  • It has been a while since I last flew the big boy tug! But I always jump at the chance as it is such a unique experience sitting so high up and looking down that mega long nose!
This was a test flight after changing the wing washout fitting new lift struts. So I had to check it was flying wings level hands off and that the stall behaviour was as it should be and with no wing drop. Unfortunately we did too good a job and it flew perfectly. So no opportunity to test fly again after adjustments because no adjustments were needed!

This is a fixed pitch 4 blade Hoffmann propeller. It is a wooden propeller. It is not a good propeller. Much lower performance than a 2 blade metal fixed pitch. The reason it is fitted is because it is quieter and this is a glider tug. We have very high population density here and lots of people complain about noise. So it is better to have worse climb rate but less complaints so still be able to fly!
