Todderbert, I have always been impressed with Eton radio products and the Eton Elite Executive AM/FM/LW/AIR Shortwave with SSB with "Sync" is certainly no exception! In a nutshell the Eton Executive is a radio that one should consider purchasing perhaps! Thank you again, Todderbert, for another entertaining tutorial video in reference to the Eton Elite Executive! This radio would certainly be a "YES BUY" in my opinion indeed!
@@todderbert thnks 4 replying todd culd u recommend a good 1st radio, im really only interested in picking up foreign radio stations, just want something tht isnt too complex but is still able to pick up stations from around the world?
Can't wait for the next version of the radio with the color display. I have this current radio, it's my favorite radio. I bought a toroidal ferrite ring and wrapped the power supply wire to reduce that 60hz hum I here on my radios. I don't know why I pick up a 60hz hum listening to a strong radio station even when I run the radio on batteries.
WGN 720. .WLS 890... WBBM 780..... Chicago .. received in California at night....also CKLW 810 Windsor ON Canada also....in the 1970s...that was a great Oldies Station!!!
Hey Todderbert! Great am radio band scans! I have a challenge for you. Obtain a good working Grundig Satellit 750 or Tecsun S 2000, or Eton Elite 750 (all the same) and make a homemade adapter from your CCrane twin coil antenna to plug it into the external AM antenna socket located on the existing AM antenna rotator on the 750. Then post the best performer tandem in your You Tube HISTORY!!!!
Todd, I just found this video, great job. Now for the question. You were using the Terk Advantage antenna loop off to the left. How close does to need to be to the radio, since I never see it in the video? Also, does it negate the use/need of a long wire or is their anytime I would need a long wire for AM and shortwave? Yes it is really 4:14 AM in East TN. Thanks again of your help. How long did it take for you to learn all of the stations? Totally impressive!
@@todderbert Well I left it at my aunt Kim's house on accident Christmas Eve 2021 and now her and my uncle can't find it. I called ccrane and they won't do anything😭
Just bought one, still waiting to receive, had to buy another one as my only portable one, digitech ar-1780 stopped working on me, it only functioned as a night light now lol, excited to receive this one though hope it lasts longer than the digitech
Just picked up one of these as an open box special. Haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet, but my first impressions are that it's solid and well made...plus it uses AA batteries! Need to go over the manual as well. Any pointers about this particular radio?
Sometimes with Shortwave band (7 mhz or higher), but would be very hit and miss with varying propagation conditions. Best bet would be to listen to them on the internet.
the Skywave gives you NOAA Weather Bands, but no Longwave. The Skywave is more portable. the Eton is my top choice at home. The Skywave SSB while on the go.
I just got mine....i got KNX on 1070 from L A Calif......i Got Panama on 1017khz....may got Radio Siga Japan on 1215khz.... Radio Pyongyang North Korea all at 8 00 pm Pacific Time g on 4990khz
My EEE has absolutely terrible AM reception, DX switch in either position. I can't reconcile why the performance I'm getting is so bad compared to other peoples' reviews.
Taking it outside is the obvious move. This is to check if there is strong RFI in the home causing poor reception. LED lighting, WiFI, Power Strips, Phones, TVs, Tablets, ect...
I live in a Chicago high-rise that's essentially a Faraday cage, and unless the Eton Elite Executive is near a window, even strong stations like WBBM and WGN are awash with RFI. Next to a window, however, my EEE picks up all local stations. My apartment faces south, so low-power stations to the north are somewhat weaker all the time - but at night, the radio pulls in regional stations almost as if they were local and smaller stations with careful tuning.

Think I'll try 780 at midnight to see if I can hear the old time radio show.
From SW Ohio, about 15 to 20 miles from WLW 700.
This would certainly be the radio of choice for me, better sound & quality in my opinion.

I've been able to pick up China and Australia on Shortwave with this radio using an external wire antenna. I'm in California USA.
How does this compare to the Skywave SSB? I’m a radio newb, and want to get the most features possible.
