- In this video we take you along with us for the second day of our Welsh green laning trip. Part 2 of our mini overland adventure starts at a campsite near lake Bala; Bwch-Yn-Uchaf.
We woke up to a foggy morning but that soon turned to a beautiful sunny and warm day. After a good night of sleep in our rooftop tent, we took our time in the morning and enjoyed the slow pace of an empty campsite. Sipping coffee while basking in the sunshine. Chris decided to take his stand-up paddle board out on the stream by the campsite (we never did find time to go to Lake Bala).
For this day we had planned to do a few lanes near Machynlleth. First, Horseshoe lane (more commonly referred to as Bastard Lane). This lane is well known to green laners, mostly for the challenging rocky and steep waterfall. At the moment this lane (TW2 reference number - SH7302-02) has a voluntary one way restraint - West to East. This has been put in place by GLASS (Green lane association) to help preserve the lane. Travelling uphill is always more ground damaging.
We have one vehicle less today, so it’s Jeep Wranglers only - Chris in the white JLUR, Simon in the black JKU (he left his overland trailer at the campsite for today) and his wife Claire in the Mojito green JLUR.
Bastard lane turned out to be a lot more challenging than we initially thought.
There were axle twisters, slippery rocks, mud and tippy sections with high banks.
Combined with our late start in the morning and Simon’s little accident, we decided to call it a day after completing Bastard lane. Hopefully we will get a chance to finish the loop of lanes we planned in the near future.

That intro was great! As if we missed Chris on the water, not fair!😆 Bastard Lane looked challenging! Certainly took its toll on Simon!😬
Can’t wait for us to all go back out again! Such great times to be had!
Great vid, can't wait to lane again! Be safe :)
Great video guys, enjoyed watching it. Loving the lane think will be tight squeeze with the Luxy but can't wait to get out there. 🤙🏕️🏞️🧭
Thanks 🙂 The Jeep is a little bit wider than a Hilux, but the main body isn't as wide - it's all fender flares. You should be okay though (I think 😅)
Lovely intro, a nice sunday watch as it snows outside here in Derby.
We tried to capture the nice relaxing setting at the campsite. Weather was amazing too for second half of September. Makes us miss the summer too much though 🤦♂️
Now that looked fun! Still to try this lane 😏
Yeah it's good fun. We wanna be back there now haha.
Great video guys 🤘
Thanks Chris - Takes us back to good times 🙂
Nice one, as ever.
Guess those scratcy bushes down some of the other lanes didn't seem so bad after that one 😉
Thanks 🙂 Yeah your not wrong! Could have been much worse though I guess 😅
Don’t get me wrong, I love music, time and place though .....
you need a sliping bag
A nice big warm one 👍
Easy to forget how beautiful the UK is (when you get away from the human race).
Great vid ,but the music,🤬 would rather hear the engine purring
Really awesome back road trails. Thanks for sharing, nice rig👍.
Thanks Robby. glad you enjoyed it. You should check out some of the other videos. The UK countryside isn't quite as spectacular as in the US, but it does have it's moments 🙂
@@ModifiedJeepsUK Definitely will check it out. I'm sure there's a lot of undiscovered side in the UK. You got the rig to explore it🧭.
Another great video.
Whats your camera setup for filming?
Hi Raymond. We use a few different things such as GoPro and drone, but our main camera at the moment is a Canon C100 MkII. We are hoping to upgrade in the near future though. Theres some other info in our walk around and Q&A video we did a few months ago. ruclips.net/video/VEaQ4xr4x-0/видео.html
Thanks, @Modified Jeeps UK
the link works, not sure I saw that one so will take a look at it.
It it looked like a dlsr you were using for shots and filming, rather than a video camera.
@@raymondsmith6325 We were taking some photos too 🙂 If you play the above video from 26:00 you'll see the C100 👍
