- From 2014-2019 I had the privilege of pastoring the Chewelah, WA Seventh-day Adventist church. Several of our godly women had previously been appointed in their churches to serve as elders, a position which the Bible reserves for spiritually-qualified males. When I met them they had rejected the practice and, wanting to share their experience, several women from churches across multiple states created this video. When it was recently discovered that the material was no longer available on the internet, I was given permission to upload it onto my channel. I am glad to make available this important material. I believe the video was originally published in the spring of 2015.

There is a constant push from the opposition for us to loosen certain standards, and adopt the same practices as other denominations of the world that surround us. So it was with the nation of Israel to be like the nations that surrounded them. Look where it led them-into apostasy, idolatry, rebellion, and ultimately, separation from God. We are called to be a peculiar people. Let’s keep it that way, all to the honor and glory of God!
Amen to every word these ladies shared from the heart. God has an order of leadership and we HAVE to follow. The church is divided and too busy with things that have nothing to do with salvation. Why do i need a title to serve God. If i have Christ in my heart, i will follow His instruction fully by submitting to the order He has put in the church. How a woman can be the head or the shepherd of a church? Women were following Jesus everywhere serving Him with all their hearts and capacity without waiting for Jesus to give them a title. Christ is the head of the church, the husband is the head of the woman. This is the order Christ has put and we HAVE to follow. Jesus is coming soon. The church is divided. The foolish virgins will not be prepared. Have plenty of oil sisters in your lamps. Let us keep our eyes on Christ alone.

Am the first person in PNG protests against women ordination while every one say yes for it i didn't so i gave up paying tithing and get lord supper since 2018 because i don't want my money to pay pastors who work for employment not for the truth in Bible i pray for church reformation the church is weakening most if our church members are not aware if they are informed number of church members will drop by millions church is sprit already but not to late we go back to Bible.
Please continue to pay the tithe and participate in the Holy Communion Service, leave this matter in the hands of God and He will bless you.
Pray for the ministers who are erring by supporting women ordination, this against God's will.

As a woman, I ask, why do we think that women need to be a pastor to minister, to be in ministry. Women are ordained by God, but for a specific purpose and role. When we become dissatisfied with the role that God has set for us we disrupt the family, the community, the society. One of the main causes of the degradation in society is because the mother(woman)is not in the home. Women of God let us not fall prey to the schemes and wiles of the enemy
You might not be aware, but we don't all get to live in cushy homes in first class economies in the world you know. Some women are already doing Ministry alone and very remote places in the world, they should be recognized and ordained. It should be an exception not a rule

What I am seeing is a deliberate twisting of the Bible to make it support women ordination.

In the early 1980's I was a chairman of the nominating committee of a church that had 600 members. I along with one other elder moved the nominating committee to NOT reelect 2 women, as elder. It passed by not unanimously. That vote caused some to get a largely attended business meeting that overturned the committee vote. So there...As far as I am concerned, the SDA church is composed of bible ignorant, gullible, deceived, fanatic, worldly victims of inept SDA pastors who don't really know how or what to preach. These pastors are poorly trained in homiletics and hardly use/teach much bible in their damage control topical sermons. I have attended/visited 50+ SDA churches in 50 years and it is like that in almost all churches. You can even see some fairly competent SDA pastors on RUclips videos presenting sermons that criticize what is wrong and DUMB about the church! Most of the ministerial secretaries are inept as well. What do they get paid for, just to check if some pastors are heretics???.....

