      Lucy Carter SAME! I made these for my family and my mom and brother adored them. I however used a wet batter and deep fried them then coasted them in a chipotle honey BBQ I made and put them in the oven to caramelize. They're so amazing

  • @binbunni

    I totally changed this recipe after making them for a while because I kept seeing that after adding the buffalo sauce halfway through they lost all their crisp, so I cooked them the full way with just the batter and them quartered the buffalo sauce recipe for dipping. I find when I do them this way they're much crispier and you get more flavour from dipping the straight in the sauce.

    • @jocelyn3773
      @jocelyn3773 8 лет назад +2

      what do you mean by quartered?

    • @binbunni
      @binbunni 8 лет назад +26

      I divided the amount of sauce by four and only made that so didn't waste any because if you make the full recommended amount of sauce you coat the wings but they lose their crispness but if you dip them you don't use as much expensive hot sauce and your wings are still crispy

    I put them on a rack to drain off the excess batter. it helps to prevent the doughy/burnt puddles that you wind up ripping off and leaving bald batterless spots on the cauli.

    • @miunya
      @miunya 7 лет назад +6

      I ended up eating the batter puddle bc I didnt burn it and it just tasted good when it turned brown lmaooo, but next time I think ill figure to do something like that coz yeah the batter ran off too easily for me too

    • @cynthiaromero3260
      @cynthiaromero3260 5 лет назад +2

      yeah all the batter came off the cauli when I tried flipping them over -.- i think TOO much batter is the cause of this. I literally poured the remaining batter on top smh

    Lauren i just wanna say I still come back to this video 8 years later to make these wings. Ive *almost* perfected it...
    my friend tried to buy wax paper for this and was annoyed I insisted on parchment..LOL. And you taught me about putting something in an already hot oven vs. letting it sit in there while it heats up... as someone who never got taught how to cook that was really invaluable foundational information that helped my cooking journey a lot.
    Hope all is well with you.

    This is a huge cauliflower. Here in Switzerland most of the cauliflowers are way smaller. :D
    And GMO has nothing to do with that.

    • @selkinors3320
      @selkinors3320 8 лет назад +49

    • @luis25s
      @luis25s 8 лет назад +11

      +lgbtTV5 Have you ever heard of different varieties of vegetables? One of the main differences between varietes of any vegetable is size. Different sizes also have a lot to do with growth conditions and time of harvest. Stop the anti GMO paranoia or you might end up looking as ignorant as the gitl in this video.

    • @ilonaryser6314
      @ilonaryser6314 8 лет назад +1

      Where do you buy them though? I usually buy them at the Weekend Market in Bern. I buy them from the stand who sells organic demeter veggies and they have all different sizes of cauliflowers. The last one I bought was just as big. 😊

    • @whyyoureadinmyname5145
      @whyyoureadinmyname5145 6 лет назад +6

      Wilddornrose GMO may not have anything to do with YOUR califlower in Switzerland but it definitely has something to do with GMO in America. America injects animals with hormones to make their meat bigger and they modifiy vegetables to make them all perfect shape, size, and color. If the vegetable is ugly or too small they throw them away. And once they modify them and sell them to people the fruits and vegetables become their property and they become copy righted. So if u grow GMO seeds u belong to them and ur vegetables and fruits belong to them. After the disaster in Hati the U.S gave them seeds to help them grow their plants back. Alot of hatians burnt the seeds cuz they know that already. They refused to plant the seeds or they would be in business and owned by the U.S farmers and would not have power over their own farms. But sadly some hatians planted those modified seeds. This is researchable info. People just like to live with their head in the clouds.

    Lauren! John! I want you guys to know that I finally made these wings tonight, and I made up my own variation of curry cauliflower wings which we had with chutney and they were SO GOOD! Followed the same recipe as your hot wings just added 1 teaspoon of Malaysian curry powder instead of paprika, a dash of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger and 1/2 teaspoon of coriander. Highly recommend! Thanks for all the amazing content and inspiration guys :)

    Thank you very much guys for this recipe. I had leftovers and had no clue about what to make for those remains, but then I remember cauliflower goes well with curry... So I can higly reccomend those little muchies together with peanutbutter, coconut, thai curry rice with raisins, roasted cashews, pineapple and fresh corriander. Had a delicious dinner and people loved these thingies. Putting a bit of Asoefitida in there does wonders. Thank you guys!

    I made these and they were amazing. I used slightly less sauce so they'd stay crispy, and I halved the recipe for the ranch sauce. Also, I used a glass tray (no parchment) and they didn't stick! These tasted so amazing, I'm definitely going to make these more often, however, the prep time, cooking time, clean-up and eating was around 2 hours total lol

    Listen to her when she says use parchment paper! I know she makes it clear in this video AND on her website but I didn't feel like going to the store for parchment paper so I used a glass casserole dish and sprayed a little coconut oil. Uh. Yea, like she said it will stick. I learned my lesson. I will have to try this recipe with parchment paper. Also, they were soft, does the parchment paper make them crispy?

    I followed the recipe exactly but it did not turn out well. I don't know what went wrong😭 after the first 25 min, the wings were stuck to the parchment paper and they were soggy. when I would take them off the paper, half the batter would be stuck to the paper (yes the oven was at 450). I still continued (thought it might turn out ok) but the end result was soggy cauliflower bathed in BBQ sauce. Any advice? I really want to try again.

      batter too thick?

    • @jordanmoreno9944
      @jordanmoreno9944 8 лет назад +1

      Possibly your oven is a little cooler than other, so try going a few degrees higher. Also, the batter possible could have been too thick. It should be very loose almost like liquid as shown in the video. Plus maybe it was wax paper, or the parchment papers max heating was below 450.

    I commented on this video over a year ago and have made these many times since. I have JUST two little changes for even BETTER results! Bake them the first time with the batter for 35 mins instead of 25mins. The extra time makes the end result sooo much crisper like wings. After backing them the first time, change the parchment paper then dip them in the sauce and bake the second time! Game changer. Hope this helps! 👍🏽😁
