      A joke:
      What did the Italian mushroom say to his wife?
      Hai face!
      Explanation for the Joke:
      “Hai” in Italian means “You have a beautiful (followed by the feature you’re complimenting)”. “Hai face” sounds like “hyphae”; hyphae are, to simplify the term, fungal filaments or fibers.
      What did you think about my joke?

    Thank you very much for making this entire lecture available for free! Is there any possibility of the next 3 lectures from this class being uploaded here as well? Or will it just be this one? I looked through your list of videos and didn't see the rest of this course.
    I'd love to see more long-form educational lectures like this one uploaded, especially about mycology! I just subbed to your channel and added a handful more videos to my watch list 😁🤘🏻

    Small mistake at around 14: 43 tylopilus felleus. Felleus means "bitter like gall/bile" as indeed it is.

    Ive avoided national audobon guides because there are many things common around here than I cant find in them, particularly insects and I'm lost without education trying to identify mosses. Non-vasculars get no love. Fungi, though. Probably a good investment, no matter where you live in america.

      @zuul902 3 года назад

      yeah it's probably best to just get a guide that is specific to your area

    Once upon a time I picked a bunch of shrooms with a friend and cooked a meal from that. But It turned out, that we had picked almost only tylopilus felleus :D
    Not so tasty..

    Help question. If I mixed a cake that has already produced mushrooms will that help to create a second round of mushrooms? Ty

    • @neutronpixie6106
      @neutronpixie6106 3 года назад +2

      Since the cake has been in open air for so long, the amount of possible contaminates are a little high, if you're talking apart breaking up your cake and putting it to fresh substrate that it will have to recolonize. If you're going with straight cakes, you're better off just soaking it overnight. Should be able to get multiple flushes out of a single cake that way, but learning grainspawn to substrate will always get you more than cakes with nearly the same amount of work.

    I don't think the discussion of slime molds should have been included in this presentation. Perhaps mention it as a side note, but the emphasis on the slime mold seems like it would add confusion as to what is/is not fungi. Slime mold is a microbial eukaryote (protist) and is not related to fungi. It should not be included in the discussion of fungi.

    There is no way “there are more species of fungi in your gut as there are cells in your body.” Must’ve misspoke?

    • @aemorion
      @aemorion 2 года назад +1

      i think he might have mistaken bacteria for fungi. thats why people who take strong antibiotics have to be careful. they can accidently kill all the bacteria important for digestion in there gut. but then again i aint no expert so for all i know it is fungi lol.
