This movie SHOULDN'T have been good...but....there is something special in this film..that's rare and hard to quite put your finger on...a combination of everything just right---cast--effects---story---music--and most important Direction...that make this a TOP quality film to rewatch again and again. A job well done, and permanently in the annals of Horror Movie History!
The cast still has great chemistry to this day. Chris Sarandon sets the tone with his graciousness. Great to see the crew and non lead actors like Stephen Jefferies included in the discussion.
Does not get better than that great cast and crew and i still have great memories of watching it on VHS under age and loving it. now i have the blu ray twilight time of fright night . stay cool brewster.

.... Damn, can the host wear a decent tie, and tuck in a dress shirt. FANTASTIC cast of a badazz Horror film!!! Fright Night is one of the best Horror films from the 80's!
I just watched both Fright Nights in October right before Halloween. Still great. Obviously the original is the best but sequel was not as bad as I thought especially with McDowall and Ragsdale in the cast and thought Jon Gries and Julie Carmen were great as well.
DIDN'T like the remake. EVIL ED was annoying and almost made a nuisance to Charlie, The CGI transformation to a vampire was just too obvious special effects and the Charlie character wasn't as relatable. I'll stick with the ORIGINAL! !!! 😄
