Would this be like a cliché in movies and books?

Not exactly, although if you really didn't know much about the concept of Archetypes, I could see why you might link the two. Archetypes, according to Jung, are part of our collective, yet unconscious knowledge -- part of what connects us as the human race. Cliche is more about imitating something; archetype is perhaps less contrived, yet authors can skillfully USE archetypal characters, situations, symbols, etc. to tap into that collective knowledge in unique and different ways (ex. Star Wars & Harry Potter use MANY archetypal elements successfully, which makes their work universally accessible and appealing).
I guess you could say cliche is less effective and more trite--forced--overused. Archetype can be a new/unique spin on an old concept.
