    Your choice of words and delivery are meant to reach a broader audience. Im thankful for your capacity to create verbal visual environments / helps me to imagine what is happening in my minds eye (also helps to internalize the understanding and how to apply it to my- personal methods) I love the last part- about the collective pain/ it reminded me of a deeper sense of purpose in my work.

    Makes sense, good to know different types of pain, it's so suprising to find out that having daily inflammation is common for men in 40's and how so many people no matter what race, weight, diet etc...have these symptoms or feelings.

    I'm pretty much a hard science guy, but as a retired physician I can attest to the the value of the perspective of the mind determining what is pain. It also reminded me of my Tai Chi teacher telling me to interpret some of my sensations as "happy pain". He was not telling me to overstretch, but rather to live through the "pain" that comes from "meditative stance" after one has not moved from a bent knee standing position for 2, 5 and then 15 minutes. It does take "training" to get past "paining".

    5/30/18: Tom is sharing ancient wisdom of the wise ones and as we reawakened we realize we all have our part to play.
    Thank you for sharing Tom, you are Luved & Appreciated!
    We own a knowingness from our journey also that we do hold the human collective pain and beluved earth pain since whatever happens to the earth fields/ley lines/grids happens to all sentient life forms upon it. As we heal our selves/cells we assist in healing the earth and all sentient life forms.
    Also, protecting ones energetic/auric fields provides protection for professionals & clients avoiding an exchange of distortions carried within by either party. Professional can be the one with field protection and teach/give resources to client(s) for their own benefit.

      And speaking of far out there it's a good thing since if no one speaks truth how can we find IT (and IT is very Sacred).
      Here is our 144 cents worth:
      Trapped in Time:
      We have been trapped in time here for eons due to beings choosing the opposite expression of God-Source (Free Will Choice) have been playing with the electromagnetics of earth and our solar system for a very long time, with the aim of taking over putting in reverse the original electromagnetic system (Creation). Originally, our earth was ELECTRICAL- or male, not this FAKE MAGNETIC or false feminine ( Van Allen Belt, which is coming down now) that has been FORCED on it. Our earth is ELECTRICAL and its COUNTERPART- the True FEMININE, is a planet located in M31 Andromeda Galaxy.
      The One thing these wannabe gawds missed is our earth is (and always has been) FULLY CONSCIOUS of what 'they' were doing and has waited for the Divine Right Time to Re-Activate its ORIGINAL DIVINE BLUEPRINT, which will have us ALL Re-Evolve back to M31 Andromeda over a time-span of about 900 years, and NO ONE or NO THING can STOP this inevitable RE-EVOLUTION MAGNETIC RECONNECTION RISE from OCCURRING. It's a Done Deal. Earth is activating it's immune system, realigning with Eternal Life Timeline, and all "fleas" have to leave. There will be earth changes.
      The Truth of this will soon become visible as everything in Existence here will undergo the same process right down to the smallest subatomic particles. Electrons originally carried a pos + charge; protons orginally carried a neg -charge. There is so much more to this and more of it is being revealed. A good first place to notice changes will be the geometry of snow flake formation as they will go from a 6-pointed start to a 8-pointed start formation.
      We are TRULY LIVING in Divine Times as we stand at the Threshold of not Revolution since
      (Eternal Source of Eternal 1st Creation/(E)ternal (F)irst (F)ield (I)ntelligence),
      EFFI forbade for this to happen- phase locking/time locking/time loop we have been stuck within) instead its our True RE-EVOLUTION. So Truly get INTO your LIVES and INJOY the Ride ONE and ALL!
      The Universe Heals All Else and All Else Falls Away.

    Tom Myers has "renewed my intention to try and relieve" my massive pain in my back....and related parasthesia. I have a bit of spinal stenosis also....so physiologically, this has hurt me in a few ways.
    So, I bought a $20 "floor roller" and really "kinda" generically roll out my legs; calves, TFL, medially and of course Max/Med/lower back muscles too. It takes me 2-3 mins.
    I've been really happy to "see the way" Mr. Myers does...as I'm trying to find a new paradigm for my life....too much muscle and not enough "day....without pain, massive pain". Muscle means nothing, without a "pain free body".....does it!
    This goes beyond regular body massage training. It takes time to learn,...focus on, and deal with.

    Several thoughts about stored emotional pain: 1) a psychologist is often not trained to help release those stored emotions that impact your body . Example is that I was rear ended one rainy day close to home. I went to go see my chiropractor who adjusted the sutures in my head and neck. The moment he adjusted the head, especially the posterior sutures, I burst into tears. He purposely adjusted my head to have my body release the potential for me storing the fear and emotion in my body. 2) if you ever watched "Dancing with the Stars" inevitably the people who go through the show have an awakening and reawakening of painful memories and the walk through those painful moments i believe , in part, that people are re addressing posture and extending themselves through dance.

