLY, and all i can say is this is AMAZING!!! The filling is SO savory and complex. Easily the best recipe i have made from your channel. Thanks so much for sharing!
Yes! I commented that I can't eat wheat so I used dark rye seasoned croutons and a squish of lemon as a topping in the oven; it was great!!! I have made a version of this with filo pastry and took to Xmas events, which was also great. .. but I decided to eat my own cooking hence this variation.
Omg I just wanna say, I love love quick recipes but on Sundays I love spending time in the kitchen. This is perfect for a Sunday or Holiday when you wanna and you have time to spend in the kitchen
This is just what I've been looking for, something different than my usual recipies, love all the ingredients and with the pastry bet it's delicious!, Thanks guys!, I'm making it this weekend for sure
Oooo, that looks simply scrumptious! Going to make this for me and the hubby for Christmas. He’s an omnivore but I’ve now got him about 98% converted to vegan WFPB thanks to all these delicious recipes. Happy Holidays to you both and all the family. Stay safe and be well!
This looks so delicious, my mouth is literally watering from watching this video. I would be guilty of stuffing it way too much, so thanks for the warning haha.
I loved the stuffing although I can't find chestnuts for some reason near me; I have in the past made one of the iterations of this stellar recipe to bring to a Christmas gathering. For myself, wheat is my enemy -- no biggy just good to be aware of this so oddly enough minus chestnuts - I add almonds -- this actually works splendidly as a pot pie with the top seasoned dark rye sour dough croutons, kid you not. Tried stuffing peppers, bad idea. Best wishes you guys as always I think the new year will bring us a vaccine and things will get better. My take away from 2020 is something you both talk about a lot and actually live; community. I had lots of opportunities to help other people in various ways and occasionally was extremely grateful when someone helped me back!
I usually make a Wellington of some sort at the festive season I always include sweet chestnuts (Marronen) and rice as the starch - so basically I will be making something akin to this for our Christmas Eve dinner (because it is Germany and we have our dinner on Heliger Abend) Then it comes out again with potatoes and Brussel Sprouts on Christmas Day lunch LOL Look forward to seeing the recipe when the link appears in the show notes
this is bit different recipe from what i did 😋. but will try it and this one cause the other it was pretty delish. just not sure for the chestnut does i will can find.
Can’t wait to try this, but what’s the best way of freezing? Is it better to freeze after cooking and then reheating or freezing uncooked? Thinking of the best prep before Christmas Day 🎄
This looks wonderful. It would be fantastic if someone could write this out so it's easy to print out for us and have for us, especially since the book isn't available yet. I find that trying to make something just by watching a video at the same time to be very difficult.
Ah, it's a cracker! I saw the picture earlier in the week and have been wondering why you put a fish tail on the wellington. Doh! But thanks guys, I've been looking for a wellington recipe for christmas this year and this looks perfect. Cant wait.
I thought it was a fish tail too! I'm still trying to work out why they mention cutting out triangles from the second sheet of pastry when the ingredients only calls for one sheet.
First time cooking for Christmas, surely going to make this! Just wish they had a video on how to make the gravy... The instructions in the recipe are a bit confusing...
Nearly half a century ago.. (I know time flys) I ended up at an unknown Ladys house 4 a Christmas feast...It was full of cheer and children and everything had a rosy glow...(including me probably)and there I tried my first Vegan sausage roll...It was sublimley delicious...I havn't nailed it yet...I dont want it to taste like meat...just like my first crumbly mouthful..?What made them so delicious ? Guys ...you must have the key ??
What is a good substitute for parsnips? They are not readily available here where I live. Louisiana is a vegan 🏜. They believe here if it doesn't have meat in the meal that it isn't a meal. I am trying to do better than that.
I'm a regular viewer and yes they have used wine before. New for me; what is non vegan wine? It wouldn't matter to me because I'm a recovering alcoholic and over the last 7 yrs this way of eating was SOOO important getting my health back. I could nitpick and say that I avoid charring things don't use coconut oil or quite that much tamari ... or over cooking garlic .... you see how petty that is. 2 great guys making brilliant food and engaged in an accountable life in their community. They really are the real deal.
@@thehappypear life gives lemons I make lovely lemonade or lemon oyster stew ☺️ hope you and your loved ones are well with the new way of 'being' 🙏🏻💜🤗🎋
i feel like you have 5 Wellington-Videos. I love them all, but my family is fed up with wellingtons for christmas-dinner, so i would like alternatives :D
Yes Madam, and what else would you like? There is a plethora of other vegan channels you can consult. Also if I am not mistaken the holidays is about ritual and eating the same special dishes every year is part of the experience. So there are other avenues. Sorry I'm probably wrong but I thought you were out of order on this one.

Christmas dinner. Love something I can prep ahead of time.
This one can be made a couple of days in advance and then just baked on the day 👍🏼😄💚
A healthy idea of savory pie. I would like to prepare it on the weekend and it can be one of the holiday dishes.

Hope you're both doing ok in these weird times, thanks for still making the vids! ♥♥
I made this Wellington on Christmas day this year. It went down a treat with all the family - delicious. Thanks for the recipe and Happy New Year!
I had one of these last year, which came from a vegan restaurant, but it's great to know that I can make one myself. Thanks! Looks Great!
Super stuff thanks enjoy
I cooked this with a mix of cashew, pine and walnuts (no chestnuts available). Omg it was amazing. What a winner ! Thanks guys
I just made a vegan Wellington using your recipe for our Thanksgiving dinner. It was a massive hit and incredibly tasty!
Looks like my Christmas dinner is sorted x

You can grow Sage, Rosemary and Thyme in your garden and the deer won't touch them. It's true. They seem to be fond of Thai Basil however.
I'm growing a whole hedge of Rosemary because I love the smell so much but the thyme spreads all over the place
Watching this while eating left over jackfruit-wellington from Thanksgiving 🤙🏻
Lovely boys! And your Wellington came out lovely as well!
🌲Happy Christmas🌲
I preordered the latest book - Christmas present to me (from me). Happy Holidays,!

Can you substitute mushrooms (I’m allergic) for a tin of green lentils? Would that work?
This look ace, can i freezer the filling if I make too much?

If you put in sweet potatoes will they cook well in the fry pan before assembling the wellington?

It's the wrong time of year for chestnuts in Australia, do you have an alternative you would suggest or just leave them out?
They sell them canned.
Haha !!I was just about to say:- "you can make it like a Christmas Cracker" and you did...!! Sounds more appetising than Wellingtons too ? ××
