Excellent presentation. Gave lots of serious info whilst remaining accessible to people with little previous knowledge of lichens. I will certainly inspect lichens even more closely in future.
I enjoyed this, it was very informative. There are some fictional stories regarding lichen. One by John Wyndham, and another whose author I cannot recall. This latter described an experiment that hybridised grass with lichen. Due to lichen's ability to break down rock and live directly on and from that rock, that grass would grow, prolifically, on anything. Eventually everything on the whole planet was covered in this grass, except a ship at sea. Then a patch was found on the ships deck....! .
A friend of mine just finished illustrating a book on lichen. Before her involvement I had no idea just how important they were. Your video is very informative.
