Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born Piers Stefan O'Meara, 30 March 1965), known professionally as Piers Morgan, is a British journalist and television personality currently working in the United States as the US editor-at-large for Mail Online.
Morgan is the editorial director of First News, a national newspaper for children published in the UK. He began hosting Piers Morgan Live on CNN on 17 January 2011. The show replaced Larry King Live in the 9:00 pm timeslot following King's retirement. Piers Morgan Live was cancelled by CNN in February 2014 and aired its final broadcast on March 28, 2014. Morgan is a former judge on America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent, and a winner of Celebrity Apprentice.
In the UK, Morgan worked as a writer and editor for several British tabloids, including The Sun, News of the World and the Daily Mirror. In November 2012, he was heavily criticised in the official findings of the Leveson Inquiry, when Lord Leveson stated that comments made in Morgan's testimony about phone hacking were "utterly unpersuasive" and "clearly prove ... that he was aware that it was taking place in the press as a whole and that he was sufficiently unembarrassed by what was criminal behaviour that he was prepared to joke about it".

I completely agree with you about Piers, does my head most times but he is a smart lad and does surprise me from time to time with some common sense... in reference to the gun violence in the USA, at the time of me writing this reply, there was another two mass shootings in the states this past week alone ... But it so stupid that the Americans` allow this to happen... the stats state that proper gun control will reduce the amount of gun related deaths... They think more guns will stop this... arm the teachers, arm everyone, a good person with a gun will beat a bad person with a gun, its an oxymoron... good people will not want to use the gun, maybe hesitate a little when it comes to actually having to use them, leaving the bad person, who is on a rampage, another soft target!!

While Piers can at times come across as arrogant, there is more that I like about him than dislike. He is true to himself and never tiptoes around issues. He is not afraid to give his opinion, even when he knows it will be unpopular. Piers is a good judge of character. He had Meghan Markle figured out a couple of years ahead of the rest of us. I respect Piers for his honesty and for being such a straight arrow.

That's indeed a good positive story and it actually illustrates what I think is the best solution of all: " The driver had a concealed-carry permit and acted in the defense of himself and others ". How did that first crazyman got a gun in the first place? Also there's the how did the driver [fortunately] got his permit?
I'll finish by mentioning that the second amendment says " the right of people to keep and bear arms " but there's a clear distinction between people and crazy people that clearly aren't in the same category and the amendment doesn't discriminate wich is wich. Background checks seem to be a fair well-ballanced solution for all without infringing the second amendment.

I don’t like him on GMB but I’ve got to admit I think he’s a very very good interviewer on life stories and documentaries he’s done.
Piers Morgan may be the only ex-tabloid editor I respect. He can be irritating - perhaps smug, at times but deserves credit for standing up to the gun lobby.

Got to respect some one in the public eye speaking his mind clearly and honestly, that makes it all the easier to decide whether or not to agree with them. Wish politicians would do the same, so people actually knew what they are voting for.
At least he gives politicians a good grilling when they are on morning television and not the kid gloves that so many cuddle them with .
British journalism is 100% influential. From mid teens onwards I was drawn to a lot of journalists that I agree with or challenge my thinking and followed them for over a decade, some I've even continued to follow no matter who they write for. Some I've gone deeper and read their books which were very fascinating and/or made me question a lot of widely held British beliefs.

+Garry Jackson Nobody is all bad (within reason). That said, he doesn't help himself, maybe it's the language he uses that makes him appear to be a complete bullshit artist, for instance stating Clarkson attacked him "savagely" and yet "pathetically weakly" makes no sense at all. He really needs to choose his words more carefully as a public figure. He also will not back down from an argument when his position is proven to be illogical (his stance on us gun laws is a striking example of this)