It's something about seeing the man in the leadership roles in the church, as God designed!! No improvement can be done on what God has done.
She can be the pastor's wife a labour along side as help meet in reaching where her husband is unable to reach.
Amen these women are indeed Proverbs 31 women and I have been blessed with one myself. Let Jesus lead.
Ordination is simply us recognizing the Holy Spirit doing work on somebody in that talent. For example, Judas was anointed directly by Jesus, Judas carried out miracles in his name, and we see where that went. Similarly, Paul was anointed by God and Barnabas recognized disorder Nation from Christ and the Holy Spirit and brought Paul for the disciples. Ordination is simply us recognizing the work that God is doing in whomever he chooses, not who we chose.
That's not quite accurate. It's the Holy Spirit giving a spiritual gift or gifts for the upbuilding of the church. It isn't the recognition of talent. That is often what human beings do to the detriment of God's work. The battle is spiritual, not physical, & therefore requires spiritual discernment; the natural eye cannot understand them, interpret them, or take correct action.

However, it isn't talent that should warrant ordination, but Holy Spirit anointing. Yes, many are ordained due to their talent & production of results. However, we don't see as God sees. God looks at the motives, the surrendered heart, we look at the actions. Yes, I agree w/ you that both Judas & Apostle Paul are examples of this.
Amen! The Bible admonishes us in Exodus 23:2 “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:”

Well, it's about time! YAY! I agree 💯 percent. NOWHERE in Scripture did Jesus ordain women, nor did they preach. They served the men and church as "helpmeets," ministered to the needs of them. The Bible is absolutely clear about this, and there's no mistaking it. Based on this undeniable truth, I say without hesitation that if the two churches near me in Michigan ever had women preaching or ordained, I'd leave.
Note that I left the church at 15, and didn't return until my 50's; was very much a part of and in love with the world, was very much an independent fan of women's lib. However, even then I believed exactly the same, knew women's ordination wasn't ok, and especially wasn't ok with God. It's simple, actually. Those who persist in doing what God forbids, regardless of what it is, will answer to God for it, and be lost. We can't pick and choose what we'll obey/not obey. That's selfish, deception, and apostasy.
I'm still that very independent gal...but now within God's just and righteous boundaries. I don't feel cheated at all, because I totally get why God says "no" to many things. Women's ordination is but one of them.

I agree. Women were designed by God with a purpose. When the man and the woman work in unison as God had designed..it is the brightest light to sway the people on earth back to the Saviour. We do the bidding of Satan when we feel betrayed by God and men and we choose to take what was never ours. We as women have a powerful role to be in. God knew this and it was a true gift. Women need to be strong enough to stand up for what is right. To be willing to live the truth so everyone can see Truth in this action. God forgive us for our lack of understanding😢
The revival may be delayed because the men are not filling the role God made for them. When there is a void, and especially in the church, it needs to be filled. The preaching should not be to the women to stop trying to fill the void, but to the men to do what God has asked them to do. If they did that and actual led I suspect there would be less women trying to fill the void. It is not the fault of the women that the men are not connected to God.
💯 I pray for men in our church all the time to be the leaders God called them to be. No one ever mentions Ellen White. The message was shared with two men who didn't move forward. God then went to a sickly teen-ager who valued prayer and had a simple faith. What a gift she has been to our church. We see many leadership roles for women in the Bible. Deborah was a judge. She was married. She shared her wisdom with both men and women. To all who quoted Paul extensively, he also said women would be saved by childbearing. I've never had children. Maybe he was talking about a different saving?
You’re right, there are examples of leadership roles for women in the Bible, including prophets! And I don’t have an issue with men being the elders. I haven’t actually studied that typically controversial comment of Paul’s. But I do know that Galatians spells it out clearly that salvation is for everyone!

