Tried the caramel wheel on very faded stickers on my daughter's 120 series prado, but the sticker has etched into the paint. Had a quote to dust respray two panels and feather in to existing paint and was quoted $750! Luckily I did some searching and found your solid back stickers which I have now ordered. They won't be perfect but a darn sight cheaper than the alternative! Thanks for the video.
The sticker won't reappear as it's completely gone. However if it's been on there for some time, the paint around the sticker may have faded, so you may see the shadow of it.
Good to know. Cheap too. Thanks for the heads up! I have been looking for clear film to apply to body panels. I can only find model specific kits, so wondering if you know where I can get a roll of the stuff as no one stocks kits for my 4x4. The other side of this puzzle is what is a good, long lasting film and what is only good for a few months or a year. I don't want to be applying this stuff, or more importantly ripping it off so as to apply new film every bloody year! :)
It's very difficult to apply a film over the whole car, with all the complex curves etc. You should see a vehicle wrapping place and see what they can do. Should be no problem getting a clear version. You could also consider a temporary protective layer, such as Bush Barrier or Rhino Hide.
@@austimages Thanks for the info. I was actually only going to cover vulnerable panels or part panels - the whole car is overkill. While thinking about this since posting the original comment, it occurred to me that I might be able to use some of that polycarbonate thin sheet, cut out for the key panels, rear quarter, lower door, leading edge of fenders and the leading edge of the bonnet, stuck down with some 3M clear double sided tape used for polycarbonate. Hopefully the caramel wheel can remove the tape when its time. Tacky look, perhaps, but I think it may do the job.
