This lore blows my mind. Pledged in 3.17 but really started playing since 3.18. This game scratches my itch lore-wise coming from my favorite game Mass Effect.
I like ME but never really dove deep into the lore. However plenty of people have said they really enjoy it, so I guess it is a good thing you are comparing it to ME. Trust me when I say this is a VERY deep universe when it comes to the narrative backstory.
Marathon5. I have a feeling I will need to use this video as a reference later down the line. Dropped off load for a net of 100k credits. Going to see about selling some hadanite I forgot about.
7:55 Actually, the concept of citizenship as a means of obtaining expanded political and social rights and protections goes back 3.5 millennia (in game time) to the Roman Republic.
7:26 I stoped the video to answer that: A citizen accepts personal responsability for the safety and the body politics defending with his life. A civilian does not.
I fricking love this game. i mean lorewise is nothing special but goddamned this game is for me the best space game out there when it does work. i have 1500 +hours on EVE Online i have 800 hours on Elite Dangerous and 500 on no man sky. i also have played X4 a lot and almost every space game out there but the only game then i want to play since i have discovered this game is star citizien. I dont wanna play nothing else.
I mean I'd disagree that SC lore is nothing special. You just haven't dug into it yet and/or experienced in game yet. The latter is one of my bigger gripes as the games lore is not well showcased to the players yet simply because it isn't a priority, despite how well the devs do with environmental story telling. Note that this video is VERY old, one of the first ones I did on the lore of Star Citizen. While nothing is inherently wrong here, there is a lore more that has been added over the years. I'd suggest the Beginners Guide series I did or the Complete History Series which is on going to really showcase more of the lore.
If Star Citizen is ever so player driven that players could become senators of the UEE that would be awesome. However current outlook is obviously not good at all for frankly even being as player driven as the average mmo.
@@TheAstroHistorian Yeah I'm not trying to slight you I fully wish that situations like that would be possible in the game. Just seems like the devs are making it more npc interaction focused than player controlled which is a bummer. If start citizen was essentially 95% player driven would be amazing.
I liked the ueec until I realized it meant an Empire. Sci fi usually has us concerned about galactic empires, I wonder, is there a lore alternative that doesn't function as an authoritarian system? I know xenothreat hate the eueec but they also hate alien species... I wonder if we'll have some sort of smaller rebel resistance group to be part of.
Civilian Government is local (nation/planet), Citizen Government is interstellar. The highest office a civilian can attain is Governor. Each planet has a number of Governors depending on the nations on it. Like Earth has hundreds of Governors while Magnus may only have a handful. While a Citizen can become everything up to Imperator. The Citizen Government impacts the whole empire while the Civilian one only impacts local planetary law. Now the Empire is more of a federation, so each planet has massive amounts of freedom to govern themselves while the Imperial Law is more blanketing on top. This means that the day to day is often controlled by the local governments, but travel outside a planet or a star system and you see more Imperial Law being the main force.
@@TheAstroHistorian I'm an old "50" avid reader of science fiction and play a little Unreal Tournament some. So thru recommendations under some I have clicked my way and listend mostly to everything from 40K and the Astartes awesome video I have just been wondering around peeping into videos some are neat like the stellaris series Antares Confederation to you 😀 and your well toned well spoken enlightening video into your realm. Bet you didn't expect that answer? "Desiderata" looks it up some time.
@@TheAstroHistorian OH now I am perusing your Galactic Lore videos gotta be nosey and delight some aspects of the expansion of how deep the stories go and how filled out the narrative of the game and its Universe is.
They said they would like to allow players to run for office eventually, but a handful of players in an NPC run government won't have a huge impact. They have said they don't want players to be in the Military or Advocacy but still have an impact on them and the story of the universe as a whole.
I see, that may be fun (funnier if the bribes come with it xD), hope we'll learn more about it when we're getting closer to the release. nice video btw, I gonna watch the whole serie ^^
This is the first of the proper episodes. The next is on the UEE Navy but that won't be out until Nov. Until then check out the lectures, shorts and historical questions.
Remember, service guarantees citizenship.
Would you like to know more?
great reference!
hmm not sure if i cringe at this or not . maybe 60%

The UEE often does feel like humanity at the dawn of the Dark Age of Technology from 40k.

Really like the format of these videos. Keep it up
Nice work Paul, really looking forward to what's ahead!
Saw this on the stream, love the vid.
Dude, great job! This is a fantastic format and you did a superb job of putting it together. High quality stuff man, seriously...bravo.
Love this series Pub! Thank you.
I just got into this game after citizen con 2953. Starting all this wonderful lore from the beginning now! ❤
I have a slightly more updated version later on, but this playlist is going to be mostly made up of what was cool to me.
@TheAstroHistorian I am excited to catch up on it all and see how things have changed over the years!
Great video! Liked and subscribed!
Very informative, thanks a lot :)
This format is great, clear and on point. Thank you!!!
really great and instructive video !
Badass vid. Thanks for this.
Nice intro good job as always grtz

Did you just "ACTUALLY..." a fictional lore video with a mostly generic take on Ancient Rome?
GREAT VIDEO. NEED MORE. MAKE LORE UP IF NECESSARY.
Oh I don't need to...there is a lot of lore for this game
TheAstroPub Keep up the great work man. I unsubbed all SC channels but yours. The lore feeds my appetite more than the latest 200$ ship.
Thanks again.

only a few more weeks until my graphics card is delivered and i can finally start playing the game.
Nice intro

Is it still a thing being voted to become senator?

This was made many moons ago, literally the first true lore video I did.

Hello, love your lore vids. Question, what is the difference between civilian and citizen in the UEE?
Civilian Government is local (nation/planet), Citizen Government is interstellar. The highest office a civilian can attain is Governor. Each planet has a number of Governors depending on the nations on it. Like Earth has hundreds of Governors while Magnus may only have a handful. While a Citizen can become everything up to Imperator.

Curious if alpha players will be given citizenship but others not without military service or the like or if squadron 42 will be the bar for that
Is it just me, or does this seem like the "golden age of man", or rather the predecessor to. For whereabouts the warhammer 40k basically starts?
Might be a little, early days of that.
Also, just thought I would add. Not just this, but the entire lore, backstory, and current state of lore.
Don't Play Star Citizen but this was a really well done interesting video.
Thanks, how did you find the video if you don't follow or play Star Citizen if you don't mind me asking.

I thought players couldn't influence or be part of the government 🤔