5:17 cleary the solution to this controversy is to create new femenine titles for Pastor and Elder so they become distinct categories for woman. That worked foe deaconess. If 1st Timothy chapter 3 is the standard, then it should be applied equally to deacons as to bishops. She shouldn't think its acceptable for deconesses to exist when verse 12 plainly says, "Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife. Yet no one complains and the church continues to run smoothly.
Not an SDA, but we keep the commandments including the 4th. Apparently there some sda pastors that believe it is ok for women to be pastors and elders. Would suggest if your pastor is like that, then move to a church where the pastor and board support a biblical stance. tithe to pastors that keep the biblical values. We tithe to Mark Finley online, he is a great man of God
I don’t believe running is the answer. We are called to be the light were we are. If you leave the grass might appear greener then after you’ve been there a bit you’ll see that every church has things to deal with . It’s our job to pray through them. In His time He will make all things beautiful. We don’t pay tithe to a preacher. We give it to the conference then it’s split to support all pastors. So no one makes more than another. I can guarantee he doesn’t keep it but turns it in to the conference he belongs to. We are a world wide church working all together.

Honestly there are limitless roles that we as women can take part in within the body of Christ. I don’t see why we need to also get into being elders and pastors.

Thanks for this video. Women are right to insist on being treated equal & be given respect like men. As the women in this video state, the push to ordain women comes from culture & is not sanctioned by Adventist history & its authoritative literature (Bible & Spirit of Prophecy). To force a reversal of the traditional practice that does not derive legitimacy from the denomination’s history & the Bible will only create further disenchantment with the church itself & exacerbate theological & cultural conflicts within. As the women in this video state, such a change will open doors to a myriad of other unwanted changes. Religiously binding social norms such as gender roles or marriage cannot be changed within the walls of the same religion without creating fragmentation & despair. A new religion is necessary to bring about the needed social change. It’s not within the power of the Adventist church to smoothly bring about the equality of the sexes. I could be wrong.
As someone who takes neither side, I found your comment interesting. The most frequent position used in the NT is deacon, which means servant or to serve. What is missing from the early church? The demand to be treated with respect and equality. The disciples didn’t ask for it, Jesus didn’t ask for it. Why are you demanding it?
I don’t find headship theology in the Bible either, but it would be refreshing to see both sides jockeying for the first to be given positions of servants.

Any one who believes that woman should not be preaching and exhorting from the pulpit better be prepared in all honesty to never use the words of our most beloved and highly esteemed prophet Mrs Ellen White to instruct, exhort or encourage from the church pulpit ever again. To forbid women from preaching and being ordained and yet use the words of Mrs White from the pulpit using the same mouth is the is the height of hypocrisy.

Those of you who are commenting, feel free to disagree. But what I am most interested in is, AFTER you have watched this short video and THOUGHT about what these former women elders have said, that is, after you have considered their arguments and reasons, I would be interested in your reactions to those arguments and reasons. For example, I don't believe there is anywhere in the presentation where these women argue about women preaching in the pulpit. Possibly some of the comments shared here are by some who are not actually responding to the content but instead are airing their random ideas. And we allow that too, but particular reaction may be more useful those who stop by and begin reading the comments. Thanks!

There is nothing 'magical' about the ordination. It is ONLY mankind's recognition of God using and working through that person. There is strong evidence that Ellen White was ordained. We are ALL called to the priesthood of all believers. In Christ, there is no male or female. If we think that only men should be used by Christ, then what a sad, sad lot we are. These are clear verses. We as SDA's say we should not smoke - that's not in the Bible except by implication. There are many topics we teach, like the resurrection, that are implied but not specifically stated. People who want to deny God's use of someone are tying God's hands.
The world church voted no on Righteousness by Faith for a time. That was wrong and we now acknowledge that. Yes, we need to die to self and acknowledge Jesus as our head, not a pastor, not an elder. It is time we have Christ and only Christ as head. The rest are equal, men and women, at the cross.

If ever ordination is eventually adopted by the GC, I believe that it will create more division than unity. I will not allow my family or relative to be baptised by someone without scriptural authority. This is not the issue of culture but the real issue is the scripture. It does not mean if the bible is silent in a particular issue it tantamounts to its its acquiscence or tolerance. Same is true with regards to same sex marriage one can not read the bible verbatim that God prohibits it but no suncere Christian would argue with me that same sex marriage is unscriptural and is abomination before the eyes of God.