    Is he saying pain during massage is good for myofascial release and loosening of tissue tension or is he saying its not good. Wouldn't pain activate the sympathetic nervous system and cause the tissues to tighten thereby preventing you from getting any benefits from the myofascial release therapy/massage

    just coming up on my last semester as Licensed Massage Therapist (A.A.S). Question Mr. Myers. regarding pain while stretching the tissue around the sternum for example, do we have physical evidence of the tissue tearing (ie, microscopic evidence) which causes the pain? Maybe a research paper. Healthy pain is contrary to what I am taught in my MT program. Any help is appreciated. P.S. My program does include MFR and my teacher was trained in your style.

    Pain is an EMOTIONAL response to adequate activation (reaches threshold) of the nocicepive system. Reaching threshold is dependent upon several modulating factors within the body's collection of structure chemistry and innate energy. Indeed a personal, private experience.

    3:18 So you can actually "tear" the connective tissue with manual inputs? That doesn't sound accurate.

    • @bethburgin4691
      @bethburgin4691 5 лет назад +2

      Thank you @LuisMolina... that is not accurate. So far there is no evidence to suggest connective tissue is tearing (or even stretching much at all) with manual therapy. His verbiage around 'pain' or the particular sensation is accurate however, it should feel like a deep yoga stretch. Doesn't have to hurt. Dont' allow anyone to hurt you. Pain is not necessary to affect change in the body, because? The nervous system 🙄

    Pain is the output of all the inputs. The brain makes the decision to decide if those inputs posed a threat or not based off social and phycological contexts. Meyers is NOT a DPT and is using a very dualistic framework

We are surley releasing some collective pain, 😂 the thing is , that it doesnt feel like a realise, more like the whole body start to feel sick and sore and painfull. Like if we released some kind of inflamationprocess. Whats going on??? I need to keep moving and doing my yoga, but my body feels sick and sore weeks after and it doesnt go away😢

    On that note, muscle cramps are not a simple matter and shouldn't be labeled as bad just because they have a reputation of being painful. They are actually a sign of vitality and very good in fact when controlled properly. They are complex chemical reactions unable to begin the production phase among 99.999999% of people. Once properly performed, a muscle cramp benefits the entire body by correcting muscular imbalances, breaking down scar tissue, and even healing all but the most severe injuries. They are ultimate muscle contraction by definition after all. Be wary of controlling them if you don't know what you're doing. You may injure the muscle by tearing it significantly (ouch.)

    There's also epigenetic/generational pain/trauma stored in the fascia, the Bible says that God would visit the sins of the fathers unto the sons for 3 and 4 generations, meaning that there is generational trauma, it's a real thing. Spiritually it's about repenting and coming under God and HE does the healing. He heals our mind will and emotions (the soul) and then the fascia follows, as the fascia is the interface between spirit/soul and body.

    how can a fascia get emotionally stuck to your sternum...?

    • @shanedelange4357
      @shanedelange4357 8 лет назад

      The hypothesis is that emotional tension repeated over and over throughout life manifests as tension in the physical structure i.e., fascia

    • @florisjanpietster
      @florisjanpietster 8 лет назад

      Hurr1cane 07 that sounds hard to proof

    • @shanedelange4357
      @shanedelange4357 8 лет назад +5

      That's why i said it's a 'hypothesis'. But i don't think 40 years of anecdotal evidence can be dismissed (referring to Thomas Myers work). I don't think it's a wild allegation either, to say that the emotions are felt in the body, would you? Of course this is 'hard' to prove but a little bit of logic will tell you that whatever we feel, must be felt in the body, the fascia is everywhere in the body. If my stress response to, lets say, constantly worrying about my next pay check (essentially survival) is grinding my teeth and shrugging my shoulders and that is repeated throughout my life then how can that not have physical manifestations in the form of tension (holding patterns)? In this case the front line which includes the sternum would be taught and adhered to the sternum so releasing that can induce an emotional response. Seems very logical to me, unless of course you think the emotions exist only in the mind, which is pretty silly considering the body is 1 whole unit and the mind seems to arise within it, emotions are felt, no?

    • @florisjanpietster
      @florisjanpietster 8 лет назад

      I do think posture is important and i also believe Emotion can (does not always have to) have an effect on that posture.
      but Emotion and pain is only felt in the head especially because emotions are actually formed in the head.
      and i do think we can discard 40 years of anecdotal evidence from one person who after watching this film is still very confused on how pain works. if this was anecdotal evidence from tons of physio's, doctors, massage therapists and what have you i would give it a serious look but from one person? that can be easily discarded.
      And don't get me wrong stress does have an effect on the body that's proven but to call it emotionally stuck is just the wrong way to put it.

    The "pain leaving the body" in my experience is something which you can't really force. After an intense workout session with hitting the core muscles too much and some overstretching, my body might become tender and uncomfortable for a few days. This condition will dissipate by itself, and there is no point of trying to massage or stretch anything through that period (it only makes the matters worse and the symptoms last longer). So at least some types of pain leave the body just by resting, and not by experiencing/provoking pain.

    I think that massage is an excellent tool to rehabilitate and re-purpose damaged or disfunctional tissue. I like the concepts of sensation and pain and the whole going outside your comfort zone...But I think he started walking the line between rational concept and rambling right at the end with the "lessening of human pain collectively". Personally with clients I focus on their microcosm and not the macrocosm of everything as a way of expression. Other than that it was a new idea on pain and physical association for me.