Women knows their piece in the church,you don’t have to be an ordain minister, leave that to the men, as God instructed them to.I cannot understand why women wants to be ordained, they have already been anointed by God to do great work in the church, women find your calling and get on with the work.
Ordination is a human construct. It is not required or even biblical but a carry-over of the Roman Church. It does not convey magical powers on a person, it is meant to publically acknowledge that God is using that person to win souls to Him.
God using individuals, men and women is Biblical. God called 2 different adult men before he called Ellen White, a sickly teenage woman to be His messenger. There is strong evidence that she was ordained even though she never pastored a church. Back in her day pastors didn't hold churches like we do today either, they went where God led them and preached.
God tells us that in 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." He doesn't say but you are a chosen man, he says a chosen people. People include men and women, boys and girls. God bless as you wrestle with this, and may none of us stand in His way.
God also tells us a workman is worthy of their hire. Do you realize that the Adventist Church (denomination) has traditionally paid less to women than men doing the same work? Where is that honoring God? Women have families to feed too. Sometimes husbands die. Sometimes husbands leave their wives and children. To tell a woman they get less because they are female, how does that honor God? That's also done with women serving as chaplains, pastors, and Bible workers. We either need to do away with 'ordination' completely or give women doing the same work as men the same pay as men.
Well, I appreciate women speaking up. However my question is where in Bible does the Bible say women cannot be Elders and a Pastor? At the time Paul said a husband of one wife, women took extreme measures to handle menstruation, but is it the same today? If a woman can be a Prophet but not a Pastor?
A woman can be a Prophet(ess) but not an Elder. The Word of GOD is clear. Interestingly, there is a word for a female Prophet but there is no such word as "Elderess."

Whenever we see women taking the divine role of men as church leaders, then it means there is apostasy within the church. Even in Isaiah's time, this was what was happening.

I must say that as an African-American, Seventh-day Adventist man who is biblically opposed to the ordination of women as Elders and Pastors, and who personally knows many African-American, Seventh-day Adventist women who are also opposed to the ordination of women as Elders and Pastors, it is a bit disconcerting that the only women you interview are white. There are very many African-American Seventh-day Adventists of both genders who uphold the principle of male headship, we as a church body as a whole would do well to recognize this.
I would love to interview a godly group of African-American Adventist women who are as you describe. Bring them on and we’ll do an interview video and the whole Church can be blessed by their insights!

The problem comes about when we want to do away with God's words and do our own thing. The home is in chaos because some women are given the role of leadership. We all have our roles and as a female I am totally against W.O. I have no issue supporting my brothers in their leadership role. If we are saying we are going by the teachings of the Bible then some things are not up for discussion, the Bible already shut it down so how dare us try to justify or fix it our way. Women who are desirous of ordination should simply join a church where this is acceptable and leave the SDA Church out of their madness.

I think it makes God a liar because he says pastors / elders should have one wife. That would be used to prove gay marriage is biblical in the future. Furthermore pastoring is a gift and nothing is more rewarding that pastoring your own little flock as a mom or carer if you don’t have your own. You want to rule over men ? Rule over future men ie boys

1) Let's just take this video. For a church that is so diverse, they couldn't find one "other" to give an opinion on this issue. It gives a glimpse into the church's lack of appreciation that other cultures exist and matters. I think it's dishonest to devalue the impact of culture on our doctrines and style of worship. It's blatantly obvious which culture dominates our denomination.
2) Leadership accountability.
3) Quality of the ministers pastoring our churches.
4) All of the above has an impact on our inability to nurture a future generation of mighty evangelists. They are leaving in droves , and the church's response is "they are not connected to Christ". Yes...but, come on!
5) It is time to pay our Elders... They do the majority of the work. They are the actual modern day Levites. I want my tithes to go to them.
I can go on but... Yeh... These are some of the issues that need to be sorted out on this side of eternal life.
